  1. I always found August to be one of the slowest months of the year. Dog days! However in another month thing should pick up significantly. Especially after those first few "chilly" nights.
  2. Not guaranteed, but best chances will be Okeechobee and Fellsmere in that area.
  3. It's that time of the year! Another month and things should pick up.
  4. Fishing is tough down here right now. We are experiencing very high heat with no relief in sight. Water temp. is way up and the fish are pretty lethargic. Algae blooms are also quite common. Go out early at sunrise as the bite is generally over by 9 a.m.
  5. You should be good bait wise. Just a matter of finding the fish. ?
  6. How's the bridge traffic? Things must be in full swing about now. ?
  7. Are you out in a boat, kayak? Just work the bank with a worm or a soft stickbait (Senko) until you find fish. They are there!
  8. Seafury, take the yak out! It is a little intimidating at first until you get used to being around them. I'm a northern boy who now lives in FL. For the most part they want nothing to do with you. They are curious and will occasionally pop their head up next to you. I am out in the yak with them 2-3 times a week. As Koz stated the little ones are more of a PIA. Just be aware when launching and unloading. Be aware when landing a fish. The more disturbance there is the more likely they will be attracted. Just always be aware of your surroundings and you will be fine. We are not on the menu!
  9. Good advice Koz. Not just for SC but for most of the SE in general. When bank fishing you absolutely have to watch every step you take.
  10. Peacocks? Very nice! I am jealous. I live in Punta Gorda and go kayak fishing. The area is infested with small bass. I very rarely break 2 lbs! It is what it is. I just keep my expectations low. ?
  11. Nice variety. Good job figuring it out.?
  12. Nice weather and no reports? ?
  13. Anything can happen. It's a reaction bait as you know. It can get you bites when things are slow.
  14. Throw a rattle bait into the mix also. ?
  15. Massa2shits! I used to live in Whitman. Have to say I do miss the fishing up there. Go Sox! ?
  16. Weather will be the wild card! September is one of the more unstable months. Hot and very humid is a given. Get out early. Storms can be severe and usually happen in the afternoon. The guide will know how to read the sky.
  17. That's a very isolated area. Not too long ago coming back from Lauderdale I took 27 to Clewiston. I wasn't real comfortable but would have loved to have stopped and fished those canals. I didn't check but can you even get phone reception out there?
  18. Very nice! Sounds like you had a very busy and successful trip. ? Any critter encounters? ?
  19. Also, don't get all caught up in the excitement of fishing and forget about your surroundings. You have to be aware of the wildlife and the critters that roam these parts. There are a lot of things that can get you, especially if you are not paying attention. Good luck.
  20. Nothing weird about it! That's the way it is. Best way to ruin a fishing spot is to post the name and location online. Especially if you had a great outing. Many spots have been destroyed that way. If you are interested as to where someone has been fishing you can try to get info through a PM but that is unlikely.
  21. That's great open water January fishing! ?
  22. That's a tough call. If they don't own the land you were fishing from you would think that it would be ok. Florida freshwater fishing is very frustrating. I gave up chasing Google maps. I would get to a pond only to find it posted, fenced in or heavily surrounded by vegetation. If I come across a pond that is not visibly posted I will fish it until I am told that I can't. I no longer argue with people. It's just not worth it.
  23. Get your ice gear ready! ?
  24. Being a FL boy you are not going to enjoy that weather! I couldn't do it!
  25. Frezzy - Suspending jerkbaits for a slow presentation, rattlebaits for the reaction bite.
