  1. Doesn’t really matter. I never use 40. I use 30 or 50. 30 for some of my moving baits and topwater, 50 for heavy grass and frog fishing.
  2. Moderate fast. Great multipurpose rod. Use mine for traps, shallow cranks, spinnerbaits, small toowater, light Texas rig
  3. Memory happens with all mono especially if it sits on your spool for a while or you fish in cold weather. Stretching it or catching a few fish will straighten it out
  4. I do this after I spool it and do it every now and again if I haven’t used the reel in a While. Tie the line to a fence post, mailbox, etc. walk off a little more than casting distance and pull on the line a few times. You don’t have to pull hard, just enough to stretch it. Been doing this forever and never had any issues with the line.
  5. Just subscribed. Great site and channel, thanks!
  6. I guess I’m doing it all wrong fishing jigs and Texas rigs on big game ?. I’ve been wanting to try sufix advance, but am hesitant due to issues I’ve had with their braid.
  7. I wouldn’t call it poop. I’m sure there are better lines out there with less memory and better handling but ive tried many different mono lines over the years and I always come back to these two. What mono do you fish?
  8. I fish trilene xl 300 yard filler spool off the floor to spool my 2500 spinning reels. I Wouldn’t use big game or xt on spinning unless I was using a 4000 sized reel
  9. I’ve been spooling mono on my spinning reels off the floor for years and never had line twist issues. As I said in my previous post I always make sure the line comes off the spool counter clockwise. I’ve never spooled a spinning reel the way you do, but have seen this recommended and I will have to try this method because there are certain line brands that have a notch in the spool and makes spooling off the floor very hard because every time the line hits the notch the spool wants to flip over.

  11. Make sure when you spool mono on a spinning reel you lay the spool flat and the line comes off the spool in a counter clockwise direction. Also after spooling, take your rod and reel outside and tie your line to a tree, fence post or whatever you have available and walk off a little bit more than a casting distance worth of line and stretch the line for a few seconds and reel back on.
  12. Braid for all topwater. Anywhere from 15-50lb depending on what I’m throwing
  13. Palomar for braid to hook/lure and improved clinch for mono to lure/hook. bene using these knots forever.
  14. Heddon Super spook Berkley power worm floating rapalas
  15. 12lb berkley big game. Over 1,100 yards for $9
  16. A medium heavy casting rod and a medium spinning rod can do A LOT. How much are you looking to spend? Dobyns fury rods run around $100 and they have a rod for everything
  17. Ned rig senko texas rig plastic jig some sort of moving bait depending on where I’m fishing. Could be a swimbait, spinnerbait, Crankbait or topwater
  18. I don’t fish them but my buddy fishes 1/8oz ones early in the season. Clear water or dirty water it’s always straight black
  19. Happens to me too, I rarely get a wind knot from it tho. I fish 6-8lb trilene xl. It normally happens in colder weather when the line becomes stiffer and more memory.
  20. I’ve done very well with the savage gear 3D bluegill and I believe they are $10-$20 depending on size
  21. How does McCoy compare to trilene xl? I’ve been a huge fan of trilene XL for years on my spinning reels in 6-8lb test but it does lack abrasion resistance ever since they changed it years back. It’s softer but more prone to nicks on the line , especially the 6lb.
  22. Curado k And Daiwa fuego
  23. I’ve seen both the original Super slick and v2 literally fall apart and untwist. Original power pro for me
  24. What a fatty. Nice fish!
