  1. Bud, I can get you a map of the lake but they are pretty lame compared to Google Earth. This area (Stonewall Jackson) has been added to Google Earth and the resolution is pretty good. Good enough to see flooded timber and riprap. The only bad thing is the photo was taken during the winter so the lake is muddy in some spots. :-/ Shoot me a PM with your address and I'll mail you a copy of the map that Army Corps Of Engineers has for the lake. I have always wanted to get over to Jennings Randolph and fish the main lake. I have fished the tail waters before in the early spring for those big rainbows. No big fish for me today, the wind was blowing the boat everywhere. The big fish of the day was 2 lbs. Maybe tomorrow?? :-/
  2. Wow!! Quite an intro. Nice to have another one of you Cali guys on here. Looks like you're no different than the rest of them, posting pics of fish I dream about catching. Welcome Aboard!!
  3. Flipping and pitching a jig into heavy cover came natural to me. This is my most "comfortable" way to fish. 8-)
  4. I will fish 3-5 days a week in the warmer months (April - October). This year it looks like I may be fishing past Thanksgiving. On the weekends it is daylight to dark. Anywhere 12 - 16 hours on the water at a time. I fish entirely out of a Boat, with the exception of flyfishing for trout on the hotter summer days.
  5. I never trim my weed guards. :-? If I did, I would be hung up 90% of the time from some of the thick brush I fish in. :-/ I still get hung even without trimming. I very rarely have problems sticking fish with a full weed guard. Some guys that fish lakes with no brush and little weeds may get by with trimming quite a bit off the guard.
  6. 3.75 pounds +/- :-?
  7. Glad you liked the lake. Were you shocked how low the lake was? It is about 6.5' below normal pool right now. I'm going first thing in the morning rain or shine. Next time you're coming this way shoot me a PM and I'll show you a few good spots. The lake is only 15 minutes away from my house. Hope I'll be posting a few beauties tomorrow night. The jig bite has been crazy there lately. BTW, Welome to the best fishing site on the net!!!
  8. Be safe. We expect a full report when you return.
  9. I have flipped with them one time and caught a few but I like them better as a jig trailer. The fish just refuse to let go of the jig when using these as a trailer.
  10. No wonder Muddy named you Mook at Arms. That's a big ol' fish with a big ol' SPEEDBEAD holding it. Nice trout man.
  11. I had the same problem while fishing a lake this summer choked with lilly pads. I started fishing a T-rigged 10" Ol' Monster Zoom worm with a 1/2 oz. bullet weight pegged. Caught fish the rest of the day and it went right through that mess. 8-)
  12. Megabass Vision 110 model year 2000 color: M Shad 8-)
  13. Good Call!! I think you hit the nail on the head Wayne.
  14. That's what I was thinking. I mean a swimbait that is custom made like 4bizz and some of the others on here use that is hard plastic or wood and has a tough finish I could see dropping that kind of dough on. But soft plastic?? I hope that guy has a bottle of Mend-It on hand!! ;D
  15. I know without a shadow of a doubt that these may be good baits but are they this good? Sure would like to be sittting on a case of 500 of these babies right now to sell. : http://cgi.ebay.com/1-pk-of-basstrix-paddle-tail-tubes-6-color-pearl_W0QQitemZ130166328187QQihZ003QQcategoryZ31691QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
  16. These things have been out for a little over a year now but still haven't shown up in mainstream sales yet. I saw them in last Nov. issue of Lure magazine. They were using them as jig trailers on small finesse jigs like 1/32 oz.
  17. Lowe's, Home Depot, might have the one you're looking for. If not, your local heating and cooling buisness will have one but it will be a little more costly most times.
  18. Maybe not my favorite but one I couldn't do without is my lanyard with clippers, scissors, hook sharpener, knife and pliers. It has a small float attached in case it gets dropped in the drink.
  19. ZPI and Bassart for the handles and grips. Spool upgrades by ZPI and IZE. Bearing upgrades for the reel and handles and grips. Before you know it, that $200.00 reel will be a $400.00 reel.
  20. Silk Worm, the only place I know of right now is eBay. Sometimes Gander Mountain and Academy have hard to find GYCB plastics.
  21. Green Monte was kickin' the serious three wheel motion. ;D
  22. I think ghoti is right on the mark here. When they start to go bad they will not stay lit for very long.
  23. Johnson Cisco rod and reel combo. Everything was green and its was the most beautiful thing in the world at the time to me.
  24. Imakatsu Hairy Hog 4" version rigged on a 5/0 gammy EWG hook and jigs.
