Those buckshot loads from a short barrel .410 impressed me. If a body can’t shoot and needs a pattern- the 3 ball federal loads and the disc loads by Winchester? Shot good from a 3” judge. I enjoy controlling my poisonous snake numbers and have found the .410 revolver priceless in the shooting of 60-80 poisonous serpents during the last few years. 2 legged snakes would equally wiggle their last if deemed guilty by the judge and sentenced to buckshot under 45’. I would fancy one of those S&W models if ever I could shed my shadowing bait monkey ?

Zman with a baby paca

Bought my first Z man jig last night and it happens to be pb &j but I think they called it pumpkin jelly. Besides the goofy looking crosseyez on the jig I am surprised these are not more popular? A search online showed hardly any forum mentioning them. Vmc 5/0 hook, copper tied skirts, good trailer holder and a bass pro designed. Where’s the love for Zman jigs?

Is the Speed Trap a lure everybody needs or is not anything special? I just picked up a few of the Frittside cranks and noticed the Speed Traps hanging nearby. The ones my shop has are made in Indonesia. Does anybody know when manufacturing of these left the U.S. and did it allegedly affect the lure?

There is also guys that subscribe to the idea of a ewg on the front and a round bend on the back of crank baits. If a fish goes to engulf that lure the sure holding of the ewg will pay off or if he only swipes at the lure then there is the added insurance of the round bend catching him with only a swipe made. Then on upsizing hooks there is the idea that adding too big of a hook will affect the action however this time of year turning a wobbling crank into a wiggle by that effect would be the needed prescription. I have been reading and studying on the hooks a lot recently trying to learn more. Hopefully someone with more experience in these thoughts can add to the discussion.

When you get time watch some of Matt Allen and Tim Littles videos on lipless. I recall Matt saying it is a must, to go to ewg hooks and up a size on the hooks.

Once lost but now found. A Strike King Diamond Shad was sticking up outta the sand. It was missing its finish, both hooks and the rear split ring. I pulled it from the sand and shook it and it sang to me that sweet lipless song we all know and love. It is now ready to be lost again ? watch out bass!!

I ended up casting for about an hour and had 6 smallmouth take my Berkley Powerbait Jerk Shad. I was using 3/0 hooks and I never got a single fish in. I was using a spinning setup with a 6’ medium fast rod. I was throwing into 4 feet or less deep crystal clear water and constant twitching without stopping and I could see the bass slam the lure and I’d set the hook and after 2-4 seconds every fish came off. Would I be better off nose hooking these on a mosquito hook? Or going with a lighter wire hook? Green pumpkin was the color and it was on today!!!
