Berkley X9 braided line diameters....accurate as listed?
There’s no standards for measuring the diameter of line or for specifying the strength rating. Braid is not perfectly round so it’s hard to measure its diameter. I’ve measured lots of different braids with a caliper and micro meter. The results depend on how much pressure you put on the line. If I’m a marketing person I’m gonna put a lot of pressure on the line to measure it as thin as possible.

Lots of good tips already mentioned. The ultimate solution is to use a reel that is designed so the it wraps the line on the spool in a way that prevents dig in. On my Diawa Silver Wolfs I can use the smallest diameter line and do everything else mentioned above wrong and still have no problems.- Riddle Me This Batman

I've never been required to have one but I've taken two courses over the years to lower my insurance rates. It's very easy to do online and doesn't cost much.- Questions About Hot Weather Hoodies

- Helix 9 won't read my navionics card
If you have a computer with an SD card slot, I would plug it in and see what it shows on the card. If the card works you can use the Navionics app to update the card. If the card doesn’t work then you have a defective card. You said in your first post that the FF said card encrypted when you first installed it. That suggests that the FF recognized the card.- Lets Talk Cars! (Car guys)
My first car was a 1976 Plymouth Arrow. It had the power of a cheap push mower. Top speed 92 mph on a warm day. If it was below 10 degrees it would go about 7 miles before it quit which was a problems because I lived 10 miles from work and 12 miles from school. It had 90,000 miles on it when I traded it and it was worn out. I don't miss that car one bit.- willie mays............ the say hey kid is gone
I thought he died years ago so I was shocked when I heard the news. He was without a doubt one of the greatest of all time.- Action of lure question(s)
If you're shaking or somehow using the rod to impart a desired action on the lure then the rod might make a difference. If you just testing the lure to get a sense of it's natural action and running depth at a certain speed then I wouldn't worry about the rod.- Deep Cycle Batteries
There are different ways of measuring battery capacity. The specs they provide make it impossible to accurately compare the two. Personally I would go with the Duracell because it’s made in the USA and the 20 amp hour rating is a better test of real world performance. I would be comfortable buying either of them.- Action of lure question(s)
Line size, line type and speed of retrieve will make a difference. I can’t imagine how the lure would know what type of rod and reel you’re using. You could always put some tape over the lure’s eyes just to make sure it’s a blind test. 😆- Questions About Hot Weather Hoodies
I’ve done some reading on sun screens. I always try to get my information from peer reviewed scientific studies even though they make for dry reading. When you read news articles that reference these journal articles they often misrepresent what’s in them. For example, it’s a fact that people who use sun screen are more likely to get skin cancer than those that don’t. That’s alarming right? Put that in the title of your article and you’ll get some clicks. The reality is that people that use sunscreen get more exposure to the sun than people that don’t. When you control for sun exposure in the data analysis, sun screen clearly helps reduce the risk of skin cancer. What about the chemicals in sun screen? There are reasons for concern. What I’ve read suggests the need for more study. I don’t buy the conspiracy theories or need for panic. The spray on sun screens are more concerning than the lotions. If I had a kid that lived at the pool all summer I would be concerned about sun screen exposure. I would want them to use lotions not sprays. I think pregnant women should be concerned about some of these chemicals. I personally try to get most of my protection from clothing. On very hot days I wear shorts and use spray on sun screen on my legs. I use less than one can a year so I’m not worried about any small temporary effects it might have on my hormones levels. One thing we should all be able to agree on is sun exposure is dangerous.- Big fish on spinning or casting ?
My PB was caught on a 4000 spinning reel with 16# mono. As others have pointed out, truly big fish (over 100 lbs) are caught on both. There are no big bass. They just seem big because we use light tackle to catch them.- For the scopers

Take a look at Fins 40G 9 strand.- Who is making the high end multi strand braids these days?
It hard to know who actually makes anything these days. One company makes it and lots of other companies that focuses on branding puts their name on it. I buy Fins braid because it's the house brand for BBS Tech that makes braid line in the US for many different companies. They have a wide variety of lines to choose from. I don't know who's the best. Many people will argue that one brand is better than another when they both might come from the same factory.- For the scopers
There is certainly less pressure in the winter and you could be right but I see a correlation with water temperature. I see very few people around here that are targeting suspended fish with FFS so I don’t think the pressure on these fish is very strong but there is a huge difference in the way they respond to all lures in February compared to June. I still catch as many fish as four months ago on the same lures. They just act differently in warmer water and I saw the same change in behavior last year. FFS has a lot to teach us and we are all still learning from it. In another ten years I’ll have some answers 😆- Darn Tough Socks
$33 for a pair of socks !!!- For the scopers
I don't know how long you've been using FFS but this has been my reality in warmer water. Once I started watching them I quickly learned that they do not act the way I always thought they did. Biologist say that a bass' metabolism slows down when the water temperature drops and they eat considerable less. How can this be when the fishing is so good in the winter time? My new theory is that for whatever reason fish are just easier to catch in cold water. The percentage of biters vs followers is much higher in the winter. Targeting individual fish with FFS just doesn't work as well in warmer months. Look at the pro tournaments this year. The early tournament were dominated by the Scopers. I only saw one guy doing it in the Wheeler tournament over the weekend and he ran a long distance to target fish below Guntersville dam. My guess is he had success because of the cooler water below the dam. When they go up north in a few weeks, my guess is you will see FFS come into play again. I've had FFS a little over two years and I'm still learning but this has been my experience so far. In warm water expect more active fish that are harder to catch. In other words more followers that are less likely to bite. Don't waste too much time trying to get an individual fish to bite. I'm betting that what worked for you this March will start working again by next March. - Braid Digging in Help
