Trolling motor plastic broke
I back my boat into the slip to preclude that from happening.

Need Help Catching Snook
Try a magnum spook. When we had a place on the Manatee River that worked well.

What other species has your attention?
When I'm in FL I often throw a 1/32 oz beetle spin for any kind of bream that'll bite. I'll locate them by using a worm for bass and getting pecked on.

Rod Transformer
I've done it the other way twice and still use one of the rods. Like DVT and Mick said it's cheaper and easier to build a new rod.

Checklist for fishing
My wife asks, "do you have your safety gear"? Phone, life vest and epipen.

Living part time on the lake
When we're in GA my boat is in my buddy's dock, a 3 minute drive from our house. Love it. I can be fishing anytime in 5 minutes on a 38K acre lake or drive 5 minutes to 3 different ramps and trailer the boat anywhere. I'm also 30 minutes from river fishing for several different species of bass that I do in my kayak. In the winter time in FL I'm less than 30 minutes to 2 rivers, 5 lakes and the gulf takes 40 minutes. I have the best of all worlds if my old body can take it.

Sharrow Props?
To me they look too fragile for bassboat application, maybe ocean boats.

LM in the rain.
Light rain all morning but I braved it. Time for new rain pants. Caught my best @ Lake Lanier this year @ 4.51 with another 2.36 plus 6 Alabamas to 2.5 or so. Most on a worm with one on a walking bait and another on a fluke.

Cheap kayaks
I just, this evening, bought a pelican trailblazer 100 nxt. I have a fishing kayak that weighs 55 lbs that I can't handle anymore; a Perception Pescador. The Trailblazer weighs 36 lbs and is 10' long. The reviews are good and the price, with $20 off today, was less than $200 including tax and license.

From the Dock Monday 8pm
It would have been over 7 in February; great fish.

Fishing way too much
Yep, I'm like others that don't go nearly as long as they did before they got old/er. I go 4 or 5 hours 3 or 4 days a week and I'm drained. In January I had surgery and couldn't fish for a couple of months and looked @ the boat under the carport everyday; It killed me. I also have a wife that tells me to go fishing and quit chasing her around the house.

Ever go to the lake fully unrigged?
I leave all my rods rigged from the last trip but do check the line and retie if needed.

What I Remember About Bass Fishing
I have done float trips on several rivers in FL and GA where it seems like you're in wilderness. The Wacissa in N FL is one as are many in rural GA. Yes the Ocala Natl Forrest is a special place with many small lakes/ponds that are hard to access and they all hold bass and gators.

Good Alabamas.
Got out @ odark 30 this morning and threw a walking bait @ a point and caught a good, 15-16" Alabama. Caught another around a marker pole with a worm. Went to a few points and caught several good ones and a few dinks. Went to some deep brush piles and marked fish; dropped a worm and caught several more also with a fluke on a jighead. Saw some boiling out of casting range so I ran to them too late. Had the best morning in a while. No LM.

SPF light fishing pants?
Either Basspro or Academy zip off for kayak fishing and wet wading. Same for shirts, all long sleeves. Columbias are nice but I'm on a fixed income.

Hook wire gauge vs rod power
IMO the lb test of the line dictates the thickness of the hook. I tend to bend the barb down with light, 6 or 4 lb, line.

I struck out, but the pond hit a home run for me.
Beautiful place. I can't say the fish are just the bonus cus they aren't. You're not there for a boat ride. My day was also good with many Alabama bass.

The unthinkable
I quit losing cushions when I began wrapping the strap around the shifter handle. Losing rods kicking them overboard isn't hard. Sorry for your losses but enjoy the new stuff.

Fishing again.
Thanks everyone. My dad said, "it's a bixxxh to get old" and he was right.

A Slew of Slabs
Agree with everyone; pictures are great.

Lake Lanier
I fish early mornings weekdays and it's usually not too bad. Laural Park, Little River and Clarks Bridge boat ramps all get you to the upper end of the lake and they're all free. Browns Bridge is the dividing line for the lower lake and upper lake. Sounds like you're catching fish so keep on doing what you're doing.

Color for polarized sunglasses?
I used to use the fold down clip ons and a buddy had me try his Coocoons over glasses. The difference was striking. Amber is the color I use. They have a BOGO sale a couple times a year.

Fishing again.
Finally got back to fishing Wednesday and Thursday this week and did fairly well for not fishing Lake Lanier since January. 14 Alabamas and 1 LM with the largest Alabama on a walking bait @ 2.87lbs. Fished 4-5 hours per day and back home for my infusion before noon.

pushing the limits
No mention about the cost.

Second best PB
That's a doozy, congrats.
