  1. Sounds like a bunch of good ideas to me. I'd rather have the tmotor pull than push anytime.
  2. I use it anytime fish are working the surface.
  3. I recycle some of my old plastic. If it has salt then it is a pain. The colors always seem to get darker for me since I usually don't do all of one color at the same time. One thing you might do, when you have a torn bait you can press the sides of the tear together over a candle flame and do a pretty good job of mending it.
  4. I guess my strongest point would be understanding where the boat needs to be and being able to keep it in position so that my partner and I can have the opportunity to make the very best casts and get the baits presented as well as possible. I keep one eye on the depth finder and a foot on the trolling motor at all times.
  5. It all depends on what kind of water I'm fishing. Usually it is rocks and I like the jig best. We have a lot of man made brush piles in our lakes and nothing comes through a bunch of cedar trees like a trigged craw. You can crawl it over a limb and let it drop, then crawl it over another one till big mamma grabs hold. The jigs tend to do the grabbing in the brush.
  6. If you have sycamore trees, they will sink without blocks tied to them.
  7. That all depends on how much you want to spend.
  8. If you live near one you can take the old one in and they will replace it NQA. I loaned a guy one of my rpds that was 7 years old. He broke it for me. I told him to take the 2 pieces to BPS and buy me another one just like it. They gave that lucky dog one and didn't charge him anything. You can't beat that for customer service.
  9. You might look at the Shimano Symmetry for $40 less than the Stradic.
  10. 1. Lots of knots work just fine. I use the San Diego Jam because it is fast. 2. I use trailer hooks if I miss a fish or two. I seldom use trailers. 3. There is not a thing wrong with chartreuse I like white, silver or salt and pepper better. If I want to throw a wake I'll use a double Colorado blade setup. If I just want flash I use a Colorado and willow combo. Color is not that big of a deal. Wind and cover are much more important than color.
  11. There are a lot of different sealers out there. It would be beneficial to know the material in your cover because some sealers are material specific. I get mine from Aurora Canvass in Battlefield MO.
  12. Since Cabela's owns Gander Mt. probably the same folks that make Cabela rods.
  13. If you don't mind spending a couple of bucks on a phone call, you can try Bob or Nancy at the Bass Pro Shop Catalog outlet reel repair. I sometimes am amazed at the stuff they can dig up. The store number is 1-417-887-7334 ask the operator to transfer your call. Good luck.
  14. I like to keep my boat clean and ready at all times. I even carry a 12v vac in one of the boxes. I don't allow guys to take a leak on the gunwale. You get blood on my carpet, you get a towel to clean it off. I don't buy boats often and want mine to last.
  15. The way your gas engine is set has a lot to do with how your boat reacts. Your lower unit can act as a keel and cause the back to run one way or the other. If you have a motor guide and it is not running the way the arrow is pointing you probably have bent the little L shaped piece of metal inside the head cover.
  16. Ztackle had some last time I looked.
  17. I tried an experiment in clear water with 5 friends. We were all fishing basically the same baits. Another guy and I were using braid w/o any leader. The other guys were using leader or mono. The braid we were using was 8/1. The 2 of us got our butts waxed that day. Since them I have started using leader on all my braid 'cause I don't like that slikery feelin' on my butt.
  18. Since you have give not year for the boat I can't look it up. Check the NADA guides and see what they have to say. Remember that Johnny Morris who owns Tracker and lots of other boats now owns Fisher. He is notorious for putting cheap after market 1 time owner stuff on boats.
  19. We call that Yo Yo ing or BanJoing.
  20. Never never never put the wind at my back. You will put yourself down to the 10% ratio with the wind at your back. I believe in big tmotors just for this especially in the spring and fall. When the wind is too much for my tmotor, I to to the point, put it on high and let the wind "back troll me down the bank". I is usually slow and rough but it produces fish.
  21. The condition is sometimes called black spot disease. The black spots are caused by pigment that the fish deposits around the larval stage of a parasite. Their life cycle includes birds which pick them up while eating fish. While in the bird the parasite becomes a adult and lays eggs inside the birds intestines. The bird, via a bowel movement, deposits the eggs in the water. The eggs hatch and the new parasite takes on a snail as a host. Later it leaves the snail and takes on a fish. Their presence has not been proven to have much of an effect on the fish except in very small fish if there is not a massive amount of them. If you are eating the fish they won't hurt humans. Just cook the fish well done. I have been told that they are 100% protein.
  22. I thought I would use drop shot a lot in TX last winter so I bought a Bakudan mold. I made up a bunch and only lost like 5 all winter. Needless say I won't live long enough to use all of them up. If I decided to offer them for sale, what would they be worth?
  23. I haven't actually added a storage box but I did put in a flippin' deck which gave me quite a bit of storage underneath it. I was mainly interested in more deck space. The easiest way might be to contact Fisher and see if they have any compartments that you could buy and install.
  24. Glad to see the windshield pics. A friend of mine broke his and I told him about your project. Since I have a heat gun, he got interested real quick. BTW: You have done a great job on your boat. Congrats.
