  1. Fisherman have this in common......they vary drastically in equipment and technique. Lol I throw a Buzzbait on mh rod, 20# braid and sweep the rod instantly on bite, just like a spinnerbait.
  2. 35* here in Va with wind gusts of 30 mph, 32* tonight........BUT 80* coming Friday, wow.
  3. It should have came with instructions but it's basically plug and play regarding the canister......undo some velcro and screw in the arming kit.
  4. Water temps have an effect on fish activity. Air temps have an effect on fisherman activity, this one anyway.
  5. My local lake gets terrible with slime during the summer months. Frogs are great. Flukes along the edges of surface blooms and drop shots paired with floating baits. Every soft plastic needs the hook to be tex-posed to alleviate slime buildup. That said, still battle some slime.
  6. Nice fish. Love seeing young fisherman throwing casting gear.
  7. I'm only a bass fisherman but can tell you this......every single pike, pickerel and Musky I've accidentally caught over the years was caught on a Jerkbait.
  8. Same issue here as this is my 1st full year of retirement. Went yesterday " Thursday "on 178 acre lake and betting 50 boats, trucks parked in the grass. Every cove I entered in search of spawning fish, I got leap frogged. Lol
  9. Deer Rapids is just south of Strasburg on the river. Yes, can get very shallow in summer months.
  10. We must be fairly close, fish quite a bit around Deer Rapids, above and below.
  11. Well at least your compassionate about the fish you pursue and yes , yanking them from their beds can be a disruption. BUT on most occasions I visually see them return and resume duty......it's the game we play.
  12. Get a med action lightning rod from Walmart. I still have a couple that's 30 years old. You don't want those tiny flimsy rods for bass fishing. Then see if they have a Mitchell 300, your set.
  13. You may have a unique skill set but we will find you.
  14. I've found fishing less productive at home......everytime.
  15. Had it happen and won't tolerate an unwanted knot, cut and retie.
  16. I use Croch 1/4 for lakes, price is right.
  17. What if the cows are laying ?
  18. The problem in the east is significant drop in water temps, over 10* drop in our lakes.

Use to use it religiously many years ago, messy, got all over boat. Quit using it and bass never complained.
  20. Weather has way more influence on me than any table has on fish. That said, I've seen first hand the effect a full moon has on humans while at work. If Bass could only be so aggressive.
  21. We have 3 nights this week forecasted in the mid 30's. The migration of Loons in these parts is starting to make sense.
  22. Recently heard a report claiming this past April was the coolest in 15yrs. So, I must have been disgruntled 15 yrs ago, just can't remember. I just want to hang up the gloves and toboggan. Lol

Get a Border collie and let him out at night. I'm surprised how many moles and shrews I discard.

Not being able to see them surely adds to the pain of loosing them. Very sorry to hear and hope you and your wife find comfort.
  25. Maybe artificial, I'm not touching a Giant desert centipede. ?
