  1. Knock yourself out. Just don’t be surprised when it eventually slips.
  2. You people sure this thread belongs on a fishing forum? Maybe let’s move it to Frankfurt school internet boards under section “critical deconstruction of fishing term definitions”
  3. On a standard spool, without any fixture (ie. tape), braid will slip. Been there don’t that. Thought my drag was busted.
  4. I treat mine with fish slime and river mud whenever they collect too much dust in the garage.
  5. Sorry can’t help you there, but I am sure a troop of believers, with plenty of recommendations will come knocking soon.
  6. If you rely on moon cycles to plan your freshwater fishing trips then you should also call your local tarot and ouija board experts.
  7. I have rods in every price range from aird-x to steez and if I was to do it all over again I would get nothing but tatulas or zodias.
  8. Well done sir
  9. You all bit the bait. Op tries to argue semantics, not techniques.
  10. Brass gears, this is directly from Bantam1 (shimano rep) on tackletour.
  11. Hard to beat TW. Free tshirt with orders over $125, so many products to select from and 10% military/veteran discount. I have nothing to complain about. Except for the few items TW does not carry (and probably never will) all my shopping is done with them. Their shipping is back to normal.
  12. I did have a bowfin tow my canoe and kayak once or twice .I wish it happened more often.
  13. I see little imagination in this thread. I would go back to at least before the last ice age and fish rivers of prehistoric Wisconsin. Hell even further to catch some dinosaurs.
  14. It will be underspooled in about 4 months anyway.
  15. I almost exclusively put daiwas on my shimanos and shimanos on my daiwas.
  16. Jerkbaits before spawn and after fall turnover. The period between it is wtd and whopper ploppers. I fish small and medium sized rivers.
  17. Only tip transfers vibration to the blank or rather it transfers the most vibrations to the blank. For example daiwa steez ags uses titanium tip and ags (carbon) guides the rest of the way. Titanium transfers vibrations very well.
  18. Compass360. Inexpensive, not the best fit, but they last and are really durable. I am on my second pair. First pair got punctured on a barbed wire but otherwise lasted over two years. It was their cheapest offering. There is no freshwater situation where bootfoot is better than stocking foot.
  19. Yea I agree on that poison adrena 611m+. Does everything well.
  20. Then you buy daiwa
  21. What he said except I have stradic fl 2500 on mine.
  22. I am surprised FMJ has not been mentioned yet.
  23. Have couple of rods, dedicated good amount of time for fly fishing and even fly tying, but in the end I share the sentiment with mr. team9nine. It is too d**n inefficient and I cant relax and enjoy myself knowing I could be using my time more effectively.
  24. and if I had a nickle for every thread that turns into spinning vs casting for finesse... New Fenwick Techna has a ML casting rod; Shimano Expride and Zodias lines have one as well; Major craft has at least two in each of their lines; Daiwa Rebellion has one; Legit Design/arundel has one; Megabass P5 has couple; St. Croix has few accross their lines. Plenty of ML casting rods out there and I am sure if one searched a little harder there are plenty in '<$100' department.
