  1. The 705cb will do both cranks and bladed jigs extremely well with the caveat (for me) of using braided line, mono was just too spongy and dead for me with this particular rod.
  2. I throw keitechs a lot. I catch everything from dinks to donks on the 4.8, in fact my best fish last year (5.25 lbs) came on a 4.8, with many others between 3-5 lbs, also my pb northern came on the same lure several years ago. Going to the 5.8 ups the average size of fish caught but as you would expect the catch rate falls, I throw this size the most. Five or more bites on the 5.8 is a good day to me, with the 6.8 multiple bites is a good day, with the 7.8 any bite is a good day lol I don't throw this size a lot. I see we fish the same area, I bounce around lake county. Which sizes and rigging did you have luck with?
  3. I have no qualms recommending the 7'3" mh poison adrena, it did double duty for me last year throwing mostly jigs and worms rigged various ways from neko and slider to weightless and jig worm style up to 3/8 oz., very versatile and light, not quite nrx level sensitivity but close and with your remaining budget you can buy enough plastics to choke a whale : )
  4. I made this chart a while back converting the most commonly used weights from ounces to grams... 1 oz 28.35 gm 3/4oz 21.25gm 1/2oz 14.17gm 3/8oz 10.62gm 1/4oz 7.08gm 1/5oz 5.67gm 3/16oz 5.31gm 1/6oz 4.72gm 1/7 oz 4.05gm 1/8oz 3.54gm 1/9oz 3.15gm 1/10oz 2.83gm 3/32oz 2.65gm 1/15oz 1.89gm 1/16oz 1.77gm 1/20oz 1.42gm 1/32oz .886gm
  5. For the swimfish I’d nip off the head (1/2”?) enough to fit flush a swimbait jighead (exposed hook) for straight swimming. I use owner and kalin’s saltwater jigheads for this application, there are tons of other swimbait jigheads nowadays available on tackle warehouse that would work too. Full disclosure I haven’t used the swimfish specifically but I have used many different sizes of their shakers (thinner body, same tail) over the years as swimjig trailers and just rigged plain on jigheads. Great tactic for pike too. edit: you’re probably going to want at a minimum of 4/0 but preferably 5 or 6/0 hook on your jig head
  6. I use a variety of (mostly) straight tail worms rigged on home-made tokyo/jika rigs 50%+ of the time, otherwise the same worms split time between flipshot or mojo rigs.
  7. Love your dedication and discipline! I started strength based training about 4 years ago at 47, I've since left my gym and went back to functional / movement / bodyweight based training from my kickboxing, boxing & martial arts days. My current garage "gym" consists of a jump rope, a high bar, and a set of gymnastic rings, that's it. You don't need a room full of machines to get started folks, no excuses and it's never too late!
  8. Outkast 3/8oz pro swim jigs paired to strike king 3.8 rage swimmer. This was just money for me this year, shooed away many a skunk.
  9. What I described turns off location services for only the camera not the whole phone, camera still works fine without it on.
  10. Fyi you can disable geotagging in photos on iPhone completely, go into settings->privacy->location services->camera... then select “never“
  11. Yes, but the accuracy will only be approximate with it off and not enough to locate a piece of fishing cover for example, with it on the accuracy is about 3 meters.
  12. Location is recorded even if it's not a live photo. I never ever have my location services on unless I'm using an app that needs gps location like maps. To much battery drain, too little privacy.
  13. How much bigger does it feel in hand compared a 100 or 200 size?
  14. Well that explains why I start catching fish every time metallica comes on
  15. Lucky crafts and kvd’s. If they’re running to one side tuning them is simple. I ditched tying direct and split rings long ago and use tactical angler clips and can’t even remember the last time I had one not run true. Tying direct can pull them off center. I believe the single wire of the clip in contact with the eye versus the two wires of split rings helps it track truer, it’s just my experience not saying its a fact.
  16. I seen satriani, johnson and vai on the first g3 tour in chicago in 96, what a show. He’s still got it!
  17. The squarebill was designed from day one back around ‘75 to be a high speed lure. Reel speed is personal preference, I prefer a 28ipt reel for cranking, currently using a curado 71hg.
  18. He’s no doubt referring to Tom Monsoor from Wisconsin.
  19. In honor of eddie, rest in peace
  20. The fury is an amazing value and very well balanced, it does have cheap guides and reel seat though I’ve yet to have an issue with them going on a full year of use. I didn’t like the rod with mono/copoly but when I put braid on it turned into a whole different beast with just the right power/flex ratio for spinnerbaits, chatterbaits and swim jigs too (light to med hooks), while still great for squarebills and jerks.

  22. That’s the whole point ?
  23. ^7 Good to see some fellow metal heads here. For anyone who hasn’t listened to anthrax’s recent efforts I’d highly recommend doing so, their last two albums imo are their best work by a good margin and their old stuff wasn’t too bad.
  24. I did my duty and watched the entire video. I’m going to refrain from scoring it so as to not offend anyone ?
