Welcome aboard James. I’m a big St. Croix guy but the rods you mentioned are good. If your only going to get one set up I would go with a 6’11” to a 7’1” med.heavy since your in Florida. I would go to a store and see what one feels good to you.

I hear where your coming from bud, but as someone who also hunted with his father I’d give the world to be able to fish, hunt or argue with him again. I’d definitely just keep it inside. In the long run you guys will be better off.

There are formulas out there that will tell you what you need for the hours you fish.

By just asking the question your piece of mind will be to go to the 2” straps.

It would take some Big improvements on any other for me to switch from my Ultrex. IMO MinnKota is still #1 on the market.
