  1. I spend 8-5 trying to catch fisherman, and all the rest of the time trying to catch fish. Its my life. I have noticed that I have begun hanging up all my lures and moving to live and dead bait. Something about just relaxing and watching the bobber/rod tip has become more exciting than the endless lure chunking.
  2. I think we have conquered the "lighter" selling point on reels. We are a getting to an average of 6oz for most baitcasters now. I know they will be pushing that shortly with the carbon fiber gears, but come on 6oz is pretty dang light even if your chunking for a couple hours.
  3. I stick with the tried and true, and rarely venture out to far beyond that.
  4. Still bare down here in Texas.
  5. This does not apply to all the new solid carbon rods coming about. 90 degree is highly encouraged
  6. In that price range its whatever IM6 I can find. Probably a lightning rod or something.
  7. Wow you got 315yds on that shallow spool!!
  8. What we call budget gear now, the guys fishing the Classics in the 80's and 90's called top of the line.I don't think we catch anymore fish now then they did. But most pro's are sponsored and will more than likely have high end stuff in their boat at all times.
  9. I can't begin to tell you how hard it actually is for a product developer to find someone good to test rods, reels and lures. 99% of the time you get the below. When you find someone good.....you hold on to them for dear life. * The yes person. Everything they get is cool and works great all the time.. every time. * The "got to find something wrong" person. Has never tested anything that worked right. * The "I go fishing litterly every weekend" person. Who's still never had a chance to get out on the water 8 months after receiving your samples.
  10. Jackpot as well!!! Thank you very much Siebert!! These will see water this weekend!!!
  11. Not to many of those out there anymore. I would personally hold onto them if I were you.
  12. My loot is shipping out tomorrow!
  13. I am leaning toward trying out the Edge boxes. For me the biggest 3 peeves about the most standard 3600 and 3700's are the hooks jumping around, loss of clear visibility and the failing pressure latches. Thinking of gluing one of these foam sheets from hobby lobby to the inner lid to prevent the hooks from shifting. Of course this will cost me my visibility.
  14. Carbon is a term that is thrown around loosely in the fishing industry with no real standards in place. Depending on the temps carbon is treated to it can be different strengths. Some reel manufactures who claim carbon and just using cheap graphite, and then others will use carbon fiber impregnated ABS. The ratio of carbon fiber to ABS makes a big difference. Usually the ones using a high % of carbon fiber will use it on the sideplates only. Aluminum is what it is. Strong, lightweight and durable with few vague areas about it.
  15. Yeah I could go into full detail as well as this is my life. We have moved some business back to the U.S. but hardbaits are still no where near what we are getting out of China. But to your point I do see a lot more domestic rotomolding companies branching into the plastic injection so thats promising.
  16. Sure wish that was the case, but unfortunately I do not believe that all/most lure manufacturing will return to the U.S. Soft plastic maybe....but not hardbaits.

  20. Thats a pretty big claim! I will have to check this rod out!
  21. I always took it as "happy" Blade
  22. I used to use them all the time, but gradually have transitioned to about 90% plastics when using arties. But have really gone the live bait route the last couple years.
