Went Thursday 12 am and fished to 8:30 am. Started under a nice bright night light(96% Moon) and tried all my Summer night lures for 86 degree water at all my spots. Around 4 am I sat down drank some coffee and had some crackers and tried to devise a new and improved plan. My new plan consisted of continuing to keep moving and do what I was doing until the bite opened. So I did and at 6 am I hooked a 5 - 5.5 LM on a black quad blade buzzbait in 18 inches of water and she was angry but I was able to get her boat side and with my net in hand she jumped and was gone. I wasn't upset just glad I was given a sign of what to do. So for the next two hours I threw buzzbaits which turned out to be casting practice that produced 0 fish. At 8 am I headed back out to a 13' deep hump surrounded by 60 FOW and threw a shakey head and caught my one little baby bass in 28 FOW. I cast a few more minutes and loaded up because that heat lamp was cooking me. I love it. I'm going tonight for some more casting practice.

Clearly a Diawa and Shimano yard isn't equal which explains why the Daiwa fan boys think they cast farther. ?

I've caught a mess of bass on the Black Magic with 8' of visibility. They'd probably never seen a black SB on our clear lake because it'd never work.?

Our water temps have been 84 - 85 which is about the peak temp I hope. We've had a 18 minute from daylight Buzzbait bite for the last 4 weeks. Once the sun hits the water a Spook pulls a few if we've got a ripple on the surface. Our water clarity is 6 - 10' & it's a Blueback herring lake. The last 5 weeks I've been starting at 2am and leaving by 10am and my catch rates have increased. Here's a 4am 4.3.

I'd target the incoming water first and then fish what looks good shallow with a Chatterbait, Spinnerbait, Super Fluke, and Stickworm.

With Spotlock holding my boat position in the wind and my 360 Imaging running I fish a 2.8 Keitech on a 1/8 oz jighead down to 40 FOW chasing Spots. Under 30 FOW and inside of an 80' cast I feel as I can drag across targets the size of a car tire consistently.

I hookup with 1 - 12 lb stripers occasionally while bass fishing on my 2500 Stradic ci4+ and it handles them easily.

Rod and reel should work fine. You didn't mention the line or bait. Most mono and fluorocarbon's have a good bit of stretch. The lighter the line and longer the cast the more the line stretches, couple that with a bait that's too thick for a 3/0 and you've got a recipe for early release. Most of us have lost some Pigs.
