  1. Although I do use a ML for DS and Neds, I actually don't use this specific rod for either DS or Ned, but it would be fine for both/either. You could use it for many applications and I wouldn't limit it to just one unless you have many other rods to other stuff and want to have it be for this specifically. I mostly use it for small Keitechs. I actually use it for some crappie fishing applications as well in the early spring. I am running 10lb yellow power pro and may use a fluro leader in 6lb or 8lb.
  2. 6'10" ML. I used one all last year and liked it.
  3. It's already being sold and it is $420.
  4. I like the 1000 size, but most would go with the 2500 or 3000. If I were to buy a new rod for those application today, I would get a G Loomis NRX 901S
  5. Same for me. Am I missing what the significant change was that increased the price by $200? Are the line guides that big of a deal? Still says SCV and using pretty much the same grip and reel seat. Looks like I will stick with the plan to get another NRX this spring. Even my Loomis Conquests I purchased new for less then $600.
  6. 1) I use a 7'6" St Croix Legend Tournament MLXF with a 1000 Stradic Ci4+ 2) 10lb Power Pro in yellow with a 6lb Fluoro leader. I like the braid doesn't stretch, is easy to see and doesn't have much line memory. If I get stuck, I can break off at the union knot and I didn't loose out X number of feet of mainline. 3) IDK, I don't fish for trout but probably. The tip on my rod really dances when there is even a very minor input from the fish. I find it really lets me know if something is going on. I don't have the same rod in fast to compare it to though.
  7. This is also what I would use.
  8. I use hi-viz on everything except my frog rod. Yellow is my preference.
  9. If cost isn't a big factor I would probably go with a 24v system and more thrust. More power is nice to have even if you don't use it all the time. I would love a 24v 80lb Ultrex with spot lock, auto pilot and i-pilot, but it was hard to justify putting a $2,500 TM on a Jon Boat with all of the other stuff I had in the works. I still might upgrade in the next couple years... If I were going electric only I would for sure do the Ultrex. I like fishing from the front of the boat and driving from there would be fine to me. Maybe there is something like that in a transom mount model, IDK.
  10. I have a Lowe 1546 with a 25hp and use a 55lb Minnkota Maxxium at the front for a trolling motor. It moves the boat around very well. I normally use it at half power, but when at full power it is pretty darn quick all things considered. If I were to pull the outboard, fuel and one battery to cut weight I personally would be fine with only having a 55lb TM on a 200ish acre lake for a day of fishing.
  11. They were featured on a very popular YouTube channel recently and that has probably increased their sales quite a bit and put them out of stock. With Tackle Warehouse, if you backorder them they will ship when they get more as your place in line is reached. If you don't backorder, and wait for them to be in stock, you might be waiting for a long time since other people will keep backordering more and more and more until the manufacture is able to catch up if they can.
  12. If you were only looking a Expride spinning rods, I would go with the ML for Ned and drop shot. The L+ is too light for what I normally use for Ned and Drop shot. Weightless senkos are actually pretty heavy even without a weight. I personally use a MH casting rod for those, but I am sure others have other setups. I wouldn't try 3/4oz on anything less then a MH Expride. I cant help with balance of a 3000 sized reel, I only have 1000s on my Exprides.
  13. Yes it does, it will spin as you are spooling up the reel. It has seemed to help in my experience. Then when you spool a baitcaster you are able to screw lock the spinning part down so it doesn't spin. Another feature is that you can set how much tension the line has while you are putting it on the reel. All in all, I really like the thing. I let me two buddies use it last year and after they both purchased them too. I have wasted $20 on many other odd things in the past, but I feel like this was money well spent even though it looks like a gimmicky thing.
  14. I have something like this and I really like it. Worth the $20 in my opinion. https://www.ebay.com/itm/US-STOCK-Portable-Fishing-Reel-Line-Spooler-Winder-Line-Winding-System-Machine/312939955516?hash=item48dcacc53c:g:vtsAAOSwfsReGYST Cabelas and Amazon sell something like them for $45ish, but I see no difference from those and the $20 ones.
  15. Is it OM sinkers by chance? Nothing came up for OE.
  16. I use braid, 30lb Sufix hi-viz yellow, on a 8:1 reel. I have been good bout training myself with topwater stuff to literally count off "one-one-thousand" before giving a hookset and it has been working great. It isn't very often I miss, unless I am not paying attention and I jerk the hookset to quickly because I didn't count down. That will normally be when I am getting ready to switch rods, move the boat, see how my co-angler is doing or other stuff like that.
  17. I have a couple Exprides and a Legend Tournament Walleye rod that I use for bass. My two I could compare would be the Expride 6'10" MLF and the St Croix 7'6" MLXF. Each has a Ci4+ Stradic on them. I don't really use them for the same thing, but I like them both. I use the St Croix mostly as a Ned Rig rod and I really love it for that application. Expride I have used mostly for small swinbaits, underspins and shakeyheads. I like the Expride reel seat better, but only by a minor amount as I also like the St Croix reel seat as well. One thing I absolutely hate about the Exprides (and Zodias) are that they don't have a hook keeper on them. The add on ones are just not the best. Other then that, to be totally honest, I would take either and feel like they are very close to each other. Exprides can be hard to find or find in stock whereas lots of places carry and stock St Croix. Exprides can be found "on sale" at places and generally St Croix will not be on sale. If they were both in front of me I would probably go with the St Croix. I also think that if you were to ask me again tomorrow/next week/next month, I might choose the Expride.... probably not helpful, sorry. I guess I just feel I would be happy with either.
  18. Shipping cost isn't always based on the weight, but also the size of the item. I have generally had the best cost shipping with USPS, but I would always get prices from UPS and FedEx as well. Sometimes they will be less. BTW, don't go to a UPS Store or a FedEx store and pay them to ship an item, they always charge you a premium. Just sign up for your own account, print the label yourself and then bring it to FedEx or UPS store.
  19. I have a couple of the NOCO G3500s and they have been working well for years on various things. I used one for each of my two boat batteries last year before I purchase an onboard charger. They would charge my batteries in several hours. They are only 3.5 amps. I wouldn't often get my batteries below 50% before charging, but I would think even if they were then overnight charging would still be fine.
  20. Do you not like the rod you currently use?
  21. Happen to know of another place? I need the 8.5 RH and they are sold out. :-(
  22. Anybody have a source on getting brass gears for the 16 model? I have not had any issues, but wouldn't mind grabbing a couple sets.
  23. I agree with looking at the St Croix Mojo Bass line of rods. I have not used their spinning models, but have a few of the casting models. I tend to like a little longer rod so I would go with the 7'6" ML/XF. I have that in the Legend Tournament series and use it for many finesse techniques.
  24. I haven't gone for a few years, but did always go in the spring as a group of four of us and we would travel down to Illinois. I cant get the mouth call down, so I would normally use box calls and slates. Box calls were my go-to in most cases. I had a couple I could really get loud with and also calm it down some when the birds were in close. If I could get the mouth call to work, I would have used those for up close. I didn't have as good of luck with using a blind, all of my birds came when just leaning up on a tree. I always made sure to have my shotgun butt in my shoulder and the barrel on my knee to minimize moment. There are some nice "V" shaped pads that can be strapped around your leg to help hold the gun on your knee. Only firearm we could use would be a shotgun. My personal favorite was the Benelli Super Nova with some 3.5 inch Hevi-Shot and a rubber shoulder sling.
