I bounce around all over the state of VA and WV. Really enjoye fishing new water. If I travel more than 3 hours, usually stay a couple of days or more and usually with the wife and dog. I'm certain I'll hit over 20 different lakes in 2024, Lord willing.

We've kept stats at our hunting camp for over 50 years, pictures with caliber used. 7mm-08 is responsible for more deer than any other caliber, next .308. We have a few Elk hunters, 7mm mag. Elephant? .460 weatherby mag if I ever hunted one. When I predator hunted years ago, fox, Bobcat and Coyotes, liked a .17 Hornet.

Fishing is actually counter productive personally, it keeps me from regular exercise and work around the house. This time of year when I'm not fishing, stretching and exercise is daily. I'm not a good enough fisherman to keep a bent rod. 😂

If I'm trying to imitate a craw it's Jigs or Speed craw on Shakyhead. Texas rig makes me think of worms which I throw a lot. I don't think anything beats a jig prespawn, just my opinion.

After a very busy year of bass fishing, finally pulled the plug. Been catching a few bass in December but water temps dropped into the upper 30's and promptly took back to back skunks. Cleaned up the boat, serviced it.....done until March.

Never threw a Ned rig or a Neko this past year.

I keep a box of cheap lipless ( Amazon ) for wood but there's a down side to the real cheapies....... they don't wobble as well on a slow retrieve so I either have to burn them or use a yo-yo retrieve. I may try cutting the hooks as suggested.

I've done it once, hard to get on plane 😳 But once you do it will draw the water out then hang over transom and install plug. My goal is to avoid duplicating any and all of Bill Dance bloopers. Ha Ha

Not nearly as much water as mentioned above but roughly 25 lakes inside of a 90 minute drive. My personal favorite lakes have campgrounds so I bring the wife and the dog and spend the week.

Flukes and jerkbaits are tied on somewhere down in the rod locker as well.
