  1. I've always used a 50/50 mix of simply green, scrub and vacuum...... smells good too ?.
  2. Thanks for the great posts. Something I will work on when fishing alone. Impossible in my buddies boat as he's constantly moving and power fishing.
  3. Bearded only during designated turkey season. Hens can be shot during turkey / deer season.
  4. This is behind the house on my camera.
  5. LoL, have the same scale. I test my drags at the end of each year after servicing them and they always fall under the advertised rating. BUT smoothness is what I seek.
  6. Airguns have taken off around here and those who've never shot one would be amazed by their accuracy. My Air Arms is more accurate than any rim fire I own at 50 yards. Also have an Airforce......and an air bow. Lol
  7. You'd have to meet this guy, super nice but not a care in the world. His boat has sat all winter with ethanol blend fuel, needs an impeller, oil hasn't been changed in years, lower unit as well. Oh, rotting fuel line and No trailer maintenance. He's 67 and not likely to change anytime soon.
  8. We have a solid turkey population here at the house. I've not hunted them in a couple of years but always let a buddy of mine know when the gobblers sound off. I always deep fried them in peanut oil, not bad.
  9. I just bought a new Bass Boat about a month ago and drove over 1000 miles round trip. I ain't paying 55K for glass when I can it for half that in aluminum.
  10. I have sonar but not married to it. Prefer it in the console for depth, water temps and time of day. When I'm on the bow, I'm fishing and not squinting over a screen.
  11. My buddy and I have this conversation often, he hates leaders because of break-off. I tie 15# PP braid to 8# Sunline Snyper using an Alberto knot, 7up 7back. Each time I snag and break, it's always at the hook leaving behind leader to retie.
  12. First off ! Since when has a $55,000 boat been considered a budget boat ? I paid 62K for my 1st house, brand new. Lol In my network of fishing friends, more Nitro's are being fished out of then any other boat and yet to have heard a complaint. My longtime best friend has had Skeeters, hydro sports and now a Cheetah. He never winterizes properly, no maintenance on lower units, never replaced an impeller, leaves boat uncovered. We've had numerous issues almost every trip out. It's gotten to the point that we only take my boat. It's the owner, not the boat.
  13. I agree, do it the old fashioned way with a handshake. Not everyone conforms to " the way of the world ". You'll get access to the pond much quicker in person than you would through a text.
  14. I throw 20# braid exclusively with casting gear and Spinnerbaits happen to be my bait of choice in many circumstances, a favorite bait. I only use 3/8 - 1/4 Spinnerbaits on a 6'9 med action and rarely lose a fish. Braid doesn't stretch so a sweeping hook set is all that's needed and the Med action rod stays loaded preventing spitting the hook. Not sure why but bass love to jump when a Spinnerbait is in their mouth.
  15. If you'd like to start with a user friendly caster until you get the hang of it and likely the best $100 reel on the market. Shimano SLX
  16. I always get my covers from Amazon, SUBSTANTIALLY less than custom. I don't tow with boat covered and the boat is garage kept. Only time I cover is when the wife and I are on a long fishing trip " week or more" and I want sun protection while we're not on the boat. My longtime friend goes custom but his boat is stored outside year around.
  17. I have twice as much tackle in my Gun room then what I carry on the boat. I could possibly run out of favorite soft plastics but could change up and fish for a decade easy.
  18. I've used Vicious in the past, good line and if I remember correctly they claim " no fade ".
  19. Something else to consider regarding braid and something I struggled with after many years of using mono and flouro. You no longer need to swing for the fences on a hook set. I lost some good fish in my home run swing....... just a sweep is all that's needed.
  20. I'm sure Elaztech could eat fishing line if long term contact was afforded. Heck, I have Plano boxes that look like they have cellulite from the stuff. Leave line in there original container to eliminate contact and you'll be fine and I highly recommend leaving Elaztech in there original bags with only other Elaztech.
  21. Are you Jimmy Houston.....be honest.
  22. It's never ending unless you're losing interest..... obviously not the case here.
  23. A digging fish in the water puts more pressure on the line then it's actual weight. A 5lb bass can snap 10lb line when you take the drag out of the equation. I'd also check the top guide of your rod for any nicks and cuts.
  24. Straight 20# PP braid on all casting. 15# PP braid to 8# Sunline Snyper on spinning.
  25. We have an abundance of rattlesnakes and copperheads. Rattlesnakes just want to be left alone and are not aggressive. Copperheads on the other hand welcome combat.
