Just bought my annual self gift! My 2022 fishing license
I thought there were senior discounts? And I didn't even use my second rod once this year that I paid extra for! Probably will this year with the new yak/trolling the Delta. But that's what I said last year.

Just bought my annual self gift! My 2022 fishing license
Fishing license prices by state: https://hookedinfishing.com/fishing-license-cost-by-state/ Good to see Cali is the highest by a good margin. Shocked I tell ya! I'm not going to fish during the winter probably so I guess I can wait as long as possible to get mine since it's good for 356 days now.

The Found Lures Thread
Rest of the story: After 3 weeks I saw my sign was gone and it looked like nobody would claim the combos. I finally bought an FMG rod for one of the reels, I forget what reel it was. Black Maxx I think. Was gonna give away the other combo I figured. They were cheap combos so I thought they may have been someones only gear and wanted to get it back to them. Anyways, after the rod arrived I heard from the owner like the next day. He even described the baits tied on. So I ended up with a new rod with no reel and the bait monkey told me I should buy a Daiwa Fuego to match it. I love the reel and it's the most I've spent on a combo yet. Love the rod too. So we all ended up happy - owner, me and the bait monkey! Found lure story: I may be repeating myself in this thread but I did find a lure on the ground one day that "saved the day". I was at a pond playing around with some bluegill that were prepping and guarding beds right in front of me, I guess. Never seen that before at the time, bass or bluegill, but I recognized the behavior thanks to my years of study at BassResource! I threw this and that (mainly a Beetle Spin with the spinner part pulled off) trying to get them to bite but they just stole the tiny plasics and spit em out. There was a pile of them forming! Then I found a tiny hair jig, I guess it was, on the ground. Tiny, yellow with white hairs for a tail. I caught 8 gills and a bass with it! Was cool watching the bluegill immediately return to their spots when released. They seemed to be establishing beds cuz they were chasing each other away from them. One fish I caught twice. The next time I brought the bait near him he'd swim away, so I stopped at that point and let them do their thing. I found these baits at Walmart later and picked some up. I have the whole thing on video, as always, but not that exciting to post probably.

The Found Lures Thread
Found 2 rods on shore this year at the creek. Seemed odd. I fished later than normal hoping the owner would come back, guarding the rods from would be thiefs. When nobody came for them I took them home. Went back to the creek the next day and put up a sign: "Fishing rods found! Email me and describe them and they are yours!" I also put up a video on my Youtube channel. I was hoping these rods didn't belong to the jerks who leave garbage at that spot. If I knew they had I may have kept them. An entire month later a guy emails me describing the rods perfectly. Said his friend sent him a photo of my sign. He came to pick them up from me. Said he was fishing with his 11 year old son and the boy had a seizure right on the bank. Helicopter airlifted him from the creek and he had to abandon the rods. One of the rods was given to him by his grandfather. I am so glad this guy got his rods back. That really made me feel good. I don't know what happened with his son. He said he was still "touch and go" at that time. I hope they got to fish again.

Just bought my annual self gift! My 2022 fishing license
I didn't realize you could buy them before the year is over as that is when they expire. Cool good to know. I wonder if Cali loses money because of the hard expiration date of Jan 1st? My sister and my Dad both declined to buy a license late in the year because they'd have to buy a new one soon after, so ther's 2 lost purchases. Stupid rule.

Are You Fast or Sloooowwwww?
Some people call me slow. My Mom says I'm special! Yep, last summer I was using a T-rigged worm slowly and I decided next cast to just rip one back as soon as it hit the water. Caught one. Here it is, vid should start at that point if anyone cares.

Caught a bass while snagged . Has this happenned to you?
Late this year I was yak fishing on the Delta. I was using a spinning setup and the line somehow got wrapped around the handle and spool housing....oh come on it's happened to you too!!! A bass grabbed it and was jumping out of the water as I tried to untangle the line. It got away. Three hours later I had no other bites.

Happy holidays
Nice! I'm hanging out with a friend tonight who is Jewish. As for myself I'm non-religious, we both really are. Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Happy Holidays, Kwanza, Boxing Day, have a great Saturday and anything else I may have missed. And go fishing when you can!

The New Tech
Of course anyone would be a fool not to use it if big money was involved and the electronics were allowed. As a less than casual tourney watcher I'd like to see electronics limited in them. Most sports do have limitations on equipment (no rocket-powered shoes in track n field...) But then who would promote all the newest gadgetry? I guarantee you the manufacturers would fight to keep them in tournaments for that reason.

Favorite sandwich shop
https://losofoodie.com/eating-low-sodium-at-jersey-mikes/ I used to go to a cheese steak place until I saw how much sodium is in their BREAD alone! It is recommended that people eat less than 2000 mg of sodium a day. I taste salt in everything these days from hamburgers to Boston Market. It's disgusting. I make my own food more and more because of this, not to mention the added sugar they use. So my favorite sandwich shop is my kitchen! All the other ones I've ever liked are small mom and pops shops.

Tackle backpack with rod holders
Yep. One thing I learned about hiking along steep banks is to carry the rods in your "downhill hand", that way when you slip and fall you won't use the hand with the rods in it to break your fall.
-
Tackle bag versatility
Backpack carries: - up to two 3600s, with a little bit of everything in them. - one very small double sided terminal box. - water, multitool, some food, scale, GoPro accessories. Napkins for whatever. Sunscreen. - some plastics. - I bring one or two rods. Sometimes my telescopic rod is my 2nd, since it fits in the backpack. Kayak I often bring the same 2 boxes, though maybe swap out some baits depending on where I'm going. But I can put 5 Planos in there and it adds virtually nothing to the weight, so no reason not to. Depends on the situation. More food, more water. I have plenty of space leftover.

Tackle warehouse scam
Eight pages of this proves otherwise. I appreciate being able to discuss this here and I don't see anyone holding back their honesty. Flippant comment ignored.

Tackle warehouse scam
I don't see any "whining", I see an informative thread. I see fair criticism and concern. If this thread gets out of hand it will be locked by moderators, and I'm sure this is a tricky situation for the staff here. We all know they are a site sponsor. But because of that, if people here weren't allowed to discuss this as we are, fairly and non-hysterically, that wouldn't be fair to us. I wouldn't have known about this if not for this thread. My opinion.

Does anybody make their own soft plastics?
I said I wouldn't comment but I'm using the same thing and having great results as a beginner.

Tips for driving
Yep. Nothing worse than a bad boat operator, and there are a lot of them. If you have no on-the-water experience then take a class and go boating with an experienced friend, for all our sakes. A-Jays advice previous page is spot on. Don't go fast on water you aren't familiar with. I saw what was pretty much a floating island on the Delta two years ago. A mound of dirt is what it looked like. Even had a tree sticking out of it, and a lotta logs and junk floating near it as it traveled downriver. My friend George sent me this video of it (that's not my voice). The water was flowing really high that year.

Tackle warehouse scam
Looking at some other forums it seems the stolen card #s were still being used as of Dec 9th. Latest claim I've found anyways, and I didn't look very hard. I've never shopped there but if I did I would contact my bank and get a new card. I've seen other claims made about how it has been handled but without knowing all the facts I can not comment.

Tribute To The Bank Fisherman!
Yep. And the post below yours shows what I already thought was true - that Florida doesn't charge for many or most places. I don't feel I'm getting my money's worth in any way in this state.

A Fishing Day Story (Surprise Catch)
Was bank fishing stripers at the Delta one night using cut anchovies with a buddy. I hooked the biggest catfish I've ever hooked. Buddy went to net him - it was right against the shore and had my light shining on him, and he did a barrel roll and got loose. Okay let's go for cats! Casted again and caught another heavy fish! Took awhile to get it to shore, and it was a huge tree branch. Landed it though!

Diminishing returns.
Something like: X = ((how much I want to spend) + (how much I can afford to spend)) / 2; If married { X = X / 3; }
