Motorguide x3 won’t stay running on speed level 5
If they are lithium batteries then you are exceeding the long term current limit set in the BMS. If they are not lithium batteries, I have no clue.

I’m about to give up on braid —> leader
I’ve been doing it with mono with great success since the 1970s. The line will eventually get twisted again and I just untwist it again.

I’m about to give up on braid —> leader
When you break off, the knot at your lure should break off 95% of the time if you tie a good braid to leader knot and your leader has a lower test than the braid. Wind knots are caused by line twist. You are probably spooling the line on the reel incorrectly. Let all of your line out without a lure behind the boat and then reel it in. This will remove the twist. If you are not in a boat you can walk it out on land. Regardless of what type of line you use, always completely fill the spool.

Crews better be careful where he’s at. He could encounter a cottonmouth, big foot, or some guys cooking meth. 🤣

The graphic they just showed of all of the places a fish has been caught blows my mind. Where are they biting? Pretty much everywhere.

Just another week in MLF
To my knowledge the last MLF tournament was not mentioned on this forum until this controversy came up. You gotta do something to get people to notice. 😆

A lot of good advice has already been given. I’ll add a few thoughts. There are lots of ways to set your drag. I believe a well-set drag is important, and I’m meticulous about it. I use a spring scale to set mine. There are two values to know with your drag. The first is the force that causes your drag to start slipping. The second is the force that it puts on the scale while it’s slipping. The first number is usually about 20% higher but varies some from reel to reel. A spring scale lets me observe these two values very easily. Look up static and dynamic friction if you want to understand the underlying physics of these two values. The extra 20% due to static friction is a good thing because it gives you more hold on the hook set. Personally, I usually set my drag to between 20% and 25% of the break point. The break point is the smaller of the line rating or the maximum line rating of the rod. If you’re fishing heavy straight braid, the rod rating will probably be the determining factor. If you’re fishing 50 lb straight braid on a very heavy rod for bass, the drag becomes less important. It’s pointless to set your drag above 6 pounds because no bass is going to pull 6 lbs of drag. The only reason to consider doing it is it might keep you from losing a lure if you hook a giant catfish.

Just another week in MLF
A guy gets out of the boat to pull the plug then gets back in the boat and goes under a bridge. Did he get out of the boat to gain access to the water on the other side of the bridge? A guy stops to get gas and gets out of the boat to pay for the gas. Then he gets back in the boat and runs 50 miles. Did he get out of the boat to gain access to the water 50 miles away?

Smallmouth Ned Rig (Braid Concerns)
I’m moving more to using all braid with a leader. I’m use to the way lures act when tied to mono. It’s a subtle difference but I think I can feel the difference. I’ll admit it could all be in my head. I think the science suggests that straight braid should be superior to braid to leader. I’ll probably get there one day. To be clear, I’m talking about taking advantage of the smaller diameter of braid. Those who are fishing 30+lb braid when 6 lb mono will do are choosing the worst of both worlds in my humble opinion.

The All 'Finesse' outing- what are you rigging
Throw whatever it takes in whatever way it takes to get bit. When you’re done, go online and argue about what to call the technique.😉

Question about switching out
It depends on many factors. If I have no clue what they might be hitting I will set an alarm on my watch for 15 minutes to remind myself to change. If my past history at a location suggests they should be doing something specific then I might stick with something for an hour or more.

Just another week in MLF
I found the details. The fish he caught on the other side of the bridge were DQed because you are not allowed to get out of the boat to gain access to a location. Getting out to pull the plug was ruled a violation of this rule. The controversy is he apparently got permission to do it before he did it.

When do you replace your car battery?
It has happened the same every time. The first very cold day in late fall or early winter my car or truck with an old battery will not start. I jump it and go buy a new battery.

Any accurate line counter for light braid lines?
@A-Jay I would keep those large spools of Tatsu in a safe or safe deposit box. 😆

How many use straight braid exclusively?
I’ve switched to mostly using braid as my main line. Modern braid is good stuff. I still prefer a leader for most applications. I’ve seen no evidence that bass are line shy. I just feel like I can present many lures better with a leader.

You should try 50# Vicious No Fade Braid. 😀

Time to Buy a Truck… but Which One?
I won’t comment on the Chevy vs Ford debate as that might violate the forums rules on politics and religion.😆 I will say that I’ve been extremely pleased with all of my interactions with CarMax. I bought and sold with them, they proved to be very honest when I had a vehicle repaired there. I helped my dad buy a car there and at 88 he just couldn’t master all of the modern electronics. We returned it in the 30 day window and it was quick and easy.

Stolen boat from BPS
I ask a lawyer friend (don’t like to admit I’m friends with a lawyer 😆). He said the law could vary by location but in general when you temporarily take possession of something you are responsible for taking reasonable care of it but you do not assume total responsibility for it. If a tornado destroyed the BPS they would not have to replace every boat in the repair shop. The guy would have to prove they were negligent in taking reasonable care to prevent his boat from being stolen. He also said BPS might require you to sign a statement when you drop off the boat that might limit their liability.
