  1. Heck yeah! Unfortunately only saw a quarter or so, was too busy fishing and hunting over break along with my Dad. I had to keep myself from shouting in the deer stand when I noticed that Michigan was going to run away with it. It's about dang time!!! Go blue!
  2. Pffff you dont need those silly rapala lures. Just send me those useless shad raps you have and I'll donate them... to the water
  3. Love to see it man ?
  4. I’ve broken a few myself. Never a fun time. One time my spinnerbait in the middle of a roll cast just barely clipped my rod tip hanging off the edge of my kayak and broke it clean off. I just stared for a second and cried on the inside.
  5. Thanks for your comment and perspective. Ya think it is the wire that accounted for this difference? Lots I still don’t understand about spinnerbaits. They are really a rabbit hole. Sorta medium thickness wire around 0.035 has worked well for me and still allows me some good freedom in changing blades without worrying too much about snapping the wire short. But you are right, mileage on wire thickness could vary on different lakes across the country. Spinnerbaits sure don’t work the same for me in NC vs NY
  6. I’d like to thank @king fisher for existing and for being a part of BR, lol. You’ve had me crack up quite a few times too, @TnRiver46
  7. Agree. And this novice, me, still doesn’t know what he wants in t-rig hook
  8. Wire diameter might be a good discussion point for a thread at some point. I’m sure there are threads that have discussed this in the past too. I’m still not sure how I feel about the “ideal” wire diameter. So many say thinner wire is better and I do think it’s got it’s benefits but Nichols runs some decently thick wire on their 1/2oz and especially 3/4oz and those things get bit. I think I tinker too much with spinnerbaits for me to afford wire diameters in the 0.030 diameter range where War Eagles somewhere land.
  9. 3/8 oz is my standard size in NY too. Heavier spinnerbaits started to catch up later in the season though. In particular, 1/2oz single colorado
  10. Okay I’ll bite. I ordered quite a few Picasso spinnerbaits because they were on an additional sale on TW. 30% off overall, couldn’t say no. I am impressed with the components on the spinnerbaits. I think they have mustad ultra points, sampo swivels, a 0.035 diameter heat treated wire, and a really cool head design. This is a good list of specs for me. I don’t care about the skirts or the blades since I’ll likely be changing them but the components on these spinnerbaits are awesome. I bought AFTCO hydronaut gloves for cold weather use as well as the helm insulated gloves. Between these two, I hope my hands stay warm for winter fishing. edit: I should add the Picasso spinnerbaits I got were the Picasso Inviz R Wire double willows. Did double willows because more color selections. https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Picasso_Inviz_R_Wire_Double_Willow_Spinnerbaits/descpage-PIDW.html
  11. Awful lot of popularity for the original Bill Lewis. Y’all yo-yoing these?
  12. I got one more big one today on my last day here in NC before going back to the cold, dark north. This one measured 21 1/4". Very slow retrieve with a senko weightless texas rigged. I used similar retrieve in the postspawn for big ones on the same pond.
  13. And that’s why KVD is KVD and I’m just jake from State Farm. Heck no I ain’t throwing a 2oz crankbait lol
  14. I had no idea the 10XD or crankbaits in general got that heavy. Wow. I’d sooner throw a lipless
  15. Perfect. This is the kind of advice we need on BR
  16. Hmmm. Very interesting! To perfect this technique, how much ice should be on the guides and level wind before I start removing it?
  17. An awful lot. Maybe I’ll pick a few things. - fish don’t care what my theories are - the less I retie the better I do - trust my instincts but don’t burn down in one spot - pay attention to the bottom, things on the shore, position on the lake/pond (North end is warmest!!), look for baitfish - deer hunting is hard - I love turkeys - spinnerbaits are awesome - I need to fish worms more
  18. I had to exercise great restraint in not getting more Picasso spinnerbaits. Unfortunately didn’t appear like the extra 10% off applied based on receipt so I’ll have to call them. my big purchases this year were a couple pairs of aftco gloves including the hydronauts.
  19. Yeah. That is a BIG fish. Very nice @NorcalBassin
  20. Ain’t wacky rigs and weightless worms good around bluegill beds also? That was a bit of a pattern for me in the post spawn this year
  21. Back in NC. Feels good to be home
  22. Yeah I’d like to hear about anyone’s experiences too even though I ain’t real big on swimbaits. But just look at this color: ?
