Latest Catch Pics Thread
What have you observed with how cover “reloads” with fish on different lakes? Will cover “reload” on most lakes? How long will this take? Are some lakes faster than others? Do some types of cover reload faster than others? What else influences this, such as season? An elite series angler mentioned this phenomenon of cover reloading in a tournament I was watching recently Super awesome report by the way ????

Fall Spinnerbait Fishing: Jason Christie's Tips!
Good to get Jason's perspective on this and I certainly was surprised by a few things! A lipless is a great choice for what he is describing, as well

How would you rate yourself ????
My thought always was that larger fish have tougher mouths and thicker lips. Hook needs more space and more force. Sometimes the angle winds up being bad too. I also do think you’re right that there’s a lot of wiggle room for a hook to come loose in a larger fish’s mouth.

How Long Before You Change Lures?
The answers you get here are going to vary wildly based on everyone’s catch rates. Some of that is not related to angling skill. Just the body of water’s typical catch rate. If you really think there are bass in an area, you may want to throw a little more their way. I’m generally more apt to just move and keep tossing the same stuff if I’m not getting bit. Usually I think I’m just not in the right place at the right time. But there are also professionals now who do very well rotating through baits on a spot, particularly with livescope. Different styles work

Heavily Pressured Pond
Fish at night or find something they have not seen often. Lighter line will get you more bites. My choice of finesse tactic is a shaky head. May or may not work for you. I’d use a light 1/8oz or less head and a finesse worm. I fished a rocky reservoir for a long time that is only about 20 acres and receives a lot of fishing pressure. The best bait was a jig, and big ones worked too. I think a reason for that is nobody ever thought to toss a jig in there for some reason.

Spinnerbait, or A-Rig for Fall
@Bird @Log Catcher @papajoe222 it is not new news that I LOVE a single colorado along with you guys. I have strayed from using them in the daytime recently. I’m trying to broaden my scope and gain experience with other blade styles. Single Colorado’s work fantastic and when there are gentle winds along with low light conditions or murky water and cooler water, that is a recipe for a single colorado spinner to start some absolute mayhem.

Bottom Contact Searchbaits
@Pogues2300 my experience with swingheads has been that they are more snaggy than you might originally think. Especially if we are talking about timber or big rock. But @Firstoutfisher I don’t know your water and you might be just fine. I just want you to be aware that you might be losing some rigs if you try this and I advise you to look for less expensive options because the swingheads I buy are about $10-$13 and you do not want to be losing those bank fishing

Bottom Contact Searchbaits
Rage menace or rage bug. To be honest most the good fish that I’ve seen posted here from swinghead jigs have been from the rage bug. I think Bluebasser has a huge smallie off the menace The zoom z craw is also very popular @Firstoutfisher I anticipate you having some problems trying to run a swinghead like that from the bank though. Just saw you mentioned bank fishing.

Bottom Contact Searchbaits
Heavy jig or t-rig can be fished pretty quick too. But a swinghead jig will really run quick
-
Bottom Contact Searchbaits
One of the most efficient is reeling a 3/4 or 1oz swing head jig along the bottom

It is a pretty cool phenomenon how much attention this thread gets on a fishing forum

Expride 7 or 7'2
People who have both rods can provide the opinion you are looking for, but if you do not get that, I would lean towards the 7’2” for a 1oz jig because a 1oz jig offers a fish a lot of leverage to throw the hook and a longer rod should offer a bit more control over the fish.
