  1. I am a Power Pro user. I started with it many years ago and have never seen a reason to switch. I use it in several sizes and only use white or yellow.
  2. I use braid with leader in clear water especially when finesse fishing. I had my butt beat too many times until I finally added the leader.
  3. This thread got me to thinking about my boat. It is 20’4” long. Add the jack plate and motor makes it 23’4”. Then the crank and trailer tongue another 3’. So it is 26’4” with the motor trimmed all the way down. I had my boat bay in the garage built 15x30. I have walking room in the back but the tongue has to be swung away so I can walk around the front.
  4. I spend very little on baits because I make most of mine. I only had one custom rod built. I’ve probably spent about $200 on hooks and other supplies. My big expense is boat and truck gasoline which is about $50 a trip and I go twice a week.
  5. 6 for me. Three Gloomis rods for 5/16, 3/8, 7/16 and 1/2 oz. And three custom rods for 1/8, 3/16 and 1/4 oz.
  6. I have 3 rods with them. I only have one con, my line threader does not work with them. Everything else is a pro.
  7. I typically go twice a week. My outboard is a 250 hp and uses quite a bit of gasoline. I fish lakes where I might travel as much as 30 miles in a day. I budget $500 for boat and truck gasoline and boat fuel additives. Some months it takes it and some months it doesn’t.
  8. Small square bills have worked well for us on some days in very shallow water.
  9. I started using it last winter. I was having trouble getting consistency in my knots. I decided to make a kit just for the fg. So I bought the knot tool and put the kit together. As I practiced tying it I was not keeping things in the proper sequence so I made a list of the exact steps needed to do an fg knot the right way. I’m not saying make a kit but you might benefit from creating a list of the proper steps so you can be sure to repeat them in order.
  10. Thanks for your concern. I wore glasses with progressive lenses for years to help with my astigmatism. In 2011 I had to have cataract surgery and opted to pay the additional cost for toric lenses. I haven’t worn prescription glasses since.
  11. I go to the eye Dr next Monday. I need bifocals for threading hook eyes, etc. I am wearing off the rack now. Do your polarized lenses work well on the water? Is it worth it to shell out the bucks for polarized glasses with progressive lenses. Thanks for sharing your experience.
  12. I remember you guys from that forum. I had the same handle on it.
  13. You had better watch out. If you get to catching them on a jig much of your other stuff is apt to get dusty and rusty. I always have at least 3 jigs tied on in 3 different sizes.
  14. That was all that I used at the time. Then there was no talk about line color because there was no internet where it could be discussed. However, I found out the hard way about mono vs fluoro.
  15. I use the shrink tubing from Harbor freight in the $1.00 pack. It just cleans everything up and makes no way especially for the wire to hang.
  16. No but I will take and post one.
  17. I assume that you are using the R wire type of spinner baits. I have had that same problem. I have come up with a solution that works for me. I wrap the bend with braided line or floral wire then cover it with heat shrink tubing. That keeps the bend in place and the wire doesn’t get deformed and break. It hasn’t had any effect on the way the bait runs.
  18. I have never had the fg fail. I do 15 wraps, one half hitch, serve the knot, 2 half hitches, cut the leader tag, 2 half hitches, rizzuto.
  19. When I target smallmouth I basically use three baits; a TRD Ned rigged, an Elaztech worm rigged shaky and a jig specifically a Jewell Pee Wee which I carry in 3 sizes.
  20. Age is the main factor for me with living rubber skirts. Mine are in 3700 boxes in the boat. If they get to be a couple of years old the strands can deform and even stick together but that doesn’t happen often. I have heard but not tried talcum powder to preserve them.
  21. No recommendation just a question, why 6# specifically? Thanks
  22. I fish Table Rock a lot and it is like two different worlds from one river (James) system to the other (White). They don’t stay on a pattern for more than a few days. Fishing from a kayak you will be limited in coverage. Pomme de Terre is a relatively small lake. If you haven’t already tried it you might want to.
  23. I guess I couldn’t come because I’d be bringing jigs. Specifically the Jewell Pee Wee in First Down or Bass Whacker and I would have to have some trailers.
