Couple river smallies today. Larger one photo’d came on a spinnerbait. Somebody tell TnRiver that spinnerbaits work for smallmouth, I’m not sure if he knows ?.

Caught up on reading some posts on here. @schplurg I reach out in support of you and am very glad to hear that photography and backpacking and more have been other ways for you to enjoy being out in nature and enjoy life. And @slonezp so glad you've found a way to frame your outlook on your injury towards positivity - just doing what you can with what you've got. Totally agree with sentiment inviting anyone who is struggling to reach out for help. If really struggling, talk to a professional. I think anyone who is in a good state mentally should never take that for granted and be kind to people. Also agree with @Slipknot_Fan666 that immersing yourself in work and hobbies you love can be a great way to focus the mind. Sorry, for some reason missed this. Yes. No kayak yet. I went out this afternoon and am very happy to report that it went OK. Back might even feel better after than before. Will ease back into fishing little by little. Kayak fishing might be a ways out, I don’t know yet. No fish but I don’t care! It’s like I rediscovered a part of me that had been missing. And it’d only been three weeks ?. I wonder how I ever made it through winters in NY

My roommate owns a Lodge cast iron and I am welcome to use it. While I will use my own pan out of respect for his stuff, sometimes while cooking I have required two and can’t help but appreciate how much better the Lodge seems to cook my stuff. I like it very much.

LOL. The only thing I want more badly than to return to fishing is to get this injury healed. If I notice pain that doesn’t seem right, I am stopping.

Visited with Physical therapist today and he wants me to return to fishing. Some moderate progress in healing my injury but nothing crazy. Because of this, I will be very cautious in returning to fishing. I’ll be more active on here as well. In my time off, I found new hobbies and learned to cook pretty well but to be honest the biggest thing I learned is that I have no idea how anybody goes through life without fishing, if they are able to, that is ?. I look forward to spending a short while fishing at a pond and seeing how things feel. Hopefully I can begin a slow resume to fishing and other activities but I want to be careful.

I sound like a broken record every time I say this but I would absolutely get/switch out for a slower reel for your spinnerbait setup. I believe having a slower gear ratio helps tremendously when throwing spinnerbaits

In many situations, especially in clearer water, I’ve found that if you are walking the bank and you can see the fish, they are also aware of you. If you can figure out where they are by patterning them and then casting to them where neither of you can see each other, that would be my approach along with a long cast beyond them brought up to them. P.S pay attention to the direction of your silhouette.
