"False Fall" and the Fall transition
John Denver - some days are diamonds and somedays are stone. Jerkbaits have been my go to after early morning ploppers but nothing to write home about.

Spinnerbaits saved my vaca twice, Should be must have lures in the boat or bag
Spinnerbaits are in the hall of fame......probably 75% of my biggest fish over many years on them.

new car/ good tech/ not sure?
I just bought a brand new Ford Tremor and the salesman said he's never had a customer strip a truck down to this extent. I guess because of age and inability to except change maybe. Said no to heated seats, no to heated mirrors, no to backup cameras, no to sun roof, no to every additional option, give me simplicity with big knobs. Lol Just needed a tow vehicle that sits up. Hope you enjoy the Edge, nice vehicle.

Hunting or Fishing?
We've had a deer camp for 50 years, of course many elders have passed but it's still going. It's simply the best 2 weeks of the year period. I spend more time fishing because the season is so much longer. The success rate for fishing is much greater than deer hunting, no doubt but I'd have to choose hunting over fishing because of so many great memories.

Has the bite turned off dramatically for anyone else in the last 2 days?
Fished a 38,000 acre lake all week and the bite was on the first couple of days. On Thursday we had several inches of cool rain.....Friday and Saturday the bite was non existent. Arrived home on Sunday and went to the backyard pond where I've been pellet feeding the various fish stocked. They were all huddled in the deepest section and were lethargic. The water temp dropped 10* after the heavy rain so this is telling. Fish become less active with sudden drops in water temps. Also believe they will acclimate and the bite will spike before the winter slowdown.

Take me through your lure progression
I always target bigger fish but agree......if you can't get bit on an inline spinner, go home.

Whats The Favored Caliber/Cartridge For Deer?
I've also been deer hunting since the 60's and this conversation comes up every year at deer camp. I also agree that the two choices you listed are ideal calibers. I personally use Tikka 308 with 150 gr rounds but in the heavily forested mountains that I hunt, rarely does a 100 yard shot present itself.

Has anyone ever...
No Chris, would never stoop to that level and degrade the integrity of family tree. Treble or 5.0 hook ? before I can accurately answer.

Sally chases me off the water.
Been having a great week camping and fishing on Philpott lake but unfortunately Sally says " give the fish a break ". 2 - 4" of rain and 20 mph winds expected. With 3 days remaining, this could be my last fish.....life is good.

Kayak vs Jon boat
Reasons I wear waders. 1- they are insulated and warm. 2 - they keep my feet dry as I'm always stepping in water apon entry and exiting boat. Forgot to mention, always carry a paddle.

Kayak vs Jon boat
I fish from my kayak year around with of course a trolling motor. Always wear waders and always have my PFD on. This particular boat has central located motor pod and fishes very well " Jonny boat bass 100 "

Now that's quite the adventure, enjoy.

Late summer/early fall River Smallies
Our river has a fair amount of current so I choose baits that can cover some water. White spinnerbait has always been very productive as is Zoom flukes. If I can spend time in a good hole then creature bait in watermelon red and Zoom lizard in cotton candy chartreuse. Inline spinners for non stop action.

What is your favorite bait/worm
Have several go to baits but overall favorite would be Jerkbait in pearl. Caught this yesterday morning on suspending Jerkbait in gin clear water.

Can't understand why people insist on running bad motor
I believe your theory to be correct. Talked to several people out on the water that hasn't had their boat on the water for years but under the circumstances thought why not, everyone else is doing it. Lol

How do you manage your dropshot weight?
I've been dropping the weight through 1 of the eyes that fit the tightest and reel up just enough slack. I do however like the hair tie idea.

The Road To The Super Bowl 2021
Jerry Jones has been very productive at fighting success. Lol

The Road To The Super Bowl 2021
No mention of the Bucs as a contender ? I clearly see Ravens and Chiefs in AFC and how would a Brady vs Brees in an NFC showdown sound ? Not far fetched imo.

New to Kayak Angling
If you were from VA, you could take one of mine out for the day. I often sit sideways with feet dangling in the water while fishing as various positions help with fatigue. Only reason I have 2 yaks to begin with is the wife often wants to go with me on pretty days so got one with a center motor pod and drag her kayak " lifetime " behind while I'm fishing, she's reading, fun actually. As you get older you'll appreciate the high seats in some of today's designated fishing kayaks. Enjoy your adventure and keep it safe.
