  1. Get a piece of plastic wedge and stick it in there along side, after plugging it in.
  2. At least you are together. My son used to be my best fishing buddy. Now he's 25 and thinks I'm an idiot, so soak up the good relationship. It means a bunch to your pops, trust me.
  3. Sadly happening to lots of different type stores. I miss the days when I could just run down and buy. Now it's waiting for the mail.
  4. I'll trade doves cooing a hundred to one over the crows cawing insanely every morning in the trees in my back yard.
  5. I love mandolin in a band setting. Was always going to get one but didn't. I'm a guitar hack finger picker.
  6. Can you explain 'best drag'? Smooth or large? Easy start up? Material? I have never used a Daiwa spinner.
  7. No intelligence here, lol. The California delta is lined with rip rap in a lot of good launch areas. I was always afraid I'd scratch a gouge in the plastic of my Basshunter. The carpet sounds like a great idea. But like you said, heavy and bulky. If the launch is permanent, I say mix it, more sand than gravel. You will get scratches but we all have them on our boats without serious issue. I put in where I could over the years and my hull shows it but it's still in fine shape.
  8. I never heard of the guy, but he apparently made an impact as an entertainer, a humanitarian and gave service to his country. A full life.
  9. Is it just me or do the 16 year old You Tube experts hold no interest to me?
  10. Any rod repair guy would fix both for $20 I bet. I just had a guide replaced on an old Team Daiwa flipping stick. Asked me for $15, but I gave him $20 anyway.
  11. You need to get a plastic boat Schplurg, it will open up a whole new world. You know I spent a lot of time working in Morgan Hill, and I don't recall seeing any fishing areas.
  12. I'm a retired Landscape Contractor. Didn't do landscapes. I found a niche and utilized my only real talent. It was the only way I could be outdoors all the time. If I was a better business man I could have been rich. But instead I fish, lol.
  13. I'd fish with you, you are a smart guy. And I always have my own vest and radio.
  14. I've got (2) Stradic 3000's, (1) 2000, (3) 1000's, and (1) Sustain 1000. ALL with the wooden handle. ALL working fine. I'm easy on my stuff, I only catch little fish.
  15. I recently acquired a bunch of the Tourney IM7. They have a little finish cracking around the guides but I'm going to use them for night fishing so I don't cry if I lose one. They do have cork handles which I really like. They don't strike me as having been expensive.
  16. Sandwich time! Gives me time to slow down and think about what I think is going to work. Then I rig up my new lure ideas and get back at it.
  17. I'm stubborn. That trait kept me on the water all night sometimes. I wasn't leaving until I caught 'one more'. And it let me observe nature. I told fish ' Aha, I see where you are now'. I would see all kinds of behaviour that I didn't see during the day.
  18. For some reason our local lake is still closed. They said Covid was the reason but there is no fishing from shore or boat. I'm itching to throw all my new baits at the bass and stripers. Edit: Checked the website, now closed because of fire danger.
  19. Get two buddies to anchor up in his spot early. Just kidding. This is why I never tournament fished. Don't need self induced drama and stress. I did bet a work friend a six pack once that I could catch more than him. I caught 32, he caught 2. He was so mad he never fished with me again. So I don't even play at competing anymore. Lost a potential fishing bud over a sixer. I know, my story has not a thing to do with money chasing types.
  20. I would take it apart. You got some fine dirt in there. Take pics as you go, set things down in the order they come off. You can do it. You were wise to stop using it.
  21. Do it for fun. It's addicting. Every time I set up I end up pouring a whole lot! I pour mostly saltwater. Jumbo Slug-go, various squids, all sizes swimbaits, etc. But you need to get on the water to use them. I made all my molds from resin, and just use Baitmate spray scents as a mold release. Just don't breathe the stuff, and remember to cover all your skin. I had a pyrex cup shatter as I was moving to pour. Got an instant blister where it landed on me.
  22. Obvious answer is he's confirming it will start. You guys that fish all the time or have newer motors can drop it already. Us guys with the old motors like to check every thing is good before going. Some two strokes are fussier than others.
  23. Both my trucks have rollers. But my work van is all power.
  24. I'm not smart enough to know which to use when. I love using the suspending Rapala in summer too. I just imagine what the bass is seeing as my minnow darts and pauses.
  25. That may indeed be true too. Yeah, I thought maybe not a good idea to even post. The world is changing fast, even in my hood. But you almost can't even mention race or the Karen's come out and label you quick.
