  1. I was thinking the other day that it would be cool to have a bassresource decal with your username under/beside the bassresource logo able to put on your truck or boat. I have several decals on the back of my truck, would be really cool to have one like that and it would help advertise bassresource. i do like your logo as well but I’m with those that like the original better
  2. One of my favorite things about big game is that I can respool almost as often as I’d like. The line will coil up for me over time and it also seems to lose some of its elasticity. Casts a little worse over time compared to brand new. But for a little over $1, I can put fresh line on, no problems. Big game fresh off the spool is just a pleasure to fish with.
  3. My first day out in the winter in NC I started with black and chartreuse, and it caught em pretty good and I caught more good fish on the color later in the winter too. I posted the first trip. Later I switched colors and couldn’t get a bite. @king fisher mentioned his fondness for the color before too. I think it is something about the contrast of colors that makes it good. I have some black and white rubber skirts I want to try also.
  4. i gotcha, understand now. Only a few options for separate colorado's on tackle warehouse. some are painted, not including the silver flash blade. I think the silver flash blade itself is worth full spinnerbait price. it is hard to lose a blade. ya tried black and chartreuse?

  6. Look fine to me! I ain't had much luck on single willow for some reason. Don't let that deter you though, others have posted on here claiming good success with them. But single colorado is my favorite producer year round. I've just accepted the unavoidable fact though that they are better in cloudy/stained water conditions. Or night time of course. But if you have low visibility, a single colorado spinnerbait is just awesome. #4 nichols metal flake silver flash colorado blade is my favorite. It comes with the 1/4 oz and 3/8oz sizes. That blade is special. Yeah, I made a post about the silver flash spinnerbait as a whole too. But don't think for a second that I don't swap that exact blade around a lot of my spinnerbaits. If it ain't broke don't fix it.
  7. Shad rap!! I don't know if it is considered a true flat-side but I don't care! The original silver and gold, plus yellow perch color, plus crawdad color.
  8. Others more knowledgeable on this than I am. Only thing I have to add is that the second way that you describe works well for preventing backlashes, but does not maximize your casting distance. For casting distance, you want tension lower than the method prescribes with the brake set as an aid as needed to your thumb pressure. Low tension + good use of thumb = maximum casting distance
  9. I have two things that immediately come to mind. I’m done fishing before graphing a little with electronics (provided I have the time), and I’m done fishing spinnerbaits too often high in the water column. I mentioned that on another thread. Send em to the bottom, deflect off everything! Edit: what I mean by wanting to electronically graph first is that I want to survey locations that I plan on fishing before I actually fish them. No casts made. The reason is because I have hunkered down in a spot that looks good thinking the baitfish will show up or that “the bass are here, I just know it!” It’s all silly talk. I should not be looking to graph only bass, I want to graph lots of baitfish… and the right kind! That is what tells me to stay.
  10. Nichols Pulsator metal flake 3/8 oz single colorado, color silver flash This spinnerbait is nasty! Give it a try. Excels in clear water and cloudy conditions.
  11. What lure manufacturers don’t want you to know: all chatterbaits have a microchip embedded into their head that makes them seek out any and all timber. I really wanted to like chatterbaits. I lost one too many I guess.
  12. Frustratingly, spinnerbaits were not a big fish bait for me in 2021. Probably caught over 60% of my fish this year on them, but I don’t think I broke 5lbs on them once this year. I think three came close. For all of these, interestingly, the spinnerbait was either retrieved on the bottom or enroute to the bottom. Something for me to consider again this year.
  13. Hey ya’ll, Happy New Years! I hope you are not a fellow Michigan fan watching the game right now taking a break at half time ?. Myself and family were out at a pond today, will post catch pictures later, and my Dad somehow hooked a lizard that just wouldn’t let go of his senko. He took a long look at the lizard, remembered the shape of it, and after getting done some research, concluded that it must be a waterdog. We are wondering what they mean for the health of the pond and how they affect bass fishing. He also said that it seems we are outside the region where waterdogs are normally found. What are y’all’s thoughts? This is a small, shallow two acre pond that I have done quite a bit of fishing on.
  14. Know a guy who uses this on a plain jig head. It is one of his go-to baits and he’s been fishing a long time
  15. Well this is just my opinion, mind you I’ve been on this Earth shorter than many on this site…. If you do want to spend the money, get the REVO Winch. I love mine and bought another because the left handed version seems to be running out of a lot of places and possibly no longer being produced. It’s a very good reel and special to me. the winch is made for crankbaiting but it is an awesome spinnerbait reel as well
  16. iRod has a genesis III model called Fred’s Crank Launcher if you can find one available. It is really long though and could be unwieldy in a kayak. For reel I would find something in the 5 speed range for deep divers. If you wanna stay with Shimano, that’s all cool but I’m not sure what options that leaves you with since you mentioned you are on a budget. Line I would use 12lb trilene big game. Bait monkey has had me looking at crankbaiting stuff recently AJay has great recommendations about dealing with crankbaiting from a kayak/canoe
  17. Wow. Great idea thank you
  18. I used braid to fluoro or braid to mono for my first couple years of fishing baitcasters and liked it. Few issues. But after switching to straight mono and re-learning to set the hook, I’m not looking back at going to using braid and leaders. I like the forgiveness (elasticity, abrasion resistance, shock absorbance, great knot strength) of mono. Nothing wrong with using braid to leader though. You could, for instance, get away with using a more flexible rod with braid. only exception to me using mono is straight braid when talking heavy cover frogging, punching, whatever
  19. I use green mono cuz Jimmy Houston says I should ??
  20. She will appreciate that. Thanks Perspective though ?. pictures can be tricky. In seeing the bass in person, looked right around where it weighed. I invested in a higher quality scale and tested it on a half gallon of milk; it is accurate
  21. I cannot find a favorite myself. I tried many this year. The Picasso’s I got for Black Friday which I’ve thrown a lot this holiday break are very high quality…. I only have one gripe with them. The head design. It hangs in wood too easily. Booyah Coverts are great also but the swivel is cheap and the quality control on them is terrible sometimes (rusted hooks, split wire). I think I will go back to my roots for future purchases and return to Nichols or experiment with more War Eagle spinnerbaits. I like the bullet head design the most by far. Head design is way more important to me than I thought it would be
  22. I’ve caught a lot of fish on spinnerbaits this year Merry Christmas!
