Tomorrow should be a classic Tennessee River ledge fishing tournament. I’m a fan of Jason Lambert. He’s kind of been a one trick pony and this type of fishing is his one trick. If he doesn’t do well tomorrow, I doubt if he’ll be back on the tour next year. You have to think Wheeler is the favorite. It’s his adopted home lake. Kevin VanDam has always been strong on Tennessee River ledges and he’s arguably the GOAT. Jordan Lee is a freak. He can catch fish anywhere. They’re supposed to being pulling a lot of current tomorrow. It might take 100 lbs to win.

Set up the reel for maximum casting performance not to reduce backlash. Learn to use your thumb. You’ll enjoy the benefits of an educated thumb for the rest of your life.

When they’re busting up on a school of baitfish they will hit absolutely anything so when it happens throw whatever is in your hand at the time. The key is to get the bait there ASAP. If they’re busting up all around me then I use a spoon on a spinning rod. I like a spoon because I can throw it fast and far. I like a spinning rod because I can keep it over my shoulder ready to make a quick throw. If I made this type of cast with a baitcaster it would cause the mother of all backlashes.

Would you rather fight a guy that’s 5’ 9” and weighs 225 lbs or a guy that 6’ 2” and weighs 150 lbs. Weight is the best measure of a man and a fish.

What a tournament. Very fun to watch. Tomorrow should be very interesting.

It’s a weed eater and when your using it you’re weed eating. Me: I mowed the yard. Wife: Did you weed eat?

Next Saturday is the day in Tennessee. They hold special events, usually at small lakes in local park. The wildlife resource officers are at these events and help kids learn to fish. When they catch their first fish they give them a certificate. That’s all great but it means there’s no law enforcement at all the other lakes in the state. Free for all Saturday.

I would go back to the exact day in 1996 when I had the smallmouth of a lifetime break off because I did not have my drag set. I know the spot and would love a second chance. I think about that day a lot! ?

If I was retired and could pick my days I'm sure I would pay more attention to the weather. I pretty much go when I can now if the weather is not dangerous.

Something is wrong with one of the batteries or something is wrong with the charger.

I'm not a Lowrance user so take what I'm saying for what it's worth. I'm a little confused by the two photos if the settings were the same. I looked briefly on line at that unit and it shows traditional cone shaped sonar on a multi color graph like on a Humminbird. That first image looks like traditional cone shaped sonar returns to me. Maybe someone with Lowrance experience can provide a better explanation.

It's important to understand the shape of your sonar beam. With a cone shaped beam, a fish will look like an arch. Your second photo is a great example. With a wide thin beam, you get much more detail and fish show up as dots. I'm assuming your second photo was using this setting. If so the dots near the bottom are probably fish. If the setting were the same for both photos, then there were no fish in the second photo since there are no arches.

Looking at the photos it hard to tell what is being displayed on the unit verse stuff stuck on the screen. The bait balls that Tom has identified look like fingerprints to me. I agree that is sure looks like a fish at 13ft on the first photo but it looks like a similar spot at the same location on the second photo which makes me wonder that is something stuck on the screen. The arches on the second photo definitely look like fish. You have to remember that at a depth of 5-6 feet, the size of your sonar cone is probably 2-3 feet across depending on your settings. So all those fish in the second photo are in a very small area which means they are pretty small.

I would give up my boat before I would give up the Texas Rig.

I've been working on a punching technique that can punch through the thick layer of jet skies that forms on weekends on my local lake. I haven't perfected it yet so I won't be out this weekend.

That’s an old wives tale. I was having trouble with my allergies right after I graduated from college. A friend told me to try the local honey. I took her out twice and it didn’t make any difference. ?

I don't really know why they are called bream but I will make up a good answer. Bream is the common name for the genus Lepomis. What anglers in this country call bream includes all the species in the Lepomis genus. Many call them sunfishes which is true but the sunfish family includes other species like the largemouth bass. So if you can't speak latin lets just say that bream is the english word for Lepomis.

I’ve always preferred Mint Chocolate Chip. I recently tried Publix Coconut Road and really like it.

If I back down to far, this will happen to me every time. The only way to get my boat on straight is to let the bunks guide it on straight. If it’s off two inches, one of the “ridges” will cause one of the bunks to flip 90 degrees as you describe. It took me a while to find the sweet spot when backing the trailer in.

You can always just fish the docks this time of year. My PB came off a dock on Guntersville the first week in June. It topped my previous PB that I caught 5 minutes earlier off the same dock and the same Texas Rigged Lizzard. It doesn’t get any simpler than that.
