  1. I am a fan of using constantly moving lures slowly. I don’t know whether that is fast or slow. I also like to work some worms, especially senkos, deathly slow. Gonna do some of that tomorrow In terms of how quickly and often I move around the lake, it is somewhat in direct correlation to how confident I am in my precise location.
  2. Another vote for a thumping spinnerbait. In this case, a big single colorado. Slow and tight to something the bass can hold their nose against and keep warm
  3. These are five that I've caught over the past two days at Lake Thom-A-Lex. One just shy of 5lbs, one three and a half, and a few around or over 2lbs. I've not been able to get bites deep, only shallow. And if there isn't grass of some sort, forget about it. The best areas seem to be where there's a combination of a rocky bottom and dead grass mats. Laydowns don't hurt either. All fish caught on spinnerbaits shallow. Hope ya'll are well this holiday season.
  4. I did okay on a yellow and black spinnerbait yesterday. Seem to remember this being one of your previous favorite colors?
  5. Not a state, but Mexico. If I must pick a state, I suppose Texas. Ray Roberts would be pretty cool. Take me with you @roadwarrior? Lol
  6. Soon after ice out I plan on tossing a Hopkins spoon. As it gets warmer I’ll add in lipless and senko. Then once it creeps above low 40’s, it’s spinnerbait or die. At the height of prespawn I’ll fish double colorados with single Colorado mixed in.
  7. Wind is okay I suppose. I really like clouds. Cloudy today and had a decent day although it was very chilly.
  8. My Mom hooked a donkey! 5.9 lbs even, her PB. She saw some ripples and called over to me. I told her just leave her bait sitting there. After over maybe half a minute, her line started swimming off. She was excited!
  9. Favorite generic colors I've used are black, white, watermelon red, and watermelon candy. Not a fan of green pumpkin. But to try and put the bait monkey on some of you, here are some senko colors I'm interested in trying very soon :). Blue pearl silver flake, then pearl with small gold and large black flake, and watermelon smoke with purple and blue. These are all meant to imitate specific types of baitfish Edit: I forgot one important one. I used to be a huge fan of zoom's california 420 and I need to throw it more. It works. Try it in your favorite zoom plastic.
  10. Yeah be careful. It's been a while since this happened, but I got alerted of potential fraud after TW black friday purchase. There was a suspicious small charge. Cancelled card. What I figured was that it had to do with TW's third party vendor.
  11. I’d like to preface this that I only starting seriously throwing buzzbaits this past summer. Z craw jr worked pretty good but a little small and at moderate speeds would tilt the buzzbait slightly but nothing bad. Tried a magnum ultravibe craw, way too much tilt. Tried rage menace, very good. My only gripe with it now is that it seems like a small offering on a buzzbait. Next up I’ll try a little larger paddletails and skirts. menace is really good though, give it a try edit: I like Nichols brand. Nothing fancy but very well made.
  12. My situation is a bit different. Otherwise I agree with you. Insert "I'd rather be fishing" Heck there was some other thread we talked on where I felt like a party-pooper. I guess I'm not fun enough for ya'll boys out in OH. I seem to remember you bashing Michigan football too. Hmmmmmmm. Go blue
  13. Final exams keeping me from fishing ?
  14. Hey ya'll, Wondering if anyone has fished Lake Thom a Lex in the whereabouts of Winston Salem. I looked through past forum posts and could not find much information on this lake. It is somewhat small, at only 586 acres. Digging through all available information on the interwebs, I've seen some encouraging and not-so-encouraging things about the lake. Wondering what ya'lls thoughts are on it. I visited it once before last year. The most concerning thing I read was that it could be shad poor but that was just a claim made by a forum poster on another forum years ago. The most encouraging things I read were the grass on the lake and the lake's record at over 13lbs. I am trying to catch as big a bass as I can this winter and this was one lake I was looking at in my whereabouts. There are great, larger lakes available to me, but Thom a Lex because of its smaller size is great for me in the kayak to get around in and analyze more closely. Hope ya'll are well.
  15. Woah. That’s worrisome. That is my case
  16. Yeah, when I've tried to use a spinnerbait without a skirt, it has not produced that well. Before I tried it, I thought I was really on to something. Totally unrelated but thank you for your johnson silver minnow video! After seeing the spoon move in the water with a skirt, I absolutely have to try using one and your tips were very helpful.
  17. I've thought lazer sharp hooks are quite good. Wonderful day by the way!
  18. Pheasant stew is absolutely the best thing I've had
  19. I have been riding a bit of metal train lately and I've become quite a fan of black sabbath. This is probably my favorite right now.
  20. We’re really not going to be in the dead of winter when I return to NC especially given recent weather patterns and I am fishing from a kayak so that influences my lure selection a little. I will use what I have and what I have confidence in. For this winter that includes senkos, spinnerbaits, and lipless. I really want to try a Hopkins spoon sometime in the dead of winter.
  21. I think straight black is one of the absolute best worm colors. I’ve done okay on June bug and black and blue on various things but black really stands out for me. I’m going to try black and red a little more next season.
  22. you are right I was too optimistic about this one
  23. Yeah… I said they were fish out of water…. It turned out to be one of those where you boat flip the fish out of the water, it lands in your boat, throws your lure, and then it flops back into the water before you can grab it.
  24. Go Army!!! Navy doesn’t stand a chance in this one. Fish out of water ?
