Now they're saying 31 dead. So many lives lost and so many more forever changed! From someone who has lost a child, I pray the families and friends can find peace and are able to learn how to live again somewhere down the road. We all at sometime complain about the "little" stuff. Definately puts LIFE in perspective. Appreciate everyone you love, you never know when you won't have the opportunity to tell them face to face.
  2. Hang in there (or on) guys. It's finally cleared up in western KY. Sunny and 66. I'll try sending some your way! Wind is calming down too! Get the boat ready Think'n maybe we were gonna have to start building an ARK!
  3. Here's some of our zoo. Chewy the semi driving Whippet we rescued from the pound and King Gizmo!
  4. You lucky dog! No cast. If you feel left out, just get a large piece of PVC pipe and slide it up your arm. Add duct tape on each end. Ok, maybe that would be a bit extreme. You know, most nurses went to school to learn how to torture patients don't you. Just kidding but it is a cool benefit. Never, never tick off a nurse!! Let me know how you're doing. Remember to ask if you have questions! deb
  5. Forgive wpd, he's weird, never has liked tomatoes but loves spagetti with sauce. It has LOTS of tomatoes, just can't see them. Now, forgive me, what is chorizo? deb

Hey, mferris, how's the wait for the surgery? haven't cancelled it have you?
  7. Now that BG has accepted the coaching job at Ky, does that make him a BLUE GILL? : :
  8. Sounds like you have your priorities straight. Enjoy the fishing, you've earned it!
  9. Thought we'd found it here in KY. It was 83 Tues but with a forecast of 22 Sunday nite, I think I must have been having a really good dream! Think I'll try to go back to sleep...
  10. Sat March 31st. Our first ladies club tourney of the year. Due to the large #'s of crappie fisherman we were launching at the private ramp in my subdivision. I'd been catching nice bass all week. I knew where they were and what they wanted. Fishing in my front yard. Get ready Risa (the lady fishing with me). It was gonna be a good day! Boats had been zipping since 5am. Most were chasing the crappie. We headed to the north side of Blood River, to the backs of bays. As soon as I dropped the trolling motor I knew the day wasn't gonna be like I'd dreamed. It wouldn't turn. We decided to head to a close resort to tie up and try to check it out due to the wind. Not that I had a clue what I was doing...turn this, screw that. No luck. On signal on the cell. We had no choice but to head in. Bummer. We located another boat and watched Bur land a nice 4#er. Double bummer. We let them know we were going in. After loading the boat, closer inspection found a broken linkage cable or whatever it's called. No shops were open. We decided to make the best of it. We got some minnows and fished from the bank. It's great living within site of the lake. Bur won, a 2-11,2-9 and the biggest was a 4-7. Shucks! After a quick 5 hr trip to Nashville, I'm back ready for the chase. The day wasn't a total loss, we caught some crappie and I finally bought that Tmotor I've been needing. Look out next time Ladies!!

Chances are it will return. May not be for a while but could be tomorrow. If it does, put one of the braces on and wear it EVERY day. You can sleep without it but it helped the pain in mine even while sleeping.

Ok, I hope you moved more snow than I caught fish! Never even got to make my first cast. T motor linkage cable broke. I'll post the pics later and full story. We ended up crappie fishing from the bank. All in all, not a bad day. We were on the water and still got to fish a little, very little. Don't cancel that surgery! Is it the first surgery you've had?
  13. That's one of the reasons it's called fishing not catching! Keeps you coming back for more!
  14. What a beautiful catch! I would still be shaking. Congrats!!!

Fear of the unknown us USUALLY worse than the actuallity of the real thing. Try to be positive, if they fix it now, before more serious damage is done, you should have many, many years of painfree fishing! Along with making everyday life better. I'll keep you in my prayers. No, I'm not a fanatic but I do believe in God and I also believe with all my heart that everything happens for a reason. Thanks for mentioning my daughter. That said, unfortunately, Nik lost her battle with a rare kidney disease in Nov of 2005. She was 17 and my baby and only daughter. She was ready. She had to be hooked to a dialysis machine 14-16 hrs a day, was on 53 pills a day and in terrible pain the last few months. We spent 206 days in Vanderbilt Children's Hospital in 2005 before she died. Believe me, there are many things worse than death. I try to look at it like this, we knew her days were few, she had been sick since she was 11. We made every second count. I didn't take her for granted. I did my boys when they were growing up. Not any more. I knew every day was a gift and I had to appreciate it. Kids die all the time. I was just fortunate enough to realize it and life our lives with no regrets! My ex couldn't handle having a sick child and missed out on some very precious times. After being married 22yrs, he left. Nik and I could concentrate on her. She knew she was fighting a huge battle and she did it with grace and dignity! Ok, enough!!!!!!! Take wonderful care of yourself! Me, i'm going fishing! I'll try to catch one for you!
  18. It's good to see that not all men are intimidated by a female that not only likes to fish but is thrilled with the catching part. Believe me, females can still be female and enjoy this wonderful, expensive habit (I mean hobby). Look out 8 lb'er, I'm coming after you! I'll be on the water by 6 in the morning.

Yep, they had to cut the tendon, do all that cleaning and fun stuff. John (my dr) said it was much more of a mess than he imagined. I did get to go to a removable cast after 6 wks. I could take it off to shower and do physical therapy. I also had to stay in the cast because my daughter was in a hospital two hours away for 3 months. I didn't leave her side so my first follow-up were done by phone. Thank goodness I'm a nurse and had worked some for my dr so he trusted me. He also knew I'd do too much if the cast came off. Hooking up dialysis was fun with a cast but at least I didn't reinjure it. I need to tell you, I'm completely pain free with no reduction in motion. I can cast all day with no pain, at least not in my elbow! Be sure and follow your dr's instructions. Do NOT use that arm until they tell you to! It is amazing how little can really screw the surgery up. Just take it easy with it. When I came out of the anesthesia, I could tell the pain was so much better already. I had two incisions, one on the under side about an inch long, the other on top was about 4-5 inches long, battle wounds. Adds character, right?
  20. Thanks guys for all the compliments on my fish! I had such a blast catching them. Hope the bass cooperate tomorrow, I've got a small ladies tourney. Wish me luck!

Yes, I had "fisherman's or woman's) elbow. Ended up tearing a tendon from bass fishing. I put off the surgery for two yrs. My daughter was seriously ill and I was doing dialysis on her. Plus I thought surgery would intefere with what little time I had to fish. The surgery was a complete success! I did end up in a cast for almost 10 weeks but it was well worth it. I had the surgery in Dec and was able to fish in the spring. You can also buy an adjustable band that you wear just below the elbow. It helps but won't completely take the pain away. It did let me postpone the surgery. I advise you to check it out, find a real good ortho. PS. Besides being an avid fisherman, I'm a nurse and nurses hate to be the patient! Let me know if I can answer more questions, Deb.
  22. Hey riskkid, believe me, he still bleedsBlue! He will always know where HOME is! Where abouts on Barkley are you building? I live on Blood River, on KY lake. When you know the hots spots on Barkley let me know. ;)The only fishing i've done there is commercial with my Dad. Caught lots of catfish up around Eddyville but I was raised (at least till we were run out) of LBL down close to the TN line. Hoping the weather will let me out tomorrow. I'll be on my own though, my sister in law has to work. Can't let a good day slip by!
  23. Tactics; relax and have a blast, and it doesn't hurt if you get lucky. I mainly carolina rig fish due to back surgery a few years ago. All of the bass I've caught this year have come that way. All but one were caught off 6in Zoom watermelon seed lizards. The other was a pumpkin/fire lizard. All were fished slowly, very slowly. I wish I were out there fishing today but storms have kept me in. That and i'm too burned from 4 days in a row on the lake.
  24. Nice fish but it doesn't look nearly as big as the one I caught Sat. I'd guess 4 1/2-5. Mine weighed in at 5lb 9oz. Check her out. Congrats, believe me, i could be very wrong about the weight of your catch. I'm sure I'm partial to mine.
  25. Of course it's my boat! Bought it new in '96 and been catching fish out of her ever since. She's a little worn but still my favorite fishing partner. Sadly, no I can't marry you. I don't think your wife would like it. I do love fishing. Been fishing the local ladies club for many years. I have to admit, this week has been rather awesome. I usually bass fish but my sister-in-law loves to crappie fish. That is what we have basically done the last two days. It never ceases to amaze me the looks we get...Two females on the lake alone. Yes, I can back the boat in and also drive it on the trailer. I've seen more than one boat load of men screw up watching us. I'm sure they wonder if we are nuts and I can assure them that we are . We just happen to be females that enjoy fishing! It makes is so much easier to depend on me than to have to wait on a man to help. Anyway, I love Ky Lake and that fact that every morning when I get up I'm looking at it! Heaven right here on earth! Who needs vacations, I've got it year round. Wanna catch Ky lake bass? Let me know.
