Japan Tariffs
FYI, this morning I received an email from one of the Japan distributors of a flash sale on Shimano products, prices were in Yens; Metanium, Calcutta, Antares, etc., 8-30% off. I'm a Daiwa guy and didn't spend much time looking, but thought some of you may be interested; there were about a dozen reels and 3 rods.

Japan Tariffs
This makes me wonder if Shimano makes rods and reels in Japan, and their lures come from China.

Japan Tariffs
I did not see that one, which came from Shimano. The one I received today was from a US distributor, it stated 22%, and claimed Shimano was requiring it.

Japan Tariffs
I was just informed by a well known distributor that Shimano products will increase 22% tomorrow, 8/18/25. On line orders placed today will not be increased.

Do you think it really makes a difference what bladed jig trailer you use?
In my experience, Elaztech products display less action than others; also, their buoyance may make them more difficult to efficiently work certain depths. There is no doubt they will last longer than others.

HOT WATER FISH
Ski, how high do the water temps get down there?
-
HOT WATER FISH
Yes.

HOT WATER FISH
I live and fish in the Ozarks, where most lakes are known to be deep and clear. The recent very hot weather has raised surface temperatures to about 90 degrees, and Fish and Game is advising "catch and keep". This is because a combination of the hot water and low levels of oxygen will cause the demise of stressed out fish when released. I'm curious about how this compares to the situations in the shallow Florida lakes.

The BPS store I was referring to is in St. Louis.

Japan Tariffs
The Egg wakebait. This spring it was $4.99, myself and 3 friends each bought one. Recently it was $5.99 and jumped to $7.99, only available for in-store purchases since they sold out in the spring and re-stocked. There was a discussion on this lure a short while back on Bass Resource.

Japan Tariffs
A friend of mine was at a BPS last week and I asked him to pick up 2 colors of a specific lure for me; I had already checked the price on line. He took them off the display which was priced as it showed on line. The cashier scanned the bar code and the price was 33% higher. My friend put up a fuss and received the as marked price; he was told the prices were going up so fast that store employees were not able to change them fast enough to keep up with the cash registers. That 33% increase was on top of a 20% increase the lure received earlier this year. It's made in China.

BPS Fluoro?
Many of the pros seen using it are likely sponsored by Bass Pro.

Japan Tariffs
I was just notified by Asian Portal that there will be no new tariffs on personal purchases under $800 until 8/29/25; thought some members may be interested.

ShArPnEsS - The Truth About Hooks
Years ago I quit using Bass Pro products because of poor hooks.

BTW Katie, how are your eyes?
I bet everything looks clearer and brighter to you already; I'm getting my second eye done tomorrow and actually looking forward to it. Too hot here to fish much anyway. Best wishes to you.

Counting bass
It's easy to remember Cunningham's jersey number; best looking legs in the WNBA. This IS a Bass fishing forum, right?

Manns 12" Jelly Worm
I agree that Bass can be overly ambitious. I once extracted a 13" Cottonmouth who's tail was sticking out of the mouth of a 12" Smallmouth; fortunately for me the snake was already dead and digestion had begun.

Counting bass
I use a clicker; don't pull it out unless I surpass about 6 fish. I find them in a golf department.

The official "Who's drinking tonight?" thread
New Glarus is only sold in Wisconsin; I have relatives there who bring that gift when they visit. Good stuff!

Rare animal sigthings
Watched a Cougar run through my back yard this spring; very happy my Border Collie was inside at the time, she would have taken up chase for sure. Where I live in North Central Arkansas there are more deer than rabbits or squirrels; we probably have more Cougars than is believed.

Onboard charger replacement recommendations ?
I had that same charger in a 4 bank; problem after problem. Mfg replaced it once, maybe twice, and it was sent in for warrantee repair 4 times. Had it 5 years. When it failed again only 3 months after the last repair, I gave it away to someone who needed only 2 of the remaining 3 banks. After talking with 3 marina mechanics I bought the one they all recommended. Maybe I was jinxed, as I know others who have never had a problem with the one I gave away.
