  1. Schumacher is inexpensive and all you need.....charger and tender.
  2. Very good ?
  3. Lol, I've used PowerPro since it's introduction and never gone above 20#, no issues on casting or spinning. OP, maybe you need a little more break applied to keep line taut, not sure. Is your line connected to spool through hole ? Any backing ?
  4. You reckon it becomes toilet paper? Couldn't help it. I burn the tubes in the outside wood boiler.
  5. 43 yrs you say, quite an accomplishment. Ironically , today is my anniversary " 35th " and 1st time she didn't get flowers. Ya'll keep enjoying the rain, like it to.
  6. I like the diversity of 2nd lake. Water temps in the 50's is ideal for Jerbaits. Go to section of lake the sees the sun the longest.
  7. I only use 2 worms for DS, Robo or Zoom finesse and also throw them Neko due to there buoyancy. This past summer I filled a bucket with water and tested every plastic worm in my arsenal " many " and was surprised how many sunk as fast as a penny......fine for weightless/Texas. Maybe just a personal thing but feel like I catch more fish with a buoyant worm when DS, Neko or Carolina. Aaron's magic is my favorite color.
  8. When you buy in bulk, your committed.

Yeah, don't think hook color matters at all but looking cool and relevant goes a long ways. Lol

I use red for everything, not sure why.
  11. Wow, didn't realize I could relate to so many members on here, good to here. Maybe it's an age thing but working with hands and just sucking it up is old school mentality. Something broke, you fix it. Rings cracked in an old car, you pulled the heads. You cut and split wood every weekend. You pulled weeds in the garden and picked potatoe bugs. Lol You pulled the covers over your head at night so the mosquitoes didn't chew you up. Oh, and I still work part time at my brother's sawmill handling 064 Stihls at age 59. Who started this thread ?
  12. Yep, experiencing the same thing but not gonna fret......bigger things going on.
  13. Most often, giving is better than receiving.......he felt that. Thanks for posting.
  14. Yes, my bad, talking about power. I'm well aware of fast action, moderate and so on and understand the concept, just trying to grasp why different rod manufacturers vary so much
  15. Lol, those were largemouth bass but does it really matter when catching.......or should I say, getting owned by the better half, couldn't help it.
  16. Was bored today " rain " greased worm gears. Well that didn't keep me entertained so tied a 5lb weight to each rod and raised each one taking note, visual. I have a couple of heavy actions that bend slightly more than MH of same length.....I know, elementary. But does raise a question. What formula is used to determine a rods power ? And is there an industry standard? I often hear members giving reviews of particular rods claiming that they're MH is on the heavy side or vice versa. Just curious.
  17. On the cheaper side, I really like the Lews tournament TP1 speed stick, got another one on the way. When I finally get tired of throwing Jerkbaits in the spring I'll spend more time with 6'10 - 7'0 MH speed sticks on casting then any other rod in my arsenal. MH's are very versatile. Imo
  18. Sounds like you had a lot of fun and man enough to admit when you're getting owned by your wife. Lol
  19. I use the Alberto, no failures to report. The knot never becomes a nuisance with lighter lines. The bigger the lines, the bigger the knots.
  20. Awesome of you to post those pics. And WOW what a pig.
  21. Having the knot just outside of the spool before you cast allows for tension on that section of line from lure weight and the force created by the cast, this centers the knot through the guides.....kinda like a bullseye. I use 15 - 20# Power Pro with 8 - 12# Sunline sniper.
  22. No, the knot is just outside the spool when ready to cast so it's actually 7 - 8ft leader and retie new leader when it gets down to around 3ft. Lots of baits I don't use leaders with.....moving reaction baits like spinnerbaits , buzzbaits, chatterbaits and top water. I'm not saying leaders are an absolute must but gives me more confidence in clear waters I fish, especially finesse presentations and baits that bass can examine. You'll also find leaders eliminate treble snags that braid is so accustomed of.
  23. You shouldn't have any issues with a good leader knot, should work fine. I prefer the leader knot to be outside of the spool on cast as it eliminates knot contact with guides.
  24. I'm an extremely laid back person who can tolerate the most belligerent types of people and circumstances in stride. BUT, you should see the way I behave and the things that come out of my mouth when spinning in circles, fighting the wind in small craft.......its even magnified when wind wasn't in the forecast. 10 mph is my limit.
  25. Sounds like your really having fun and enjoying this great hobby. Great Smallmouths also.
