  1. At a real busy ramp I'd do as Toxic said. Some one would always give you a ride out to your boat.
  2. Not too much yearly but we moved to GA in '99 next to Lake Lanier and bought 2 vacation homes in FL so I could fish whenever I wanted.
  3. I go fishing almost every weekday if it's not blowing 20mph or 100* outside. All winter I launch my boat somewhere close; I have a bunch of places less than 1/2 hour away. We also live on a pond so I usually throw a worm or frog before breakfast and sometimes catch a fish. In summer I fish Lake Lanier several times a week unless I'm fishing a river, in my kayak, for the GA Bass Slam. I use by buddy's dock on the lake about 1/4 mile from our house. BTW I'm 81.
  4. It's a long video but all encompassing on bass.
  5. While fishing a canal last winter I broke off on a fish. Fished the canal for about an hour came back and caught the same fish with my hook in it's face. If a worm fisherman was ahead of me I'll go elsewhere but if a moving bait guy is there I'll go right in.
  6. 151 for us and wifey is 12 years younger than me.
  7. Scratch my last post. I went to the wrong place, senior moment.
  8. Yesterday on a buzzbait hooked on the outside of the mouth through the mouth and into the head. Took a while to get the hook out and the fish released.
  9. Yes it's the same article.
  10. I just read an article about Butch Brown on the front page of the Los Angeles Times. It outlined how he goes about catching DD bass.
  11. I've fished the Savannah River in a kayak from the Savannah Pavilion. Lots of bass, smallmouth, Bartrams and LM.
  12. I came out of the grocery store one day to find my receiver 1/2 out of the mount. Someone wanted it more than I did but got scared off. I remove mine now.
  13. You hear of people catching a boot, well I actually did. Yes I took a picture.
  14. I have a 16' bassboat with a 45hp engine and changed props last year. Top speed is now 30 and before the $300 prop it was 28. Is it worth $300 for 2 mph; not to me.
  15. I use a 16' tin bassboat in rivers, small lakes and Lake Lanier and feel very safe. I don't fish on weekends when all the big cruisers are out on Lanier.
  16. If you know you're going to be trolling that day you can change the prop to a short one. Just don't over rev when changing places.
  17. A cardboard box with v notches and a heavy book for thread tension. I made reamers from a dowel with a notch cut in the end with sandpaper stuffed into it and chucked in a drill motor. I made a dryer from a bbq spit motor 50 years ago that I still use.
  18. You can get a 50 ah lithum for $220 @ amazon. I've been using one for my trolling motor for several months with good results.
  19. SkinnyWaterBasser, The under 3 oz rods are both built on a Rainshadow IMMWS62MFX 6'2" 6-15 lb line 1.2 oz. I use 6 lb mono and have caught over 6 lb bass and 8 lb bowfin/mudfish.
  20. I build for a specific purpose, to have the most sensitive rod I can get. I doesn't hurt if it's the lightest also. As for infrastructure all I have is a dryer that I made from a BBQ spit motor 40 years ago.
  21. I have a couple of rods that weigh less than 3 oz and they are built on Rainshadow Immortal blanks with Minima or Mudhole SSR guides. One is paired with an under 6 oz Okuma RTX 30 reel. The whole rig weighs less than 10 oz with line, sinker and hook. I use it several times a week and It's a pleasure. The other has a Pflueger President 20 reel that I use in my kayak. I made it shorter to cast under trees on the river but has still brought in 4 lb Shoal and Alabama Bass.
  22. I've used the SSR guides on a few rods and for the first guide I use a match guide and maybe the 2nd then all the rest are #5s with a ceramic tip top. I have grooved minima and SSR tip tops.
