  1. Uh I like to have good hardware. My lipless cranks all have either mustad triple grips or gamakatsu EWG’s. So, I’ll pay for a bait with good hardware, or I’ll also pay for one with worse hardware and then exchange hardware. I don’t really care, as long as the end result is the same. Edit: by the way, I think I made a thread in the past whether exchanging for EWG’s are really worth it. I concluded that I like to have EWG’s. A common theme that you may have noticed among my posts is that I tend to change my mind about things. Very confident about the way I do things… until Im not. And then the cycle repeats.
  2. I am off the water by 1 PM usually nowadays. It’s nice though, it’s been a little cooler recently.
  3. Of course, many people can pull them off. It’s really just a question of who wants to rock them. But brother, those are not just any shorts. Except for my running shorts, which put those shorts to shame, all shorts I have are like knee length. Different generation though
  4. Well you saw it, now I’ve seen it, now everybody else gets to see it. Iconic Rick Clunn photo. Kind of reminds me of all those weird shots of Walter White in his underwear. Who thinks they could rock the Clunn shorts?
  5. Ain’t trilene 100% fluoro supposed to be decent stuff? How Berkeley puts their name on something like Vanish boggles my mind.
  6. Yeah I didn’t think about some other potential issues with horizontal rod holder… I am not sure there is a perfect solution here. Kind of personal preference and ensuring that you maintain awareness on the water
  7. Better that way
  8. That is exactly what I think I would prefer. Exactly. Thank you very much. What holder is that? You said omega?
  9. I was actually just about to make a thread about this. Really debating what to do. I have for a while just laid rods beside my seat in the kayak with the rods pointing behind me. So far no issues, actually. I try to keep the rods in covers when I do this. Cons: it gets kinda messy in the kayak, especially now that I am carrying more rods. Pros: nothing sticking up in the air. No worries about branches, limbs, docks, etc. If I am going to have to lay the rods down anyway when I get close to something that could touch my rods, what’s the point? Wind and drift around trees is a big problem. I may want to explore more organized ways of laying them horizontally, maybe by use of straps.
  10. Woah cmon I love that stuff (Red Bull) I am a coffee guy but if coffee is not available, I know what to do.
  11. If I was still in college, I would have a lifetime supply from people.
  12. So what I’m hearing is you’re trying it? ?
  13. I am rather liking my two shortest rods. 6'9" and now, recently, a 6'10"
  14. Alternately.... you could just use queen tackle switch blade and just throw it on any jig. Although I heard they are/were in some legal issue regarding rights of their design. I am not inclined to try this but if anyone catches anything on "the beast", uh, let us know I guess.
  15. Someone sent me this. What the heck man
  16. You could hardly convince me to go onto one of those Raleigh heavy hitter lakes (Shearon Harris, Jordan, Falls) on a summer weekend. But I'm fishing from a kayak. What about a weekday? Sure I'll do that. Yeah, I am sure those lakes are fishing a little harder and especially once it gets deep into summer, but I heard a report from somebody recently that they caught a 36lb bag cranking 10ft deep at Jordan. They will continue fishing just fine, in spite of all the pressure. I would go in fall for sure though. Sounds like fun
  17. Just awesome. Congrats on a great finish! I gotta ask, are those flannel jammies that your partner always seems to rock? That man’s a legend
  18. Lest we forget this gem of a post. wonder where - badhabit- is nowadays
  19. That’s cool. Invisx was real good to me when I used it. Abrasx also decent. Never tried Tatsu. Still a mono user but satisfied enough with my experiences with Seaguar fluoro.
  20. I don’t even know what the word finesse means anymore. It’s all just fishing. I favor spinning rigs for light tackle because seems to be cheaper than BFS and spinning outfits carry the distinct advantage of having excellent slack control, which seems to be something I care about when using light baits.
  21. I mean… I’m still trying to figure out this thing called fish behavior. If I knew how to do things better, I would be doing them. Unless it interferes too much with the rest of life. There are times when I do not want my sleep schedule disrupted just so I can go fishing at the perfect time.
  22. Where were you getting your bites? You say directly under their boat? Or did you get some shallower as well?
  23. Spinning outfit, jig head worm actually saved my butt today.
  24. right now my typical cast is paralleling banks at depths ranging from 6’ to 12ish’
