Hard Jerk Bait Rods : Your go to for Winter / Pre-Spawn ?
I have two, mainly use ALX jerkbait which is 6’9” M+/F, but lately I have been warming up to tatula elite 6’9” ML/MF. Moderate fast action for jerbaits is growing on me. For 3/8oz jb sizes I would use a ML rod.

“Soft Tip” Rods
I don’t think the handles on your nrx and steez weight the same. Hang some lead from the tip on few feet of line and that will give you more accurate loading characteristics.

Current Favorite Mid - Priced Hard Jerk Bait (2 ft ~ 5 ft. running depth) ?
I didn’t mean it as a bad thing. Just observation of the JB prices. Shadow raps and huskies probably still catch as many if not more fish than visions and pointers.

With current prices what you listed is low end. For mid priced, Anything by LC or duo realis.

Lol, a buzzword from gear reviewers and social media influencers

“Soft Tip” Rods
It probably means different thing to different people. For me it means nothing. There is already 3 ways to classify rods, action, power and loading weight range. Are we going to add tip hardness to the mix?

Ned rig rod?
Me too, my favorite Ned rig rod to date.

Near freezing water temps
My best bite for sub 40F smallies has been on keitech swing impact 3.5” or 3” easy shiner on 1/16 jig head super slow rolled along the bottom. Alternatively drag a spider head with a drop shot worm on a bottom even slower.

Why I use 6 # braided line. Simple.
I use 8lb braid on spinning gear for river smallies almost exclusively. For weeds and slop it would be totally outclassed. Instead I am bringing the setups with 4 strand 30lb and up braid.

Favorite Size Keitech SIF for Smallies?

How about them Megabass rods?
They are fine rods but the handle and the butt section is way too thin for me. I have FMJ that I barely fish because of that.

2022 Shimano Exprides!
Yes my poison adrena is peeling. The “matte” looking portion of the handle is a coating which may eventually peel. Mine did.

Okuma psycho stick 7’2” M
I like the specs on this rod. I am thinking it might be good stick for finesse jigs and small trigs for river smallies. If you have it please chime in.

Megabass Price Increase
While ya’ll ***** at price of a fishing rod increasing by $25 I’m looking at my gas bill with close to 100% increase year over year for month of December. I’m expecting January to be even worse. The increase is close to the price of levante btw.

Megabass Price Increase
Did you consider increase in energy cost and lease?
-
Megabass Price Increase
We are not entitled to Levante at $200. However, you are entitled to spend your money however you want, with few exceptions such as taxes.

How fast can you reel ?
I reel so fast my shadow can’t keep up, yet the fish do.

Jig Prep - Beware of Melt Down
Plasticizers are what makes a lot of plastics soft. These plasticizers can leach in contact with chemically different plastics. zman elaztech is very susceptible to this for example. No way around it. When in doubt keep your soft plastics in original bags.

NW WI River Smallie...ate a musky fly...
This smallie’s color is very normal for northern Wisconsin (especially for older fish). The rivers over there have rootbeer color from tannins and smallies are much darker. Bringing in a smallie like this on a 10wt fly rod would be quicker than on a medium spinning rod. Amazing looking fish!
