Good quality BFS buzzbaits

Featured Replies

I've been looking for good quality 1/8 oz. buzzbaits, nothing with cheap skirts held on with rubber bands.  Any recommendations?

Cavitron comes in that size now. I dont have one but saw it advertised. The heavier  Cavitrons cast real well

Interesting. I never thought of using a bfs buzz bait. I’ll have to look into it more.

@Tackleholic Try checking in with Sieberts outdoors to see if he can make you some.

Sieberts does not show buzzbaits on their site;  already sent them an inquiry.  I like their wire tied skirts on other products.

Keep this post updated if you don’t mind as I’m just starting to dip my toes into the bfs game.

What have you used this far?

I know Strike King, Booyah, Baby Buzzbait all make 1/8oz.

Probably the highest quality off the top of my head would be Jackall Derabuzz..but in 3/16

Strike King Triwing in 1/8 oz. It gets on top fast and has a great sound. The skirt is not particularly hearty though so have a back up. Siebert’s skirt on the Triwing is about perfect.

I have not looked at Jackall yet;  every other brand shows rubber bands, which to me means questionable quality.

I dont understand rubber bands? The skirts may be removable but that doesnt mean cheap.

If you're main concern is the skirt, which by reading it appears to be, you can just get some floral wire and twist it around the rubber band, or in front or behind it.

Then use any buzzbait you like

From experience, skirt strands pull out and eventually the rubber band breaks down.  In the past I have tied fluorocarbon over the rubber bands.

Like everything it depends on the material of the collar. It’s very easy to toadd a quick 1/16th tie or wrap wire.

MicroBuzz from JigMasters is a nice little unit for what it is.

Booyah makes the Pond Magic Buzzbait in 1/8oz. Check out Discount Tackle

Try to find a  Terminator tiny buzz.

The smallest Whopper Plopper will fish like a buzz bait.

I have a WP60 and it blows out at a “speedy” retrieve. Like to keep it from blowing out, you have to reel it slow. So slow that sometimes the tail doesn’t even plop. That’s just my experience.

Use a Heddon Tiny Torpedo.

Thanks Allen. I’ll pick one up and give that a try. Might already have one, but it’s more fun to buy one instead of looking for one. 😂
