I agree if you add a pound to the contents of a container then the total weight of the contents of the container will increase by one pound. We're talking about buoyancy, that's the weight of the object as measured by a scale inside the container under the water. Here's an easy science experiment. Put 10 lbs of lead weights in a half gallon jug and tie a string to it. Do the same with another 10 lbs of weight in a gallon jug. Be sure to put the top on both jugs to keep the water out. Use your favorite fishing scales to confirm that both weight 10lbs. Now lower both into the water by the strings and measure the weight of each by attaching it's string to your scales. Do you think the weight on the scale will be the same for both 10lbs jugs?

It you want to understand buoyancy I suggest you ignore the "science" in this tread and find a good youtube video on the subject. YOU CANNOT DETERMINE THE WEIGHT OF AN OBJECT IN WATER WITHOUT KNOWING HOW MUCH WATER THE OBJECT DISPLACES. According to Archimedes' Principle: Any object, wholly or partially immersed in a fluid, is buoyed up by a force equal to the weight of the fluid displaced by the object. Most boat owner have learned this lesson by launching their boat without putting in the plug. The boat's weight doesn't increase without a plug but's the amount of water it displaces changes drastically. I've learned that my boat floats much better with the plug in. ?

I'm with @12poundbass on this. I change frequencies to change the cone angle sometimes. There's very little water in my area that's deep enough to need lower frequency. Especially for bass fishing. I've certainly never had an issue in less than 75ft.

I'm a first generation Solix owner. It has nice feature but I've had lots of issue. I've been able to work around for the problems for the most part. They are very sensitive to power fluctuations and when I first bought them there were many bugs in the software. It seems to take Humminbird several years to work out the bugs in a new line but that doesn't keep them from selling them. Hopefully, they've addressed most of these issues with the new Gen3 units.

I have an antenna in the attic and a TiVo DVR. I get more TV for free than I have time to watch. During college football season I subscribed to Hulu. I wouldn’t subscribe to cable TV if it was $20 a month.

I agree with @J Francho. This is an aspect of fishing that I think most anglers fail miserably at. If you’re mathematically inclined it’s easy to calculate the odds that it was just luck. There is a 25% chance that if you flip a coin three times it will come up the same all three times. So the same goes for fishing. If two guys go fishing and fish equally there is a 25% chance that one of them will catch the first three fish just from luck. With coins everyone assumes it was luck. With fishing everyone wants to find a reason.

I started researching the Asian carp problem in Tennessee a couple of years ago and was surprised what I learned. The TWRA does not believe they have ever spawned in the Tennessee or Cumberland valley. They believe all 15 zillion of them locked through Kentucky and Barkley Dam. If this is true then their strategy for dealing with them seems promising. They call it block and tackle. They plan to use underwater noise generators to scare them away from the locks which is supposed to prevent most of them from locking through. This is the “blocking” part. Next we just need to “tackle” the problem of the ones already here. That’s why every person in the state needs to eat about 1000 pounds Asian carp in the next year or so and then the problem will be solved.

There’s a processing plant in Kentucky that freezes them and ships them to China. They’re in high demand there. Unfortunately, our supply is almost unlimited.

I keep saying I’m gonna eat the next one that jumps in the boat but when I’m actually looking at one I always change my mind.

I know LakeMaster maps vary from lake to lake. The ones you download are the same as the ones that are on the chip. The high definition maps have 1ft increments. All of the lakes in my area are high definition so I’ve never used a standard definition LakeMaster map.

This chart is from an article published in Current Zoology in 2019 titled “Seeing red: color vision in the largemouth bass”. Bass were trained to identify certain colors. This chart shows how good they were at identifying the color they were trained to identify. As you can see from the chart, bass trained to identify white often choose yellow, blue, and even black as white. Bottom line, the way bass see and process color is completely different than the way we do.

The fishing on Kentucky Lake took a big hit a few years ago. The reasons why are debatable and off topic. The number of tournaments on the lake has dropped as a result. Bad fishing reduces tournaments so if tournaments hurt fishing then it would be self regulating to some degree. I don’t think tournaments hurt fishing. Guntersville has more tournaments big and small than any lake I have ever fished and the fishing is fantastic.

Tournament fishing changes the way you look at this question. You need less than one fish per hour to win the Bassmaster Classic and 100 short fish is the same as being skunked.
