  1. Depends on what features you are looking for in a "Tactical" flashlight, but more often then not I like the general purpose lights from most manufactures then their tactical variant. Cost less too. I am a big Streamlight fan and have dozens of their products. Had Surefires in the past, but I find they cost more then a similar Streamlight. I still have two Surefire weapon lights though. My EDC light is the USB chargeable version of the Streamlight MicroStream. I have two or three of them now. I have have at least a dozen of the normal AAA MicroStream, they are $15-$20. You can use normal AAA batteries in them or rechargeables. The best Tactical Streamlight I have is the ProTac 1L-1AA. It can use a CR123A battery or a AA battery. I have also used a AAA battery in it in a pinch. I like the versatility of using more then one battery type. I just find it too big to pocket carry vs other options above. I keep it in a bag in my truck instead as well as the Streamlight ProTac 2L-X USB and a Streamlight Bandit. Fenix also makes some good lights.
  2. I have that rod, two actually. I wouldn't try to use it for jigs. It was intended to be a crankbait rod and it works well for that. If you don't want another crankbait rod, I personally would not get the rod.
  3. It doesn't in general feel heavy to me and with the Bantum it balances well to me. I like the way it feels and expect it to perform well, but that is just from my standing in my garage. I will start out using it for just about anything from heavy bladed jigs, glide baits, spinnerbaits, swim jigs, t-rigs and probably frogs too. Longer term I assume it will be more of a bottom contact jig or plastics rod.
  4. When they first released the new price on these I was pretty turned off by them seeing how they were about $200 more then the product they were replacing. After watching the TBassin' review I changed my mind some and if I could get a deal on one I would get one, but St Croix going on sale is pretty rare. Well, I ended up getting a couple at a discount so I will give them a go this year. Bass isn't open here where I fish so I have't used them yet. I do like the fit, finish and feel of the rods and they are like my Loomis Conquest rods in that regard which are in the similar price point. I have one 7'4" HF and one 7'1" MHXF both are paired with Bantums for now. They come with their own rod sock which is nice at something of this price range.
  5. I have a NRX 822S and a Conquest 902S. I like the reel seat on the Conquest more then the NRX. The Conquest also feels like a more substantial rod vs. the NRX. I always feel like I need to be more careful when handling NRX rods then Conquest rods. Even more so in the casting rods in what I feel like I am asking them to do. I don't think you could go wrong with either really. Going NRX could save you a decent amount of money, about $140 looking at the TW prices. A Conquest with a Stella is pretty nice though.
  6. I have not gotten free fishing products, just a sticker if you add it to the order or a shirt if you are over a specific $ amount and add it to the order. Main reason I shop with them is because they have had good prices, carry/stock things others don't and normally ship quick for cheap (2-day $5). I did notice their prices on Loomis rods is now more then other places so I have been looking at other places for those specifically.
  7. Nice! I also ordered a Stella for my 902S Conquest ?
  8. When I was younger Shimano was the bee's knees, but out of my price range for baitcasters. Daiwa wasn't really available around town so not many talked about it. This was before internet ordering. I got out of fishing for many years and just got back into it around the summer of 2018. I am fortunate enough now to purchase some nicer equipment then what I had back in the day. So, the first thing I did was go out and get some Shimano products. First reel I purchased was a Curado DC. I then purchase two more of those the next week. Then were the Curado K and the Curado 70. Then after reading so much about how nice the Daiwa Tatula SVs were, I got two of those. They looked and felt nice. Got out to use them on the water, and they just aren't my thing. I dislike them. They don't cast the same as what I was use to nor like the new Shimano reels I had just gotten. I feel like I am the only person on this site that doesn't like them. I used them on two outings and have not used them since. They are not garbage, but they are just not my thing. Clearly Daiwa makes quality equipment, not saying they don't, but they might not be for everybody is all I am getting at. Same can be said for Shimano. I would recommend getting a couple demo samples from TW before pulling the trigger on one brand or the other. https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/demoprogram.html
  9. Joe's is local to me and I go there several times a year. I vouch for them as a company. They have been shipping orders within a few days.
  10. The Daiwa Arid-X 7' ML is what I would get, $40. If you want to get a matching brand of reel, the Daiwa Revros is a good one, $50.
  11. I like the Brabec Double Buzz in white with a white Hog Farmer Spunk Shad for a trailer. TW doesn't carry the double buzz anymore so I don't know if he stopped making baits or what, but you might be able to get them direct from Facebook.
  12. My first Conquest was more then 35% off MSRP. It was brand new from a authorized dealer. Finding a deal like that was due to an end of season sale at a small shop that needs to clear floor space for winter stuff. They do it every year but it is limited to what they have on hand. They also sell ”demo” rods and they normally are 50% off MSRP. That's normally the end of summer after reps should them off for the season. Finding something for more then 20% off in spring seems like hunting for a unicorn that lays golden eggs. To each their own, but 20% off is still an OK price to me. I have the Conquest 902S and like it quite a bit. I don't like where the hook keeper is as I normal point my finger towards the rod tip and tend to jam my finger tip into the keeper when I set the hook. Kinda of and oddly specific complaint though so probably not a problem for most.
  13. Looks like it is just freely sliding with the tires not moving which makes me think: ICE. Might have been cold enough that there was thin layer of ice on the ramp from other boats going in/out. Being in park, having the parking break on or being in 4WD wouldn't do much in an ice situation. I am always really careful late season here in MN at the launch just the that reason. If you don't walk the ramp before backing down it, you might never even know. Doesn't take much water to freeze to cause some serious issues.
  14. Doesn't work when you want a long leader.
  15. Anybody have any issues with the FG on a spinning reel/rod? If my leader is long and the Albertto gets to the spool, it seems to catch.
  16. What I do: Get upset and probably swear. Then wrap the line around my fingers and pull really hard resulting in a deep cut. Then swear some more and think "You idiot! You knew that would happen again!" What I should do: Wrap the line around my pliers, pull and hope it comes out or breaks at the knot. If I cant pull hard enough by hand then I pull with the trolling motor. If that doesn't work then I get as close as I can and cut the line. Most the time the line breaks at or near the lure. I should try the cleat option.
  17. I purchased a half dozen of the clam packed Saharas last year. All of them were fine and seem no different then the other boxed ones I also purchased.
  18. I think he means Sportsmans Outfitters. Code is On their front page banner.
  19. I have about a dozen of them, mostly in the 1000 size. I really like them and recommend them pretty much all the time. I tend to find them on sale around $60-$65 a few times over the summer.
  20. Thanks everybody! I have been very happy with my racing rig. I wish I used it more then I do! It is actually a emergence kill switch for the steering wheel motor. It uses and industrial servo for the wheel which can output some pretty high forces. I had it go haywire once and was very happy to have the kill switch.
  21. Formula 1 is going to the doing a Virtual Race series now as well since they are canceling their races. They are using the F1 game by Codemasters which is pretty much just that, a game unfortunately. Something like iRacing is more realistic. I was big into iRacing for quite a while, but then found other things to fill my time. I thought I would go back to it in the winter times, but that wasn't the case. Here is my setup:
  22. I have it on a few reels in yellow, spinning (10lb) and casting (30lb). I have used it with and without a leader and have many catches both ways.
  23. I use a 7'6" and like that length the best. It is a MLXF.
  24. I have been using this: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B00QQUEIE2/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I got mine for $75. Holds four 3600s and you can fit two 3500s in the bottom side pockets. I put plastics in the large top part or even some on the sides of the 3600 boxes. It will still stand up by itself even with all the hard boxes removed. Two buddys have since purchased these since fishing with me and seeing mine. I have a few other bags of the same brand and they have all been high quality and well though out in my opinion.
  25. I have used both the Bass X and the Mojo Bass and both are fine in my opinion. I would get the Mojo between the two because of the higher grade of graphite and the fit and finish are improved.
