  1. After some beginning purchases, I've settled on Dobyns. All are from the Fury line, I'm afraid to try anything better. However the Monkey is pushing for me to try a Taipan.
  2. For me T-shirt, jeans, boots and shades. And lots of Zinc oxide and spray spf 30 for the top of my noggin, I look like Casper! Have to reapply often. I have an aversion to hats since my Army days. UV index is 11 here, So under consideration since Cancer sucks.
  3. 112, here. With another three months to go. Poor me, still fishing!
  4. None, tie to spool add tape. This completely stop braid slippage for me.
  5. I'll be here all week! It's one fish that tasks me, she hides under some pampas grass. I almost had her, but some bikini clad young ladies were jumping from a bridge near by and I was distracted and wiffed the hook set.
  6. I believe that the median of weight ratings is known as the sweet spot or where rods perform the best. Fr 733 weight rating 1/4-3/4oz, sweet spot should be around 1/2 oz. Fr 734 weight rating 1/4-1oz, sweet spot should be around 5/8 oz. 3/8 (approx weight of 5" stick worm)+3/16 = 0.5625 or 9/16, so I'm thinking FR733 considering that you will also use 1/8. It has been pointed out to me that Fury line fishes lighter than ratings. I have a ABU vengeance H/F and a Dobyns FR735 which is listed as Mag/H by comparison the Dobyns feels like a MH and the ABU a broom stick.
  7. 109 - 111 here almost daily, still fishing. Mostly in the evenings, when temps drop a little. It's a dry heat, LOL. Once the humidity comes, I don't know if I'll be able to keep it up though.
  8. People swim their dog where I'm fishing. Trash, especially line and hooks. Buggies kicking up dust clouds on levee road. People that have to listen to the fricken news when outdoors, Geez, Same for music. Annoying fish that will not bite my bait! People that want to talk, its like they don't see the rod in my hand.
  9. Where are they at Jedi, by God I'll wipe my skunk all over them!
  10. Down here in Yuma the fish are very catchable, but ya gotta put the work in. Early am they are cruising the shallows and are willing to eat just about anything but the moment that the sun hits the water they are not tight to cover, they are back up in it. I fish canals mainly, so parallel to bank casts are paramount. I cast parallel down stream and then allow the current to sweep my bait up under the cover lining the bank and then work bait back to me. This works great for wacky worms, ned, jigs. Up stream I cast as close to cover as I can and fish baits as close as I can, the current doesn't play along this way as well so several cast to cover the same distance are needed, I also must slow way down when fishing up stream as my bait is usually a foot or two outside of cover, the fish are often reluctant to come out and play so a little extra time and action are needed. If plastics are not working then I will present a jerkbait, crank or swimbait right along the edge of cover. I lose a lot of baits! Fishing the opposite bank is much more difficult, current pulls bait out of strike zone pretty quickly so a lot of accurate casts with heavily weighted T-rig, swimmbait or jigs. I really have to pick the far bank apart, I like to hit the far side at about two foot interval one way and then hit it again in the other direction. And then switch up baits and do it again. Bridges, tunnels, irrigation grates always hold fish, deep shade structure, current breaks. This is where I get a break and get my skip on, I can loosen up on casting accuracy. I get about 50-60% of my fish off of these features. Heavy jigs and swimbaits in the fast water and wacky/ned in the slack water. No fish then I get some A/C as I drive to the next opening and do it all again. Around dusk the bass come back out and unlike the morning they tend to stray further from cover and structure, topwater, wake baits, spinnerbaits are pretty effective as are jerkbaits. And that evening breeze, bliss! Secret weapon: live shad. If all else fails I'll take a drive and net some shad. I present shad weightless in the same ways as above. I feel ya on the heat and as we know here in AZ 106 is a cool day, Attitude and tenacity, sunscreen and WATER got to have all four or I'm in for a short trip.
  11. I know off a few B/B jigs laying on the side of a levee road. I really wanted to believe in a color other than Green-pumpkin and there may be one, but its not black and blue.
  12. I also recently bought a Daiwa Revos 2500 LT and paired it with a Dobyns FR 702sf. I was expecting the rod to be great and it is, but the reel wow. I had been avoiding spin gear because of some bad past experiences with spinning reels, the Revos feels great and has exceeded my expectations. I'm sure that there are some advantages to be had with more expensive reels but if I don't ever touch one I'll be happy with this one, hopefully for a good long time. The 150.00 saved over say a Stradic, feels good in my wallet.
  13. Where is the link to the remote? Anywhoo, this got me thinking. So a quick "Google" search turned up this, https://patents.google.com/patent/US7310905B2/en
  14. Thanks brother, added to favorites. A 10 One more cover,
  15. slonezp, Kravitz, is a hard act to follow. Soooo, I couldn't help myself,
  16. Better known as a ski-boat.
  17. I don't get to worked up about snakes either, but I do fish with my dog. So do I carry in case. My biggest problem is keeping dog away from brush and rock where snakes be hidden when its so hot out, 108 today!
  18. Any fish brings a smile to my face, a nice fish is any fish approaching my PB, a whopping 4 to 5lbs.
  19. The only good carp is a dead carp,
  20. Thanks for this, Taylormade113! I'm continuously snagged with the standard head, My problem is rocks. I was going to try Power Finesse ShroomZ Weedless, I wonder if these would be a better option?
  21. In trying to get my first jig fish, I've been throwing black and blue, Nada. Changed to green pumpkin and I d**n near got one(trailer came back without a claw). I know that there are a lot of variables but I can only go by what is "working". In this case Green pumpkin worked where black and blue failed for over a month, I know what I'm buying in the future. The pattern I'm seeing is that matching the color of the forge in the water I fish is the ticket, that and matching the colors of the bottom, rocks, plant materials. It all looks like green pumpkin to me. There is nothing in this water that I have seen that is Black and blue, Chartreuse or red and I have yet to catch a fish on either of those colors. Apparently contrasting colors just don't work where I am. I thought it odd that green pumpkin would work so well when I can barely identify my bait when in the water, the fish don't seem to have this problem though. I had thought that I had my jerkbait colors figured out, perch and sexy shad have produced for me. Grabbed a Strike King KVD Jerkbait in Pro-Gold thinking it would mimic a juvenile Carp and they hit it also. Once again something I see in the water that I fish.
