  1. Sleep? Is that like caffeine?
  2. Is that the deep box? Love those things, it's unbelievable how much stuff they hold. Probably the best purchase I've made storage-wise along with the edge spinnerbait box
  3. ^ It ain't bad! I gave it a listen. Contrasts pretty sharply from the metal music I've been listening to, but if I was close-minded, I wouldn't be fishing. I'll pick a song from the metal playlist I've been assembling.
  4. What a fantastic bass! And a great day too! Sincere congrats man
  5. Ok got it Glenn. I am committed to slow rolling a spinnerbait deeper when conditions are right when I want a big bass. Fooled my 9lber and a man who has helped me along learning how to fish spinnerbaits caught the two biggest bass of his life, a 10 and an 11, slow rolling a spinnerbait along grass edges. Enjoying reading past responses to this thread! Thank you!
  6. If there's anything that stands out to me reading ya'lls responses, it is that there is more than one way to cut this pie. That said, I don't want to discourage more responses and I appreciate the advice all of ya'll have given. You have different approaches to this problem, so what remains is for me to find out what works for me, aided by ya'll. Thank you! And keep em coming!
  7. That's gross man I'm sorry. I'd be jumping up and down repeatedly the first day of open water going through all that.
  8. Dang! Was hoping some areas in the farther North were getting the same good luck we are having here. Feel absolutely blessed Will be going fishing at a hole in the ice today and tomorrow. Went Wednesday for a little, didn't get anything and dont care. Just wanted to soak up the sunshine and enjoy. Jeez....
  9. For the life of me I cannot get that to be productive enough for me to do it consistently. Frustrates the heck out of me. ?
  10. Yup I've been successful throwing buzzbaits with some chop on the water, but not close to the winds you are describing. I don't think it'd be my first choice though since I found that I had to retrieve the buzzbait faster under these conditions and I don't prefer that. I would sooner toss a spinnerbait
  11. Just kind of a bored winter question but an important one as this is relevant to some ponds close around me. What are some techniques that work well for you fishing uphill on very steep banks that drop off immediately from the bank? Or do you not prefer to fish uphill at all given this situation? Downhill? Or parallel perhaps? Maybe you pick one or the other based on conditions. What influences your choice? I'll put this in the Tackle Forum but some of this seems appropriate for the 'general' forum as well. Hope ya'll are well! Edit: I still feel this a broad question. I'll try to narrow it further for those asking "what season, man?" Let's say late winter/early spring as it characterizes some parts of the US already and will come to the North soon enough... I hope.
  12. Congrats on the PB!!
  13. I read this thread pretty early. Uh, I used to be pretty bad. Felt entitled and stuff. I am much better now if it happens. Don’t throw much of a fuss. Not sure what caused the change in behavior but I ain’t the same person I used to be.
  14. Curado 150 MGL arrived. Fully satisfied with the fit of the reel on the rod pairing. I was very concerned about this while ordering, and reached out to y’all on a thread about your recommendations. The thing fits perfectly in my hand and is very comfortable. Lots of other very cool things about this reel. I spooled the reel with 12lb big game for a little excursion soon to a ‘hole in the ice’ lol. But the reel is awesome. Thank you guys! This rod and reel is an awfully good combo now, I think.
  15. No problem man! Hope I helped out a close NC neighbor ?
  16. Well what the heck I've hardly tossed a hair jig but I'll say I've heard some great things about Northstar custom baits hair jigs.
  17. You be fine with 3/4 based on the rod rating! But I aint gonna push ya towards it. There's also the thought that a 1/2oz with smaller blades is less obtrusive in that clear water than a 3/4, so I can see an argument for the 1/2oz. But with this rod, I cast 3/4oz spinners just fine without lobbing, and if I'm not mistaken, your 724c has a fast tip(?) which should make it fare better with heavier weights than with mine which runs a moderate fast. A 1oz spinner I do have to lob with this rod though. Edit: My pictures always show up so dang blurry lol. For those that can't read my spinnerbait rod rating, it is 3/8 to 1 oz
  18. If the water is really clear and you are fishing deep, even if there is a lot of grass of the bottom, I think you need clouds or you need your bait moving a bit quicker down there. I don’t like to fish spinnerbaits fast, some people do and you might. I really like clouds though. After last season throwing spinnerbaits a lot in clear water in a variety of conditions and depths, for me a spinnerbait can catch em almost regardless of conditions. But there are almost always better options when the water is clear and it is sunny and little wind. I agree that with the water depth you are talking about and with the presence of grass on the bottom, ticking the grass with your spinnerbait will be productive. So near the bottom basically. Okay so now to answer your question. 1/2 oz and heavier ticket for fishing that deep. It’s kinda 3/4 oz territory actually, especially on the high end. So for most versatile spinnerbait… maybe 3/4 oz cosmic tandem colorado willow spinnerbait with color suggestions of maybe bloody shad, bluegill flash, flash shad, white, chartreuse and white, green shad, silver shiner, or smokin silver. Those are colors that caught my eye browsing the site. My preference is having both blades silver for clear water. Also don’t discount a single colorado in clear water, but make sure you’ve got some clouds if you want it to really shine.
  19. Tom thank you for sharing these stories with us. Your knowledge of bass fishing and your accomplishments amazed me when I first browsed bassresource and continue to amaze me. We’re lucky to have you, and on top of that, you’re a great fellow to talk with. Thank you!
  20. @Siebert Outdoors, these jigs are incredible. A few things stood out to me. 1. The head. All of these are the G2 football head. The head seems like it is a mix between a standard football and a stand-up arky. It's incredible, and the recessed line tie is a great touch too. 2. The hook. Never seen a trokar hook on a jig but it just spoils it. I very much like the hook diameter and the dark finish to it. It's just perfect. 3. And the colors. Really vibrant combinations of the colors I picked. Awesome! These are Mike's living rubber jigs, which I was more than a little excited for. Thank you Mike!!
  21. I punched this winter in a kayak with a little altered cast. Kind of a roll cast except I released much later so that the bait traveled in a sharp upward trajectory and kind of cannon-balled down through the thick stuff. Took about 45 minutes for me to nail down. I'm a novice puncher but it worked. I missed a really big fish one day that threw my punching jig :(. Can't speak to deep cranking but I can see an advantage to cranking while anchored in a kayak. You can get your rod really low into the water easily without having to kneel in a boat.
  22. Excellent! The nice thing about having that small of an area to work with is it will force me to slow way down. I also won't have to worry my mind about where to fish! Lol
  23. You’re 100% right. Thursday and Saturday good possibilities as fishing days where I’m at. Both just under 50 degrees as the high temperature. Some of those ‘blips’. I plan on making it out soon ?. Just to wet a line, really
  24. A place to toss a line! Ya hear that Florida residents!! You ain’t got nothing on me!! ?
