  1. If you havent tried it before, this is the perfect chance to learn to service a reel yourself. The bearings are likely shot and will need to be replaced but its not rocket science. And based on my experience, all other things equal, cheaper old reels use higher quality material than cheaper new reels.

  3. I hope thats the case because i have a 1 lb tub on the way!
  4. Yeah I don't know any of these people personally so I'm just basing it off my perceived product quality.
  5. All of them. I'd do anything with that reel
  6. This is one of those reels ive seen all over youtube and have honestly wondered if some company is paying people to push these things.
  7. I had previously been using Yamalube on my reels on gears and moving parts based upon reading Alan Tani's posts regarding grease and oil. I guess I felt like "if this guy says its the best, then it must be the best". Today I decided to try Cal's Tan on gears instead of the Yamalube and WOW ... what a difference! The reel is noticeably smoother than it was before. I've read about people complaining the stuff hardens, but I feel like that shouldn't happen within a year and by that time the grease will be changed anyways. Anyhow, figured I would post this for anyone who like me was on the fence about trying different types of grease.
  8. If im retyin on the water its my preferred knot for its simplicity. Although I do put zap a gap over it just for safe measure.
  9. Prayers with everyone out there, man. Things are ugly.
  10. I use yamalube on my reels but didnt know if micro module wanted something different
  11. Do they really require different grease or is this Shimano just recommending their own?
  12. Are bail-less reels meant to be cast or trolled? It would seem more time consuming to me to have to find the right spot on the spool to hook the line under every time than just closing the bail.
  13. Fishing wont straighten it out if the spool is uneven down to the backing unless youre spooling the reel on every cast.
  14. Yeah I should be good for a while. I picked up a bunch of the pink ones on Sierra Trading Post a while back for about $25 a piece.
  15. I usually tighten until there is no side to side play. Not sure thats the case but that was what caused it on my Citica I
  16. How loose was your spool tension knob when spooling the line?
  17. Id second this except with the suggestion of a Pflueger President instead of a Trion.
  18. Make sure you arent tangled at the rods tip top ... speaking from experience uh a friend's experience
  19. How are you picking out your backlashes? If youre just pulling on the line until it frees itself thats whats breaking it
  20. There is no overall "better" gear ratio. It all comes down to what lure youre throwing and how you like to fish. 6.4:1 is good for most applications
  21. The curado K is more forgiving on the dial/braking than the I generations
  22. I dont know about last ever, but im definitely in lust with my Curado 200K right now
  23. I never understood people who said infinity braking was hard to set until i cleaned my bearings. What I've found is that I can't really use the external dial under 3 either. I have played around with it and even with 3 blocks on, if I set the external dial to 1, bad things happen. One thing I really dislike is the indicators on the dial ... theyre pretty darn hard to see in low light
