  1. Just be sure to look for heat shrink tubing. Shrink wrap is a whole different thing.
  2. I use heat shrink tubing for lots of things but haven’t tried it like that. It also works as a trailer hook keeper. I think you are on to something there.
  3. When we had a 5th wheeler and did a lot of traveling we were on several sites for that kind of recreation. One thing that they had in common was never go anywhere on 7 year old tires no matter how many miles were on them or how they looked.
  4. I really think that the area controls the depth. I see on here guys talking about 15-20’ depth. On our highland reservoirs I do from 30’ on out and have caught many over 60’ deep. Right now I know a couple of guys fishing 60-80’ deep for spots and walleye.
  5. I’m not an expert by any stretch of the imagination but it looks like it to me. We don’t normally see them in less than 30 fow.
  6. In a pinch away from home I have used carpet tacks.
  7. That’s a great story. The beginning of a jigger.😏
  8. My guess is the shape weight and material of the boat is the cause.
  9. You better check schematics to be sure what’s under that deck. I paid for one and they cut all of my boat wiring.
  10. You have good info here. One thing I would add is learn to run it with either foot so you won’t have to be a contortionist while fishing.
  11. I have never had braid digging in on any reel. I use 10# mono backing with tape over the splice knot. I don’t do any thing special when spooling it. My braid of choice is Power Pro which I use in several sizes.
  12. I haven’t seen many videos about that. Personally I haven’t found June bug to be a very good color. One of my fishing buddies uses it quite often but his success rate hasn’t made me put one on more than a couple of times.
  13. In today’s world a 17 boat is probably as small as most companies make. I assume you mean livescope in the bow. It’s a Transducer and can be mounted on a trolling motor. Mine is Humminbird Mega live and is connected via Ethernet and can be displayed on any of my units. You need a compatible sonar unit hooked up to it for a display. Look at some videos of them being installed. Every company’s version is a little different.
  14. The most productive area for us has been on a shallow flat just outside a very busy marina. Boats are coming and going all of the time and the fish are not deeper than 10’ sometimes as shallow as 5.
  15. We have no vegetation but we have suspended fish. Keitech fat impact swim baits in 2.8 and 3.8 are very effective. We fish them on 1/8, 1/4, and 3/8 Dirty jigs guppy heads.
  16. I think it depends on the body of water, time of day, and weather conditions. I mainly fish 3 highland reservoirs which are totally different. The fish on one of them are extremely hard to find in the summer so I basically avoid it. Another one is extremely clear and the morning bite goes away around 9 am. Meanwhile the lake that I am fishing now has a very good bite that lasts until I am too hot to stay. Those fish are from 4-10’ deep. We are catching 40-60 every trip.
  17. I just came into possession of one. The only markings on it are MHX on the grip. It feels like a medium to me. For those who have one how do you use it?
  18. So are you up to a hundred rods now?😂
  19. You can use anything. I’ve even used tape to build up the spool.
  20. You can check your software version on the unit and compare it to the latest software version on the Humminbird site. If you’ve only had it a month or so you probably have a defective card.
  21. You should watch Ned’s video. I use either a straight 6# line or braid with a fluorocarbon leader. I use TRDs with head weights from 1/16 to 1/4 oz.
  22. Have a look at the Jewel Pee Wee jig. We’ve caught 105 bass on it in the last two trips to Table Rock.
  23. You can get weedless Ned heads from a site sponsor, Seibert Outdoors. I would get the 1/16 oz for sure.
  24. 2500 with 7’ ml is what I use. My 7’ m with my 3000 is for heavier stuff.
