General line questions
IDK CXX was a nightmare for me. Even P Line floroclear managed better but i still prefer YZH as an overall line.

Inexpensive frog rod
Its the rod im currently using and it has performed great. It gets double duty as a carolina rod for me as well. I have it paired with a 8 speed Fuego and 40lb Sufix 832 . I was surprised by this rods ability to cast.

Tatula 100 vs. SLX as a "workhorse" reel
On my I it wasnt the gears but the pinion bearing. After greasing that good it was smooth again.

Bought nib curado 200 today 50.00
Ill give you $55 and not a penny more jk ... great find! Maybe it was stolen 15 years ago and the owner now knows its past the statute of limitations for them to be charged and prosecuted so theyre finally selling it. The Bantam Bandit strikes again!

Good worm?
Skip the pack and buy this instead Shipping is going to be the same either way and in my opinion this is the best purchase you can make to get started with soft plastics. Though it may vary, the two packs ive ordered have contained: Soft Jerkbaits Worms of all sizes Stickbaits Swimbaits Grubs Trailers Toads

lews Mr. Catfish spinning rod
How are they snapping? Are you fishing braid with the drag locked down? A snapping rod is usually the result of equipment that is not balanced, not of a cheap product.

Buying and reselling fishing gear
Sometimes you also just get lucky. Academy I go to had a cage full of Lews TP1s and Team All Star rods going for $15 each a while back.

Need help on a purchase.
No experience with those rods but Pfluegers Presidents are well built.

The Favorite
All Star Classic ACL GT2 ... while not one of the more sought after All Star rods, its one that I learned to appreciate. The rod was labeled for use with crankbaits but only brought me frustration when I attempted to fish them with it. Once I began using it as a jig rod, it really began to shine.

Reels Depreciating in value
I agree with what people above have said. You dont buy Doyos for resale value. Typically enthusiast reels are the ones which will hold there value which the reels you mentioned are not (with certain exceptions of course).

Shimano slx upgrades?
Gears should be swapped in sets I wouldn't attempt swapping only the main gear.
-
Shimano slx upgrades?
The pinion is different due to the lack of x ship in the SLX. X Ship requires a longer shaft on the pinion gear to accomodate the additional bearing.

Marketing/Hype vs Science/Common Sense
We fish because we enjoy it. The reels, rods, and lures all represent just one more thing for us to continue to learn about and hope to master. If fishing were only about catching fish this would be me.

Which combo and why??
Make sure to ask for it to go even if youre going to eat it there. They always give you more when you get a to go box.

Carolina Rig Mainline + Leader ?
My experience too. I have also noticed that they are the weakest link as breakoffs when using them happen at the keeper. I have since switched to peg bobber stops and havent looked back.

Pflueger spools swappable?
Same generations are interchangable so long as they are the same reel size.
-
What is the best way?
Water and dawn should be fine. If you really want to splurge, KVD Line and Lure conditioner. For the cork I've had good luck with the Mr. Clean magic erasers.

Daiwa Tatula CT Handle and Levelwind Bushings to Bearings
I got them from the place below. Like Jedi, I did both handles and levelwind. https://trbrc.com/trb-rc-10-4x7x2-5mm-precision-stainless-steel-ball-bearing-fishing-reels/ If I were to do it again, I would probably only do handles. I run TSI 321 on the levelwind which provides no protection against water in that area. *Note: when you do the handles you will likely have to remove/play around with the spacers that are there. There should be 2 of them. 1 of which is paper thin.

Cinching a knot
I pull both and am probably overly careful when cinching knots. For example when tying a palomar knot, the tag end is what closes the loop that the hook goes through. I always make sure that that one is drawn tight and just over the hooks eye before grabbing both the tag and mainline and drawing them tight. While this is a small detail, in my personal unscientific tests this is how i get the best knot strength out of the Palomar. Also as noted above, wetting the knot is important.

Baitcaster problem
Yeah that was what I gathered from it. But thats definitely not something normal. If you are spinning the handle and letting it turn without your hand on it and then abruptily stopping it, it may make the clicking noise but the spool should stop. If you are spinning the handle with your hand on it at all times and its doing this when you stop turning it thats not good.

Baitcaster problem
Maybe im not getting it, but what was the issue? Based on what he said " I was out on the water and started reeling really fast and stopped " I cant see what was done wrong ...?
