  1. Try a Trigged large Gene Larew salt craw in black or plumb they work good around here in timber and brush piles.
  2. I have been making soft plastics for probably longer than you have been alive. I do not save used baits because it takes dozens to be worth a remelt.
  3. I’m not sure about where you live but here if you guide on US Coast Guard controlled waters you have to take a test and get a Pilots license. If one fails to do so an gets caught the fine is calculated by days x 1000. So it’s a big deal. Check your local regs and see what you need to be legal. You will also probably need a commercial insurance.
  4. I’ve fished tubes, jigs, and spoons as deep as 65’.
  5. Our Conservation Department takes donations and offers free fishing days for kids and they furnish everything.
  6. I use Bar Bait where and when needed. https://kbchorsesupplies.com/just-one-bite-rat-bait-bar-1lb/?gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=22543228686&gclid=Cj0KCQjwss3DBhC3ARIsALdgYxO3kxcWj8OO1YERHcz-Xr-LkGTGdpnv1gB1o_y4ufltkZ4sMpRHlBMaAhxgEALw_wcB
  7. I only make baits for myself and fishing partners. I just counted and have 19 molds. I basically just use football, Troker swim jig, Midwest finesse and minnow head. Some of mine haven’t been used in years.
  8. I do everything that I can to keep smallies from jumping. They seem to be able to throw anything.
  9. I always buy my tires (truck, car, boat and utility trailer) from the same people who only deal in tires and wheels. When I go in for my free rotation, they air the tires up to the max pressure listed on the tire. I’ve never had a problem with that.
  10. When I call this is my last, if you are in the back you better get ready because when my line is in I am strapping the rods down, stowing the trolling motor and cranking up the outboard.
  11. You might contact Seibert outdoors or cadman. One of them might have something.
  12. Not knowing your boat it is hard to recommend a good way for you. Like T B said I have put a board under one side of my wife’s deck boat, jacked that side up, removed the skid and replaced it with a new one that I had prepped. Another way is measure, buy replacements, cover them how you choose, launch and tie the boat out of the way, go to the lot and replace. I would recommend replacing all of them at the same time. The easiest and most expensive way is to hire it done. I have done all three ways.
  13. I keep my line in the box that came with it. I don’t need to tape it.
  14. I think it would count as a half.
  15. If that ever happened to me there would be a scene at the weigh-in. Along with a call to the DNR.
  16. Our tournaments have to register and get a permit. The state has a site where you can pick a year, month, and lake. It shows launch site, date and time. I check that then plan as far away from them as I can get so they won’t be in my way. I’ve never been on a spot and had tournament anglers want it or cut me off. The lakes that I fish are between 26,000 acres with hundreds of miles of shoreline and 50,000 acres with close to 1000 miles of shoreline.
  17. I have at least 30 Shimano reels. Some are over 20 years old. A little bearing oil and gear grease when needed keeps them going just fine. They aren’t as smooth as the ones I bought a couple of weeks ago but they cast and wind the way they are supposed to. Maybe you should just use them. If you need a second opinion then send them to me and I will test them for you.
  18. I never take food with me. It’s 03:00 now. I’ll be leaving at 04:00 to go to Beaver Lake in NW AR smallmouth fishing. I will eat a big breakfast before I leave and take a cup of coffee with me for the hour and a half drive as well as a bottle of water. After all I am going fishing not to a picnic.
  19. I use auto pilot a lot. I think I have used about all of the features that my MK has. In some instances follow the contour is very useful.
  20. I drive an hour and a half each week to fish for smallmouth in NW AR.
  21. These work well for me. https://mudhole.com/products/fuji-ez-keeper-ii?_pos=4&_sid=8532ea26f&_ss=r
  22. Strong storms blew down limbs. I cleaned up my 90 year old neighbor’s yard. I have a trailer load of limbs to haul off tomorrow. Then watch the neighborhood kids shoot fireworks tomorrow night.
  23. I make my own out of lead alloys.
  24. I use the same rods for cranks that I do for shaky, 7’6”m square bills, RK and warts.
