I never seriously fished it, but I know there are good fish in there. An aquaintance of mine has caught some good ones there. It is a herring fed pond so that can produce some big fish!

So many places to fish in Maine. Pretty much limitless. Decisions, decisions. ?

Did you have any alligator encounters? Having one pop up next to you can be frightening if you are not used to seeing or being around them.

As previously stated mating season is starting. The males are staking out their territory now. Give them a wide birth as you will be considered an intruder and driven out. Alligator mating is a wild scene!

Well said. The ones that disappear underwater are the ones that make me nervous. When they are visible at least you know where they are. I have paddled over quite a few in shallow water that were sitting on the bottom.

I try to get a fish to the kayak as fast as possible. The longer you play a fish the more likely it is to attract a gator. My biggest concern is reaching into the water to grab a fish. They have incredible speed and power and can very easily tip a kayak over. If you end up in the water all bets are off!

No. Water is too brackish. You would have to go up river well past the 75 bridge. You can catch redfish, snook, jacks, etc. in that area.

That is a tough area to find public access spots to fish. It is heavily developed and most bodies of water are within housing developments and golf courses. Perhaps someone will have a spot or two for you. Good luck!

April is a tough month! Too many cold fronts and bluebird skies. I wouldn't go on a 5 hr. road trip that time of the year.

This time of year jerkbaits and rattle baits will produce. If the grass is still heavy using those will be difficult. Try a weightless fluke, senko, worm and a jig. ?

I used to wade around Little South this time of year. I don't ever remember weeds being a problem. Must be something recent. You should have hit Little like I keep saying. The trout bite is on this time of year!

Stick to the shallow and smaller bodies of water. Makes it a little easier to find them. It is hit or miss this time of the year. Throw a jerkbait or Ratltrap for starters. Some ponds are good in the cold, some not so much.

I saw a post a few years ago about someone catching smallies there. I didn’t believe it, with the place being so shallow. I fished it a couple of years ago with waders and caught a few off the point to the right of the boat launch. They are in there! ?

You should save some driving time and hit Little. The trout should be in full swing with some bass mixed in. And you can also hit Billington for some smallies and picks. I would love to be up there right now!

You never know! I have caught fish in the snow out in the kayak in November! Not the most pleasant conditions though.

Claw type of anchor can be dangerous in the yak on a windy day. You have to be ready to cut that anchor line if necessary. I never use an anchor, I prefer to drift when in the wind.

Don't forget the Ratltrap! It can be a killer bait this time of year.

Did it a few seasons up there. If you can find moving water I suppose it is possible. Can't keep those fingers warm though! ?
