  1. I also use 20# braid and don't have this issue. First fix? Take it all off and re-spool it with some tension - loose braid on the reel can cause this.
  2. Water Gremlin still makes lots of lead weights here in MN. Of course they occasionally get into trouble with the MN Pollution Control Agency over discharge from their plant - last was just this past November.
  3. And considering that Berkley's parent corp is also the parent corp of Stren...well, things get a little fuzzy.
  4. Save that reel for salt-water or muskie, sturgeon, channel cats or other 'monster' fish. 21.5 oz is way too heavy for a bass reel - my heaviest reel for bassing weighs less than half what that thing does. If you're not planning on hunting the 'big boys', fresh or salt, then put it on a shelf to admire and get a new reel.
  5. No matter what kind of plastic - if you're using off-set or EWG hooks...this is what it should look like. Notice the hook point just barely buried in the plastic.
  6. Na - there's a number of states with a lower rate (cases per million pop), Oregon and W Virginia being two of them.
  7. I dunno about CA, but here in MN baitshops are allowed to be open again. So I have two local places to go...as well as a couple convenience stores that carry some tackle and bait.
  8. I'm wondering if KVD had a hand in this.
  9. I took a peek - he hasn't even logged in since last Friday...where's he hiding?
  10. Hear that @A-Jay - you can dig the Lund back out of the mountain of mothballs.
  11. Are you burying the hook point deep in the worm? The way to rig is to just 'skin' the point - barely under the plastic.
  12. Diawa Fuego CT - around $80 on Amazon
  13. Take your pick - Diawa, Dobyns, St Croix, Abu, Shimano, Quantum, etc...the list is endless. Models ranging from $50 to $500.
  14. I know we just had this topic not long ago - so again. I use a 7' Medium-Heavy/Fast rod for spinners/chatters/buzzbaits. Also jigs and T-Rigs. What brand/model depends on your personal preference and how much you're willing to spend on it.
  15. This type of thing happens here. I've gotten a couple 'care packages' from other members, including the reel that's on my finesse rig and 4 long-sleeve fishing shirts. Members here are awesome.
  16. Prime example Diawa - MH is 1/4oz to 1oz Dobyns - MH is 1/4oz to 3/4oz Look at the lure/line ratings and buy based on that - ignore the words.
  17. My current flip/pitch rig? Diawa Fuego CT-XS on a Diawa Aird-X 7' Heavy/Fast Only thing I'd update would be the rod to a Dobyns Fury 735C as I use the heavy rig for other things as well. If I wanted a dedicated flip/pitch rod - Fury 765Flip.
  18. “A human being should be able to change a diaper, plan an invasion, butcher a hog, conn a ship, design a building, write a sonnet, balance accounts, build a wall, set a bone, comfort the dying, take orders, give orders, cooperate, act alone, solve equations, analyze a new problem, pitch manure, program a computer, cook a tasty meal, fight efficiently, die gallantly. Specialization is for insects.” ― Robert A. Heinlein
  19. Got that straight. My drop shots - 1/8 or 1/4 oz weights, #1 or #2 hooks, small plastics - TRD worms, hogz, slim swimz Bubba shots - 3/4 or 1 oz weights, 2/0 to 4/0 hooks - 6" Missile D'Stroyers or larger size plastics.
  20. I'll just say that my wisdom tooth was laying on it's side, and it was full knock-out surgery at the hospital to get it out.
  21. I'm not even going to talk about the wisdom tooth removal I had a month ago.
  22. The reason stretching your mono to make it more manageable works is that it 'thins' the line...thereby making it weaker. Good quality mono, treated with a good line conditioner (I use KVD) will be much more manageable without sacrificing performance. Suffix Elite Stren Original Those are the two I use. Of course it does...which is why I do the KVD treatment when I spool it up...and every evening before a trip. Can't just treat it once then never again.
  23. With the big sales, I've definitely saved money. However there are some lures where the color selection at TW is below the bar. Example is Rapala Originals where they only carry 7 of the 24 available colors. I get my Rapalas from FishUSA, who does carry most if not all the Rapala color selections across the entire Rapala line.
  24. It's gotten good reviews...but not as the Angler-10. It's made for F&S by KL Industries - as most F&S branded canoes/kayaks/pond hoppers are. It's actually the Sun Dolphin Sportsman 10 (Sun Dolphin is KL Industries 'home' brand). https://sundolphin.com/sportsman-10/
  25. I got confused about the lure weights you posted as here's what's posted on Dobyns site: http://dobynsrods.com/rods/fury/ Fury 765Flip - 1/4-2oz Fury 805Flip/Punch - 3/8-2&1/2oz Fury 795SB - 1-5oz Fury 806SB - 2-8oz 1 & 3 are both rated MH/F 2 & 4 are both rated H/F If you're looking at smaller swimbaits - I'd go with the 805 and use it for both techniques. If you're looking for larger swimbaits, get the 795 or 806 and get a 734C - rated Heavy by Dobyns, but other manufacturers rate that lure range as a MH - for flipping.
