  1. I told myself I was never going to try jerkbaits again. That didn’t work out for me I guess One stunna 112+1 and two Pointer SP 78s. If conditions are right I will throw them
  2. I just got a couple of those
  3. How do you retrieve a roadrunner?
  4. They are in short supply
  5. Hey y’all, Thats right. It’s that time for me. It’s time to retire my severely worn out baseball cap. I have worn it for years on every fishing trip, but it is on its last leg. The bill is falling apart, there are stains on the front, the back mesh is all torn up, the cap is misshapen. All I can say is thanks for the good times buddy (talking to the cap now) and live a happy retirement ? Now I need a new hat
  6. I wanna say I remember a guy telling me the water temp was 39 degrees on a lake in NY when I was catching in like November shortly before ice over with that spinnerbait technique. With my most recent post in Latest Catch Pics thread, I dunno how cold the water was but same technique and it felt frigid. I don’t think it catches numbers in the cold but I do think it catches bigguns. Also I did some reading on Shearon Harris, wintertime or otherwise, and spinnerbaits can be a big deal on that lake apparently. No surprise with how many shad there is. If I get on the right spot, y’all look out
  7. I am going to even bigger bass country once done here ? I actually wanted Campbell though
  8. And I need to get you those spinnerbaits too. Yup. I’m behind on both counts. I will think about what I can do to see ya. Another possibility is if I wind up visiting my buddy about to be stationed at Campbell sometime. I’ll let ya know!
  9. ???? Completely agree man. Glad it was a good time
  10. Hey y’all, I wanted to share my thoughts on my newest iRod, the Genesis III Stone Cold Spook and Trap. I got this rod around July and used it in the summer as a Carolina rig rod and also a rod for throwing jigs as search baits. I started to rig it up again for fishing soon, haven’t touched it since the summer, and since I was thinking of it I figured I’d write a review. Cons: Not the most limber of my rods, not the softest of tips, on first impression feels a little stiff actually. This rod does not have the super easy bending tip of my Lone Star Special or 704C. In fact, it seems a little stiff but also seems to bend farther down the rod upon application of first pressure. Pros: Very light for the length and power of the rod, can throw a wide range of lure weights, is the farthest casting and best loading rod I have and it’s not even close, and is one of the most sensitive I have for some reason. I’m not sure what it is about this rod but two of the things that surprised me most about this rod fishing with it is how well it loads on the cast and how sensitive it is. Despite it feeling stiff on my first impression, it proved that it has other nice redeeming qualities. Maybe it is not as stiff as I think? I dunno. It’s a unique rod to me. Final thoughts: Excellent if you want to bomb a bait a mile. Maybe that’s why they labeled it as a spool and trap rod, because it casts so dang far. Surprisingly sensitive and versatile. Still not sure what that stiff feeling is. Id have to spend more time with the rod to comment on how well it holds fish but I haven’t had notable issues with it to date
  11. Drop a compact single colorado to the bottom, slack line fall to let it helicopter, go into an immediate rod snap in case one grabbed it on the fall, and then creep it along at the exact slowest speed where you can just barely feel the blade turning. It will work even in frigid water.
  12. Me personally if I'm on a clearer water lake and I've got cloud cover and cold, cold water temps, it can be very hard to get me to stop throwing a single colorado spinnerbait. Don't really care what the air temp is. Because a spinnerbait is where I feel most comfortable, those overcast winter days are what I love
  13. 31st-like the 2nd or something look like money for days to fish in NC too. Nice and overcast, sorta gentle breeze. Mmmm. Yummy. Juicy. I will be braving one or two of those nasty cold days
  14. Going this winter I plan on taking 8 if I can fit em. It just depends though
  15. Whatchu think about something like an 1/8oz beetle spin in the winter? Used as a drop bait too
  16. Either this story that unfortunately ended in a lost fish Or this fish With the devils horse fish, during that fishing day I had thrown like 5 different baits over an area that I felt held larger fish. And I was so convinced that the area had a larger fish that I decided to try one more lure, the devils horse. I fished it in open water at a very fast speed on a day that most wouldn’t consider a topwater day. I just did it because the lake is generally a good topwater lake and because the structural feature I was fishing was shallow and I felt that I could get a fish to react. Huge fish, but unfortunately lost it. The second fish is more a culmination of hundreds of hours fishing that reservoir. I knew where to be, when to be there, and what to do. And combined with seasonal timing it resulted in my biggest NY bass that I am very proud of. I haven’t heard of a larger bass caught from that reservoir
  17. As an aside, it’s very odd indeed that I have about 100 or more spinnerbaits but no chatterbaits, no jerkbaits, some in-line spinners but I don’t know where they are, no blade baits, no A-rigs. What can I say I like what I like. #spinnerbaitnation #dazzlethem
  18. yup sure as heck. I was surprised too. I remembered you’d made posts in the past like “The first rule of in-line LMB is don’t talk about in-line LMB” so I was surprised you spilled those beans. Maybe I’ll pick some of those in-lines up too and if I catch a 5lber with em, it’s all your fault
  19. I think I read an old post of yours where you said you like JBs, small pieces of plastic on a crappie jig head, jigging spoons, in-line spinners, etc in the winter? I know jerkbaits are so productive in the winter but I hate those things. Maybe I would have to get some anyway
  20. Hey y’all, I really hate to admit this but I’m thinking about getting some chatterbaits to have another option in cold water. I am wondering if slow sweeping or gently lifting off the bottom is productive for you this time of year.
  21. I don’t know what to mark as a solution on this thread because there are so many good posts. This has been one of the most informative and helpful that I’ve started here.
  22. After looking at Navionics, I still am very attracted to the final image I show. There on Navionics I spy an underwater point, a ledge, a creek channel swing, shelves, drains, etc. A lot in the same area. That is where I think I will go first. And just graph around and see what I see
  23. I switched to Navionics for now… on the web app. And let me just say that now that I am seeing the bathymetry on Navionics, I am overwhelmed. So much structure
  24. You can tell him “Santa Shad” is one of Santa’s workers. Like an elf. Elf shad? I dunno what you’ll tell him “slonezp the 2nd” stands for. I’ll leave that up to you lol ? Glad you got it sir ??
  25. We have faith. Now just have faith in me to catch one dink every few days this winter
