Lake Baccarac Trip October 2021 ~
Will watch the video but while I'm thinking about it: Every GoPro past GoPro 6 that I've used overheats like that, but moreso when using external power. I've tried everything and the only thing that works reliably is lowering to 1080p, or lowering the framerate, which I think is unacceptable. Or shutting it off every so often. The waterproof feature is why it retains heat like this, so say the GoPro techs. It's a known "feature". Some people claim you can remove the battery when using other power sources, it may help a little. Mine still shuts off and runs extremely hot. I don't need it to be waterproof really, so bummer there. I'm considering trading my 7 for a 6 on CraigsList because my 6 never has this problem and I've used it a lot in the sun. Every 7 I have used overheats, sometimes it takes an hour, sometimes less. You'll think it's a dead battery but it isn't. I used 3 GoPro 7s one night to record a friend's band and that's when I discovered the issue. Was indoors too. The cameras plugged into external power would fail. GoPro suggests as possible fixes: making sure you are using a recommended SD card, making sure to format it properly (as per their specific instructions). Nothing helps for me. Maybe dunk it in the water every so often. It is a problem for me too. I have a 7 and a 6 and see no reason to upgrade, mainly because of heat issues. May actually downgrade the 7 to a 6.

“Improved” Wacky Rig: Tubing Help?
Poking an even bigger hole in a Senko to keep it from tearing seems counterproductive. Doesn't seem better than shrink tubing and other non-damaging methods.

Help Me Outfit My Bass Fishing Kayak
If a fish finder draws 1 amp (I think my Echomap 6 inch does) then a 7 hour battery is good for about 3.5 hours if it is lead acid. You can only use half the amp hours of a lead battery without damaging it. This is why I got two 11 ah batteries. Can use for a few days without recharging, and I can charge cameras, phones and use lights as well. the batteries go in a DIY power box, and that goes in the milk crate.

Will a LiFePO4 battery burn out a trolling motor?
Sounds like hogwash to me. If not get a new motor because the one you have must be poo. Maybe someone here will correct me so don't go by my advice only but it sounds completely false.

Friendly fishing bets. ?
One of the most fun times I've had fishing was me and a buddy surf fishing for perch, and we made it a contest after he caught the first two. We were running around the beach acting crazy, talking a little fun-smack, and he beat me 13-12. It was my first time surf fishing and he said he'd never even come close to catching that many before or since. I even added a scoreboard to the video. No prize or anything, winning was enough and it was just for fun.

California rain!
A few days ago I heard it was the northern states and northern Cali that were supposed to get wet. That's good that rain is falling south of that too. "They" say it's probably going to be a La Nina year which would mean dry. I really hope they are wrong! I want to hit the Delta at Mossdale for half a day wed or thurs. Keeping my eye on the weather.

Aaron Martens update....
Not disagreeing, but they are asking for money too. I wouldn't have known about the GoFundMe if the poster in question hadn't mentioned it. I can say with certainty that doctors do heal people, and that they cost money. Giving money seems like a practical way of helping to me. I lost my step mother a few years ago to cancer. None of it helped.

Tournament entitlement?
Some of it does. I was mainly referring to livewells and boats blowing by too close, but I also have never had any issues with kayakers at all. Maybe something about the size of the boat gives some people the feeling they can push others around, kinda like big trucks on the road. Boat vs kayak happens all the time, tournament or not. Boaters seem entitled. I've never had an issue or an unfriendly word from a kayaker on the water. Maybe simply because we can't outrun whoever we happen to tick off. Never been cut-off, never had someone deliberately cast on top of my bait.

How much wasted tackle?
To all who say, "I'll use them someday", the Bait Monkey Support Group thread is down the hall to the right. I think that's one of the top excuses he programs us all to use. Bait Monkey: "Hey Mike....." - You need this now - It'll never be this price again - It'll be out of stock forever due to Covid (new excuse that works for me!) - You'll use it someday - You have more money in your account than you thought - Timmy is too dumb for college - You want a divorce anyways

jerkbaits from an inflatable kayak causes spinning
Sometimes I will hold my rod out a different direction to steer the boat the other way. Example, if I cast to the side and reel in and my yak starts spinning one way, I will hang the rod tip toward the back of the yak which turns the boat the other direction. Like an anchor trolley. It effectively changes the point of um can't think of the word. The center of the kayak is like the fulcrum point. Where the rod tip is in relation to this will decide which way the boat spins. Edit: I have a very small one handed paddle for quick corrections. I rarely use it but it works well.

What's your method of cracking-the-code on a new lake?
Me at new lake: "Aw crap what am I gonna do? Hmm what do I have tied on already..." I'm starting to fish the Delta and every day feels like a new lake even from the same launch LOL.

I never enter giveaways or raffles. I just don't care and am cynical. Maybe if it was for charity I would.

Bass during rain?
It finally rained a little here. I had a flat tire a few nights ago on the freeway and I said to myself, "It's gonna rain on me when I start to change it, right?" I'm just glad I survived. Getting a blowout on hwy 580 at 70 mph was not fun. I hate that road and everyone on it. But the rain is welcome.

Help Me Outfit My Bass Fishing Kayak
I would make sure that the battery that fits in a CellBlock is big enough for what you need. Looks like it holds 7 - 9 amp hours. If you use AGM batteries you can only use half of that before needing to recharge. If you have to power a light or cameras then you may need more power, or if you plan to fish more than one day. Maybe a lithium would fit with more amp hours. Just a thought. Also can you mount the battery next to the power block part of a CellBlock rather than on top? That would lower the whole thing a good 4-5 inches I'd guess.

Topwater On Spinning Reels
Only time that happens to me is if it's windy or if I screw up. I've never had that happen with a top water due to walking or jerking and I use spinners a lot. I agree the spool looks too full. When I see this happen it usually goes under the spool, even around my handle. It's never barely off the spool like that. My two cents.

Japanese ingeniuty again
I think a nose hooked worm has more realistic action, though I'm not sure I've ever actually seen a worm swimming before. I dang well know I haven't seen one break dancing like in the video though. But who knows.

Help Me Outfit My Bass Fishing Kayak
Just want to second the idea of going out and trying the yak a few times before buying anything. You could even stack, strap or mount some stuff on it that simulates a fish finder. See if that gets in the way. I like to keep my FF low so it's out of my way. If you mount it on a track you can always slide it forward or back as well. Figure out how you're going to store your gear. My first time out I had a back pack. Kind of a pain and it got wet. Then I bought a milk crate and customized it. Part of the fun is figuring out what you need and experimenting. Have fun with it! You need a spot for food and water too. Random thoughts: I keep some paracord in my yak for tying to docks and such, and any tools I may need to tighten things on it. I have a headlight, some tape, bandages, maybe an extra Clif bar or similar. I have a pole with a bright yellow flag on it, it fits in a rod holder for now. Has a light on top too - made it myself. And strap everything down that you don't want to lose. One of those mini portable water filters would be nice on longer trips, think I'm gonna grab one
- you guys decide

What App You River And Creek fisher Using?
I did a video or two showing how you can sometimes get Street View near rivers if there's a walking path nearby. I knew a gal who was a pedestrian version of a Google Camera car and she'd walk trails with a backpack and the 360 camera over her head. Sometimes people upload photos to the maps as well. One important thing to find is where to park and how you can access the river, so having as many roads mapped out as possible is ideal (Google). You also need to know where private property is, sometimes the map can help. Once I find a spot I will sometimes do a general web search and see if anyone has fished there. Youtube videos for sure. Every bit helps. Sometimes it's a well known spot, other times I find no info. Finally, sometimes you just have to go out there and get dirty. I bring a machete and get a lot of foxtails in my socks, but if you do this you can find some great spots that are rarely fished, seems that way anyways. Sometimes if there's no path then you are on the right path!
