  1. 10# mono and fluoro are generally considered the heaviest most want to use on the President; if you are referring to braid, 12# is not be a problem on the same size President. Unlikely the Daiwa in a size 3000 would be any different.
  2. Muck Boots get around; very popular in the Ozarks. I wear them for getting in and out of my trout boat on the White River.
  3. I keep a disposable container on board; it makes the act safer, eliminates "dribbling" on the boat, and does not foul the water.
  4. A good quality BFS rod and reel set up will renew your game plan and feed the monkey too.
  5. An atmospheric change which caused me to move 600 miles south. My boat stays in the slip and batteries plugged in all year.
  6. 90 degrees in the Ozarks.
  7. I'm on a large, deep lake in the Ozarks. Water temps at 5:30 in the morning are 90 degrees and rising; had my first skunk a couple weeks ago. May be time to consider a cabin in the north woods.
  8. Look at the bright side, Katie! I had the first one done a couple weeks ago and cannot wait for the next. I went fishing the day after surgery and my only restriction was not to lift over 20 pounds......definitely not a problem. I was also reading and tying knots without my regular glasses or magnifiers, wow! Umm, I lived in San Francisco in the 60's and know how you were able to see those colors.
  9. Alberto, Uni, Palomar, and Loop Knot cover all bases for me; just had cataract surgery and hope to get rid of reading glasses. FG never.
  10. 100% agree with DARTH-BAITER. Go to a fly fishing shop and buy a tube of Loon UV Knot Sense; if your wallet can stand it, also pick up a UV Nano Light. Don't wet your leader knot with saliva; instead, apply a small drop of Knot Sense and smooth it on the tied knot with fingers. If not fishing in bright sunlight, take about 20 seconds to cure it with the Nano Light. Your knot will not fray or slip and will pass thru the guides more smoothly. I know I'm not the only member of this group experiencing age related fumbling fingers and blurry eyesight, so here is another tip for tying that Alberto Knot : the Uncle Jim Alberto Knot Tyer (unclejimtool.com). I bought one and use it at home; after some practice, I bought another to keep on the boat. It can be mounted on a fixed object with velcro, or a small piece of wood to hold in your lap; I leave it in a bin until needed.
  11. There are a lot of lightweight buzzbaits available.
  12. After all these years, I still score with a black Jitterbug.
  13. I have my 1960's Army Issue combat boots, web belt, and buckle from Fort Benning, Ga.. I still wear the belt sometimes, but my feet have grown two sizes; today I wear New Balance and have a hard time accepting they cost almost $200.
  14. Zillion SV TW 100L 6.3 gear ratio.
  15. Mustad and Scottsboro look to have everything I want, and more. Thanks for the help!
  16. While we are all looking, I have been trying to find 5/0 and 6/0 hook sizes in 1/8, 3/16, 1/4, and 3/8 oz. ball jigheads. I would also appreciate any leads. Thanks.
  17. Looks legitimately longer than 35". Nice fish.
  18. I keep a flogger in my boat at all times, only used it once. That one time it successfully located a $400 G. Loomis rod and $200 Daiwa reel that one of my friends knocked overboard.
  19. I went through several scales and they were either junk from the beginning, or were ruined from even the slightest amount of dampness. I finally bought the one MLF was using a couple years ago ( believe $100) and I never take it out of a zip lock bag unless I use it. So far so good.
  20. Skunkmaster, I presume you are trying to make a joke????
  21. I leave the slip at 5 A.M. and return before 9 A.M. when holiday crowds arrive; works for me.
  22. Very few colors and low stocks, select products only.
  23. I have a lot of tackle, way too much, and I've tried out nearly technique and lure type I can think of. HOWEVER, I'm curious to a fault! Whenever I see, hear about, or read of something new, I can't keep myself from investigating and trying it out if it makes sense to me. I have made a lot of purchases due to this habit of mine, many of them became "once and dones," while others became GOATS.
  24. I live on a lake, have a good boat, and enough tackle to become a Jr. Tackle Warehouse. Retired and unmarried, I have all the time to fish that I want. I enjoy experimenting with different lures and techniques even when people I know are catching lots of fish on something else. When I go home I update a very detailed logbook, plan, and re-rig for the next day; that is a good part of the enjoyment.
  25. The Egg definitely catches 'em. Never had the old ones, but customer reviews on the new one say the old was a little smaller and had more colors; most preferred the old. They are made in China, so get them while you can.
