    Welcome to Bass Resources
  3. Glad to hear no one was seriously injured. Often fish with a guy I'd consider a renegade. Everytime we're on my boat I have rules that he shrugs at. I won't get on plane unless PFD's are worn and pedestals are removed. He claims that it costs us precious fishing time. Boat traffic will steadily increase as summer approaches, slow down and stay safe.
  4. That was actually the first Striper I've caught and the fight was insane. Also here that they taste good but threw it back.
  5. I have a low tolerance for a vehicle that starts having nickel and dime issues......dump the truck and get another one.
  6. I throw mainly 3/8 swim jigs using a Dobyns Fury 703C. Straight 20# PP braid for years without issue.
  7. Pickerel scratch up Jerkbaits and they don't fight. A beautiful fish though and no way would I kill one.
  8. I plan all my trips around wind first and foremost. This may sound like an '0le wives tale but has proven itself. Buddy and I were heading to the lake yesterday morning and he said " this ain't gonna be a good day of fishing because all the cows are lying down ". We caught 2 fish in 6 hours with overcast and very light wind. I may just buy a cow and plan around that.
  9. White Spinnerbaits have always worked best here. Our river has a lot of eddies and shelf's and prefer 1/4 oz with combination Colorado and willow blades.
  10. Was fishing lilly pads in 3ft of water, throwing a Spinnerbait. This was an unbelievable fight, thinking 10lb LM. All my Striper buddy's say troll in deep clear water.
  11. Same ^ I only reel left handed with spinning and have a mix of left and right with casting.
  12. They salted the roads 1 time, never put the truck or Jeep in 4wd and never hooked up the plow all winter. Not sure that's ever happened before here in north west VA.
  13. I pay $ 7.69 for 10 at the local bait shop. What are you paying for 7 ?
  14. Around here there are 10 in a bag at 77 cent per bait, the packaging looks the same as you show.
  15. We as fisherman are going to form an opinion based on experience, at least that's the way I do it. I've only owned 1 reel that failed miserably right out of the box and never considered that brand moving forward.......it starts with a Q ?. My wife Crappie fishes with a President about twice a year, it's held up great. Lol
  16. Jimmy Houston fishes a Spinnerbait in almost any situation and at various depth. I can physically see my Spinnerbaits 99% of the time " clear water " and the 1% that I get the chance to throw them in stained water, I can feel them, especially Colorado blades. If you don't want your Spinnerbait sinking on the retrieve go to a single Colorado blade with a paddle tail trailer. Zman Bullzeye is my go to.
  17. I've only taken 1 turkey with a bow in over 40 years of archery hunting...... they have good eyesight.
  18. Swim jigs and 55* water temps go hand and hand. Imo Other considerations are Jerkbaits, square bills, Spinnerbaits and underspins.
  19. You had an unintentional umbrella rig going on. Lol
  20. Spro and Lucky craft are 2 that I like.
  21. Welcome to Bass Resources
  22. I keep a dropshot rigged on my boat year around It's my preferred clear water technique. It's not a heavy cover bait but edge of grass lines and steep rocky banks, nothing does better. Imo
  23. That's a big moment you got to share with your grandson and nice bird.
  24. If the plug is fairly snug without the ring, use dielectric grease to keep it water proof. I've had to do it on an RV where the ring broke and dielectric grease worked like a charm.
  25. I grab the cheapest spare I can get as long as the load rating is sufficient and keep it on the back of the truck.......paid $78 for rim and tire. If I were to get a flat, the spare would be only temporary until the original got replaced or repaired with a quality radial tire.
