  1. For many years I tried to like mono but was never really satisfied with any of the many brands I used; until recently. I purchased a spool of Suffix Advance, the most expensive mono I've ever used; wow, what a winner! Definitely worth the cost.
  2. Look into Crappie rods, also Salmon and Steelhead rods.
  3. Some of the better waders do have a fly, well worth the upgrade price.
  4. In water that shallow you might try going with a weightless presentation; just my opinion.
  5. Waiting for my Tat 80 from them right now; had not heard of Shelton's before running across them while searching for that very reel on line two days ago. I'm much more than 45 minutes away.
  6. Some boats. I bought one of the first group of Vexus VX21's and loaded it with everything available at the time, figuring that at my age it would probably be the last boat I'll ever buy. The price of a duplicate has since skyrocketed and I don't know if I'm sad or glad to know what someone else will one day pay for my used boat; I still love it, and would not switch for anything else.
  7. So will I, but I may procrastinate awhile and hope to find a sale.
  8. I'm with you all the way for Loomis rods; big fan.
  9. Lately, my favorite U.S. distributors seem to have more out of stocks than before, but I still found a G Loomis rod and Daiwa reel for much less than I expected.
  10. That is a good case for having a trolling motor with remote control; if one keeps the remote on his/her person.
  11. I throw a lot of $25ish baits, but only where I can see bottom and reach it with my lure retriever. No guts.
  12. I'm primarily a top and shallow water guy; my lake is almost always pretty clear. About 3 weeks ago the water began turning a dirty green, and visibility which is usually 20 feet is now 2 feet and getting worse. Each time out I keep changing colors, rattles or not, walkers, poppers, or props. Fish are still here and they gotta' eat, but the bite has become tough. Some of you fish these conditions regularly and I'm curious how you deal with it. Thanks.
  13. I keep my opened super glue tubes in empty prescription vials; works for me.
  14. I bought my first bottle after my $18 Megabass Magdraft was torn apart on the first fish; good fish though.
  15. Stocking Foot all the way; I've used both.
  16. Sometime, less than a year ago, one of the major U.S.A. distributors (I'm inclined to say TW), published a very in depth article of BFS rods, reels, and line; it was based on test results of many different brands. I copied 13 pages of that article, which I still have, but left off the Distributor's name; possibly one of the members will recall. I used this information exclusively to purchase my two BFS combinations, and I truly love them both. I definitely recommend this article to anyone who can locate it and post a link for others.
  17. My problem with rusty hooks is on jigheads; some jigheads are kinda expensive nowdays. Most jighead hooks rust after being used with salty soft plastics, even if well dried after use. Would soaking them overnight in vinegar prevent this? Does anyone have a magic soaking solution?
  18. Last I checked they were only available for in store purchase, no longer on line. This past spring I paid $4.99, just got ahold of 2 more for $5.99 but they were priced at $7.99. Academy looks to have a slightly smaller version of the same lure, on line.
  19. Sounds familiar; are you sure it wasn't a Heddon Sonic?
  20. I agree with everyone's suggestions, lots of possibilities. IMO, like BOOMSTICK said, be sure to close the bail with your hand, not with the reel handle, BEFORE the lure hits the water. Secondly, now that your line is full of twists and you are a bank angler, definitely seek advice from this forum on how to remove those twists. JonB2 has another strong point, casting into the wind could be a cause of your problem; being a bank angler can make it difficult to avoid.
  21. I have the same one from year 19??. It still contains some old Uncle Josh and Junebug spinners.
  22. My absolute favorite way to fish. Shoes, shorts, belt pack, and only one rod; if I had a nearby place like the one I left behind I probably would not have bought a boat.
  23. I have 3 very full boxes of spinnerbaits, and Strike King Tour Grade double willow is my most productive in 3/8 and 1/2 with 2 nickel blades. Shad are my primary forage species, so I stick to shad color skirts and a 3 inch fork tail white trailer. I trim the skirt to allow a portion of the trailer to be exposed.
  24. With the Rapid Hook All, don't you have trouble getting them OFF the hook when you are finished using the bait?
