  1. Well, sure there’s some advantages to pitching and flipping in the soundlessness but it doesn’t mean that you should avoid doing something just because you can’t be as super quiet. Now, I roll cast a lot from a kayak and can guarantee that I don’t make much noise on a roll cast. It is just a little louder than a really good pitch. Also, if we’re talking about noise, how about the fact that a kayak can be so so much quieter than a boat if you do it right? I punched just the other day in lily pads with a 3/4oz weight pegged, owner jungle flippin hook, and a gambler burner craw, same thing I would use from a boat. And yeah, you ain’t that new to bass fishing! I’ve only been fishing for 6 years, still a young guy. A lot of people on here more experienced than me.
  2. I can see the merits of having a long rod for jigs, especially when fishing deeper water or perhaps sparser cover. And, well, I like a moderate fast rod for holding fish good. I’ll leave it at that, that I understand. I just got one jig rod and that is what I’ll use for everything jig related, whether it is swimming jigs, skipping docks, fishing brush, offshore, whatever.
  3. I am rather surprised by that. My jig rod is a iRod Genesis III 704C, 7’ Heavy. Absolutely incredible rod but I dissed it nonetheless on a thread because I didn’t think I had a reel that was comfortable on it until I put on a Tatula 100.
  4. Jig is a must have Good to hear your success on it ?
  5. No reason at all. If you watch some punching videos, you’ll notice that at times people will literally lob their bait into the air to try and cannonball their bait through the veggies. Sometimes that is necessary if you are using a lighter weight/one too light for the job. Now tell me why fish would care that you overhand, sidearm, roll cast, or whatever your punch into the veggies. Don’t worry about it a bit, just punch. It’s a great technique. Edit: also, if you are fishing around lily pads you had better fish a spinnerbait and frog around that type of deal too. Spinnerbaits and lily pads is my bread and butter.
  6. Guy broke out a package of footlong twizzlers. Where do you even find those?
  7. To add on to this, I made some decisions during the healing process that I regret. I mentioned that I’ve reinjured this deal a couple of times and it was just because I was impatient and wanted to continue activity. Not very smart. If I made smarter choices I think this would have been over with in a few weeks.
  8. Also look at the blade combination used in the Booyah Covert double Indiana because for whatever reason that’s an awesome spinnerbait for me. #3 in front, #4 rear with a 3/8oz head
  9. Thanks Mike. The good news is I don’t believe this back issue has anything to do with my lower back. I think it is simply my lat but we will see what doctor says. I don’t think lat is as bad as lower back but not sure. I’ve only hurt my lower back once and I healed from that deal very readily. That part of my body is pretty healthy
  10. Hey ya’ll, Well, looks like I’ll be taking a break from fishing. I’ve had a back problem going on for a while now, reinjured it a couple of times and for the past week or so have tried to continue light activity despite having constant inflammation and low level pain. I posted on my feed that I wanted to kayak fish this morning but that is because I was anticipating getting better and it seems I am not. I showed up to a pond this AM super early and noticed that even the act of casting seemed to bug my back a little. Never really paid attention to it but there definitely seems to be something there and might help explain why I have not been getting better. So, right now, to be safe, I’ll be taking a break from fishing and pretty much anything upper-body related. There’s still ways I can enjoy nature around here so I’ll look for other opportunities. Next step is to see a doctor
  11. California 420 is a GREAT all-around color ” Zoom has added an exciting new color California 420 to their lineup. California 420 features a dark (almost black) top with red flake and a watemelon red bottom. Zoom pro staffer Gerald Swindle has been fishing with this color for awhile now and loves it’s versatility. “I normally have colors that I call ‘clear water’ or ‘dirty water” colors,” said Swindle. “But California 420 is one of the very few colors I have ever used that seems to be effective in both. It’s not a color you look at and really say ‘wow,’ but I have caught fish using this color from Clearlake, California to Lake Wheeler, Alabama to Lake Toho, Florida ”
  12. I looked at the body diameter of the speed craw recently after buying a couple of packs and can tell you that I will be throwing them on a 3/0 RB. Hook selection for soft plastics for me is very simple. When I can use a round bend, I will use a round bend. It is my preference over EWG. I use a EWG when I don’t have a round bend that will fit the bait and still provide enough gap between bait size and hook gap. I like the hook gap to be about 2x the diameter of the bait I am using. That simple.
  13. Man that sounds an awful lot like my spinnerbait setup
  14. I like stouts. Never had Murphy’s though. I’ll have to look around for it. Heck I like most beers. The only things that I am more nervous to try are sours and ciders.
  15. I do! Don’t post there a lot though. I tried Miller High Life because of TnRiver and discovered I can get 18 bottles at Walmart for freaking $12 so that is my “Miller Time” from one Miller drinker to another ?
  16. I don’t really think the mag 2 is all that big, because it is thin. I don’t know why, but it has been the ribbontail worm to end all other ribbontail worms for me. I started throwing it everywhere after it worked pond fishing and found it has worked everywhere I use it.
  17. I saw you had a Miller Lite the other day! Boy, that’s a huge change and lots of progress!
  18. Throw a zoom mag 2 right now. Tis the season.
  19. Watermelon red is better than watermelon seed. This is my unapologetic opinion.
  20. Near La Guardia airport around Thanksgiving was the most insane traffic I’ve been in. You simply had to impose your will on people constantly. That was one time I was seriously uncomfortable driving. Some girl looking at her phone lightly rear-ended me at a stoplight too. No damage to the truck. Zion has a hike called Angel’s Landing. I was young and simply would not do the last part of it because of how scary it was to me. If I could, I’d go back in time and slap myself and talk some sense into younger me.
  21. It deserves respect! Takes dedication and discipline to stick to any workout routine over an extended time and have to imagine it is so much harder at “born in fifty nine”, especially if there is much less externally to motivate you. BR is here to motivate ??
  22. From one of my Dad’s cameras Hello there
  23. I’d like to coin a new monkey: the fishing monkey He tells you that you must go fishing when you haven’t in a few days, and there’s nothing you can do about it. So I go out for a little while and fishing monkey leads me to some okay river smallmouth. Thanks ?
  24. Bait monkey
